View 1 Replies View RelatedApparently rooting and using custom ROMs hasn't solved this issue. Before I rooted my phone I was having the issue that, despite checking the "Use by default for this action" box, my phone just plain refused to save what homescreen app to go to when I tap the "Home" button.I've tried clearing the cache. I've done factory resets and data wipes (although I did restore "all apps with data" with Titanium Backup). I've tried using the Home Switcher app. Nothing works.Right now my phone is running the current version of BB, ChevyNo1's 1.0Ghz 5 slot update.zip for OC, and am using AdamZ's Smoked glass theme. I want to use the "HelixLauncher" app as my default homescreen, but it's rather obnoxious having to constantly select it when I hit the home button (it'll save my default action for a few clicks, and then I'll have to set it again).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am writing an app where I get all the data from the rest call and display all the data in a custom component list(based on Linear Layout) which is added to a LinearLayout. I write this code in onCreate of the activity. The problem is when I switch activity using startActivity, and come back to the calling activity (using startActivity) then onCreate is called again. I see onPause, onStop called when I call other activity. Is there any way that I can save the application's state?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt first when I used my phone. I would click on Internet, Browse to a web page, and if left my phone alone for a few minutes it would go to power save mode, and I would have to unlock the screen to keep browsing on the same internet page I was on. Now when it powers down, and I go back to it, it always defaults to my home page, and I have to browse back to the page I was just one. I have been looking for a setting to undo this, as its driving me crazy, but I haven't been able to find a way to change this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to save some values in the onSaveInstanceState(Bundle) method of my activty by following the example here: How do I save an Android application's state?
But it doesnt seem to load it from the Oncreate(). the bundle object is always null but whenever i call another activity, it does indeed go into the onSaveInstanceState method to save my values.
Now i read that question i just posted and someone noted how they could not get it to work in an emulator? unfortunately that is all im working on. On an emulator and cant test the app on the device as i have no device available to me right now And the web services i am interacting with are in a local VM on my work machine that cannot be accesses remotely at the moment.
My question is, is it true that saved bundles dont work on emulators? I also noticed how when i do dismiss or bring up a new activity , the activity calles onPause and then onStop. when i bring back the same activty, it goes straight to onCreate?
now according to the docs here http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/fundamentals.html#actlife That is correct in terms of what the lifecycle diagram shows but if you read below that diagram on the onStop() section it says the next step it goes into is either onRestart() or onDestroy()? no mention of onCreate? Type on the docs?
Anyways here is my onSaveInstanceState() and onCreate() both in the same activity: code...
I have an LG Spectrum 2 and I can't figure out if/how I can get my calendar from my old phone onto my new (same model) phone. I have tried syncing it, but I don't know where it's syncing it to. I don't know if it can be synced/saved to my SD card? I tried syncing it to my gmail calendar, but it only shows the events that are saved as yearly occurrences. (And somehow it's showing saved yearly events from my work Outlook calendar?)
I did see suggestions for clearing the cache and data in the Calendar Settings, but since I don't have the calendar backed up, I don't want to risk loosing my information.
I did a few searches and couldn't find anything, so I decided to be lazy and start a new post on this. Has anyone found an application that will move all applications to the SD card to save phone space and speed everything else up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Moto G 8GB which is running very low on storage (only about 800mb left). This phone does not take Micro SD cards but it comes with 50GB Google Drive storage. However i haven't used this at all. I am wondering whether i could download android apps and games to google drive, dropbox etc. Games like Real Racing take up about 1GB so i cannot download it to my phone. Can i download it to the Cloud? If this is not possible, is there any way that i could save the app data on the cloud. E.g. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is about 37mb to download off the play store, but then you must download the updates etc which are about another 250mb. is there anyway to save this 250mb on the cloud. Or any other games data.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are a couple of options within the browser I didn't find until after searching for it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of the community in order to help out.
-Everyone should clear the browser cache and previous history in order to save internal phone memory. To do this go to BROWSER press the MENU button and press MORE. There should be a list of things in there but what you should be interested in is the last item which is SETTINGS. From there in privacy settings there will be options to clear both cache and history.
- Another little tip I wanted to share was viewing webpages in landscape mode without opening your keyboard. To do this simply press the MENU button from within the BROWSER and go down to FLIP ORIENTATION. You should realize tho by doing this you browser will continue to be in landscape the next time it's used. In order to return it to it's normal portrait mode just follow these steps once again.
-There are a number of other things you can mess around with or find with the MENU button within the browser so just take a look at it yourself even if you don't want to do any of these tips.
My last phone melted and I have to hold my hands up to say I never backed it up or synced it to an external source so when it screwed up I lost a lot of my contacts, not something I want to happen again.
Firstly do I want to save them to my sim or my phone, I would normally guess Sim card but cant they be saved to the SD card ? This would seem to be the best option ? When entering a new contact there is the option to save them to the gmail account that I set up so I could use the android market ? I don?t use gmail as I already have my own domain email accounts that I have had for years and I host through hotmail. As I have the account I am happy to use it as a dumping ground if there is the option of syncing all of my contacts to it ?
Then when I connect to HTC sense it wants to sync my contacts ..... Where is it trying to syc them to? Outlook ? I don?t use outlook but again if it will keep my contacts safe then I can use it for safety. Looking at my contacts there is the option to export to SD card, is this exporting from the sim ? Or from the phone?
Anybody know how to do this.i want to add contacts pix while i store new numbers but i dont see option to save pix to the sd card/phone.
