Mar 10, 2010Since 9:00am on March, 10, the ratings for one of my apps has DECREASED by 6, from 45 ratings down to 39. What would the cause of this be? Is this a sign of another breakage of the market stats/ ratings? I have a question regarding this posted at the blackhole that is the Market Forum, but have of course not heard a thing. Anyone else experiencing this recently?

Mar 14, 2010Are there statistics as to what percentage of users are using a screen resolution. I am looking for something like the platform versions breakdown Google provided a few months ago. What I am wondering is if its worth the extra effort to ensure proper display of my apps in QVGA or other odd resolutions.

Jun 14, 2010Would like to know, from someone who has tried it, if changing an Application's title in the Developer Console has any affect on the applications Ratings or Number of download statistics. In other words, will I lose anything?
My impression is no, but I don't recall if documentation says that explicitly or if its just implied. Would like to know from someone who has tried it. I don't want to experiment with my app.
Steps to change Title. Go to Developer Console->click link for the app->Look for Listing Details-> Change the Title ->click Save

Sep 27, 2010We've all heard the horror stories (I just bought my Desire and the battery lasts for about 4 hours!) and the fanboy wankery (I get at least 3 days of heavy use!) So today I unplugged my Desire at about 6am and set off for work. It's 7pmish now and here's some stuff you may like to look at. I have 3G disabled, Sync on manual, no "live" widgets (just WiFi and bluetooth) live wallpaper (nexus) and screen brightness on auto. Here's the battery status (rounded up from 25% according to Battery Info in the Testing app)
The breakdown of usage:
My phone was idle for 9 hours and 45 mins:
The Display was on for a mere 2hours and 46 mins
With only 1.5 hours of WiFi:
And 30 mins of calls:
So, that'll be less than 3 hours of usage.

Nov 26, 2009Does anyone know of a way of viewing a breakdown of phone memory usage? If it starts getting full (which presumably won't take long given the measly amount we have to begin with) I'll want to know what to delete or trim to free up space.
SMS messages are stored on the phone memory, aren't they?

Aug 2, 2010I'm going to exchange my Cappy at bestbuy today. I had 100% battery when I woke up, make an 3 min call, browsed for about 15 minutes and I'm down to 70%. I normally have to charge it 2 or more times a day. The battery usage thing shows display using 70%. That seems a bit high. Its on its lowest brightness setting too
Then the GPS thing. it would be nice if that worked. I'm going to love this phone one way or another!
My phone was built on 7/10/2010, the battery was 7/4/2010. Is there an easy way to tell if its a newer build or not? Does anyone know the IEMI breakdown?
Android :: Print To The Console In An App?
Jun 23, 2010Can I run an Android app through the emulator and make it print strings to my computer's console? By console I mean the standard place you would expect to see a System.out.println() in a normal java application. So if you ran the java application from the command prompt then you will see the println()s in the command prompt or if you ran the program in eclipse you will see it in the Console tab at the bottom.

Apr 3, 2010Is there a way to make LogCat's output to appear in Console view in Eclipse? LogCat view is much less convenient that Console, because it's hard to see long messages in it (they are trimmed by column border) and there are no clickable highlighting in exception stack traces to quickly navigate to source of error. Just to make clear - I'd like to have clickable stacktraces, like the ones in normal Eclipse console so I can quickly navigate to the source of error.

Oct 5, 2010I'm trying to write test harness for part of my Android mapping application.
I would like to run the test as a Java console app under Eclipse. The only Google maps class that I require is a GeoPoint. I've included the maps.jar in the build path and imported the com.google.android.maps.GeoPoint so it compiles OK but generates a runtime error of: "The JAR of this class file belongs to container 'Google APIs[Android2.1 - update1]' which does not allow modifications to source attachments on its entries".
Is it possible to use this jar in a console app, and if so how?

Jul 5, 2010I posted a free app and I've got a couple users who posted a comment saying that the app force closes in google's feedback. It's got a few hundred downloads in the day it's been up with an 84% retention rate. Google's error report in the developer's console says it has 0 errors. I've never had an app that reported any errors in the console. Does it actually work or am I getting fake reports of force closes? I'm a bit suspicious competitors might be posting the comments, but I don't have any way to confirm that the error reporting google provides does actually work.

May 29, 2009I'm running Eclipse Ganymede on Ubuntu 8.04 and suddenly with no configuration changes as of yesterday am missing logging on the Console Window. I see startup logging when I launch an app but once launched there are no more lines of information. The buttons for Verbose etc are also missing. Log.v messages are not showing. Anyone else seeing this? I'm wondering if one of Ubuntu's updates screwed things up? I may try reinstalling the plug-in or even Eclipse but thought I would check here first.

Neverless, when I switch off the emulator and that I test the application on the real G1 device (which is linked to computer with USB), there is no log anymore.
