`fastboot-mac erase cache` now hangs without any printed message and there's no way to kill the process. My HTC One X is connected to USB when this takes place, and previously on Lion (10.7), it allows me to erase the cache and then to proceed with flashing boot.imgs.
Is there another fastboot-mac program I should be using? It used to work when I am on 10.7.

On my Linux notebook I just zero the whole disk one or two times and reinstall the OS, with my Android devices it's a little bit more complicated.
Is there a way to securely wipe all my data, for example using fastboot?

A method that definitely works is to just write a file to the data and cache partitions until there is no space left, but I wondered whether there is a "cleaner" solution?
General :: Rooted Irulu 4.2.2 Tablet - BusyBox Works But Command Does Not Elevate To Root?
Dec 6, 2013i recently bought a cheap irulu tablet off ebay. it's running 4.2.2, and i'm not quite sure if it's rooted or not. i've read that most of their tablets are rooted right out of the box, so i downloaded 4 or 5 root checkers from the marketplace and some said it was rooted and some said it was not. i know that it does have su and busybox installed, but i don't have one of those superuser apps that request permission or anything. i can browse my full phone with any file explorer. i installed titanium backup, and it says on the main screen that root access is ok, but then it will pop up an error message that says:
BusyBox works but the "su" command does not elevate to root. There's something wrong with your "su" binary and/or "Superuser" app.

I try to using fastboot mode to flash recovery image, but my device seems not detected. I already installed the android composite driver, but when i use "fastboot devices" command, it shows (?) So how the heck to get my nexian back to normal?..
Or perhaps, if i just be able to put back the /system folder to its place again, it would be more easy to recover it... But how access the root when phone is like that?
General :: No Network Timeout When Connection Lost On Device But Works In Emulator
Feb 14, 2013I'm developing an App that sends keep-alive packets to its server to ensure the connection is still alive.
The server is java based and thus easily to run. I run the server on a virtual machine (Windows 7). After my App is connected and the first keep-alive packet is received (it displays a message in its console output) I disable the network interface in Windows. This step is very important because by disabling it, there is no way to send any packet back to the client informing it about network changes.
The clients are configured to send every 25 seconds a keep-alive packet, so you don't need to wait long.
When you use the sample JavaClient on Windows 7 it takes less than a minute after the keep-Alive packet and an exception is thrown which triggers reconnection (which currently can't occur). This is the expected behaviour.
When you use the sample Android App on an emulator (tested Android version 2 and 4) it is the same behaviour. So in less than a minute after the keep-alive packet it recognises that the connection is dead, throws an exception, this triggers reconnection.
Problem is now when this App runs on a real device (tested several, Xpearia Arc S, one Cyanogen Mod 4 on Galaxy S3 and my Galaxy S3). I've waited 5 minutes, but there was no exception. This behaviour is reproducable.
Since this is a sample App, it uses no wakelock or service, so to test it is important to have it in foreground all the time (don't switch to other Apps or homescreen) and increase your display timeout to a few minutes to ensure that it doesn't go off. Use Logcat-Output to get informed whats happening, because there is no output in the App itself.
Now Sample-Code is in the attachement. Something had gone wrong. The Code consists of 3 Eclipse projects which you can easily import.

I ran the SQLite queries (had to pull the DB and edit on my PC, then push it back), generated a gesture key and pushed it to the phone, restarted and... no dice. The lock screen is still asking for a password to unlock it.

After experimenting with different wifi tethering apps from the unofficial market, I began experiencing difficulties with my wifi connection. Even after uninstalling every app that I thought was changing the wifi state, the problem still persists. I can turn on the wifi and it will act normally for about 30 seconds before turning off without user intervention. In dmesg, the error is as follows: 'mmc1: Got command interrupt 0x00060001 even though no command operation was in progress.' Is this caused by an app or is this a more complicated problem?
