Android :: Phone Gets Reset Automatically

I am browsing a lot on my android phone.Some times I see it gets restarted automatically in idle state. I saw the log and appears android.intent.action.REBOOT is causing the reset. But it seems only system can send this intent and I not able to figure out why system sending this intent. Long time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself.And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. But there weren't any apps on the device in the first place that were really out of the ordinary.- Gmail POP3 Yahoo- Corporate E-Mail to Microsoft Exchange Server (No, it wasn't the Exchange Admin sending a kill package, I'm the Exchange Admin)

- Facebook
- Beautiful Widgets
- Cal Widget
- Google Maps
- Pandora
I have all of those apps and more on my Motorola Droid (also connected to the same Exchange Server) and my device is behaving just fine.I'm trying to think of reasons this might happen and I'm drawing a complete blank.

Is there such as APP which I could run to "re-reset" the sounds I set. Now and then the sounds are reset to the default and it is annoying. When I detect it, I have the fun going through setting the noises back to what I want. This is annoying. I thought when I set the sounds they were "saved" somewhere. But setting the sounds again and again, and again.

I have been messing around with some ROMs on my Droid1, every time I flash a new rom it auto restores my apps. It hasn't done this at all until today. I have tried disabling it in my settings but it still doesn't stop. Also when I go into the downloads page in the market to cancel them, I can some of them but when I try to cancel the others if causes the market to force close. I would like to know if there is anyway to stop google from auto downloading them when I sign in? When I turned off the backup it said it would delete the info from googles servers, but it obviously has not lol because I have tried flashing the rom over again since then. I know most people would like this to happen, but I want a clean install.

At first I thought that I had bought an application by accident an just requested for the refund. Everything was fine but then I kept getting emails thanking me for purchasing apps which I would immediately request for refund. I already did a hard reset on my phone and I was wondering if I had to cancel my email and my card or if there's anything else I can do.

Is there a way for me to completely reset the phone to make it seem i never had root? or like if i just bought it brand new? im not talking about the wipe in the recovery menu. I need a different way.Story: I was switching roms & i by mistake pressed Wipe battery informations or something like that, (using Amon Ra 1.5.2 recovery) The phone got messed up & i put the Dreaimg.nbh in the boot thing, & reset the phone.. i dont have root anyymore but when i go into recovery (non-root recovery, just plain with the exclamation on top of a phone) it says on the bottom of it : "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"I'm sure that is messing with everything, since it wont let me root my phone once more.. Do i need to unroot my phone just in case?

If I connect to my home WiFi, it works well. I'll go out of the house and come back a few hours later and the phone does not automatically connect to my home WiFi. If I go to settings, I can see it detects my home WiFi, but says "Connection unsuccessful, select to try again." When I select it, it connects and works fine. My problem is, I don't think I should have to physically select my WiFi network everytime I come home. Shouldn't it see it and connect automatically? What am I dong wrong? Do I have a setting turned on/off that should be different?

Maybe I am misunderstanding something but I believe Android is supposed to automatically kill "unused" tasks after a while. Is that correct? I own a Galaxy S and I see that I still have in the running tasks list some apps that I haven't used for more than 18 hours. And these taks do not make any kind of auto sync, they communicate with the network only when used actively. Am I misunderstanding something?

Set it up last night and went through the basic set up screens that pop up automaticall. I set up the email account I use all the time but also set up a GMAIL account as I had read that Android really likes to sync with GMAIL. Once these were done I then set up a couple of things on the home screens and then thought right, time to get some apps. Clicked on the Market icon, selcted a couple of things to download, like google voice control app, clicked ok. Download seemed to start but withing 10 seconds in the notification bar I got an error saying download unsuccessful please try later.
Now basically all I have done is set up the very basics on a brand new phone, created a brand new GMAIL account, just with username and password, and thats it. I have also tried a full factory reset of the phone and starting over, but still no good. Is there something else I need to do, that the phone isn't prompting me to do or is there something wrong somewhere.

I and my customer have had the same problem uploading new versions of my App. tried and failed: Load from website load from USB using adb install reset G1 to factory setting. After reset of phone the error message for ADB is Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS].

Why a Froyo factory reset really isn't (plus, a fix for upgrade issues) | Android Central Its in reference to the X but I am going to factory reset tonight and see what happens."If you're one of those folks who is less than pleased with your Droid X after the Froyo update, this one's for you. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update.His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! In the source of Android I found programs written in language C ("dsp_core.c" and "dsp_dtmf.c") which are capable of decode DTMF. I've recorded (amr file) with my phone a conversation in which the one I'm calling dials DTMF tones from his cell and I would like to use the program to detect those tones and that my phone automatically calls the number that he dialed. My Desire has restarted itself a number of times automatically. Twice it restarted when I powered it up. It powered up and then restarted. Three times, it restarted while I was using the Navigation app. I wasn't actually using the turn by turn navigation. I started it and just started up the map. It worked for about a minute and then the phone restarted. The restart while the Navigation app was running happened twice today.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Do you recall what you were doing when it restarted?

I am really starting to hate my EVO. It took a week for me to download a paid app, now I am not getting the new update, and I can't access the manage my apps setting. My brother bought his phone the same time I did, and he's not having any of these problems. I am wondering how do I reset it? maybe and hopefully I wont have as much problems with it.

I recently bought an unlocked T-Mobile CLIQ and I'm using it in Canada (FIDO). I have 2 SIM cards that I've been testing with the CLIQ. On one phone SIM, the phone works perfectly fine no complaints (in fact, its quite a good phone). However, on my 2nd SIM card, the phone has problems picking up a signal, so it spends most of its time on Emergency Call Only and then to add insult to injury, the phone will automatically restart after several minutes. I have a hard time believing that a SIM card can cause this phone to mess up but I can't explain how it works for one SIM, but not for another?

I have been having this issue for a while. I was actually hoping that this morning's OTA update would fix the issue, however it did not. I do not know if it is just me or if this is a known issue. Sometimes (about 25% of the time) when I turn on my phone one of the apps on my home screen will automatically start. It is usually my calender app or Documents to Go, but it is always an app on my home screen. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix for it?
