Android :: How To Get Contacts And Calendar From Droid Into Palm
Jun 25, 2010This is more hypothetical than anything, but I was thinking that if I ever want to travel to Europe, I could bring my Palm Treo with me and buy a SIM card there, since my Verizon Moto Droid wouldn't work there.
So how could I get my calendar and contacts from my Droid and into my Palm?

Anyway, to prepare for the move, how do I get my Palm contacts into Gmail's contacts? Is that how it works? I need to move my Palm contacts to Gmail contacts, right? Then when I get my new EVO, it will sync with Gmail and my contacts will be in the new phone?

May 4, 2010I've used Palm phones for the last 10 years and I'm making the switch to Android soon. The Palm program I use the most (and rely on daily) is DateBk (by Pimlico). I've used DateBk for the last 4 years and love it.
One big reason I'm moving to an Android phone is to push all I can into the "Cloud." That way I can have everywhere access to my information and schedule and it's automatically backed up. So I really don't want to buy DateBk (even if it comes to Android) because it's not really a "Cloud" friendly program.
Is Google Calendar coupled with the free "Remember the Milk" app (or maybe it's $10 for Android users) a good replacement for DateBk?
HTC EVO 4G :: Calendar Syncing With Palm Pre
Jun 5, 2010This is a big issue for me, so I hope somebody has a fix. I have one Google calendar. When I sync only the last 2 months show all events. Past that, only a few events show up here & there. I've heard of this problem before but never had a sync issue with my Palm Pre. Imagine that. Can anyone list the steps to correct this, if possible.

I was wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions on an easy way to get my contacts from the Pre to the Evo, without me having to enter in all 115 of them? Would it be practical to enter them all into my Gmail account? if so, will the EVo download all of them from the cloud? What about BlueTooth? will the Pre shoot all of my contacts to the EVO via bluetooth Lastly, desktop software: IS there some software that will allow the pre to sync my contacts to Outlook? And will the Evo retrieve that info from outlook?

I have a Centro and recently, just testing, moved all my contacts to Gmail and "some" of like 10 years of Calendar data (but not nearly all of it) - an no Memeo's or Tasks. Well, my Droid should be here in a few days and I wonder.. should I kill off and delete my test Calendar data and my contacts from my Gmail account? I plan to use that CompanionLink to do a 1 time sync of my Palm data and want to mitigate any issues and just have a nice clean port over. Best to remove what I have done OR leave what I have done since CompanionLink and Google will sort it out (redundant entries).

May 18, 2010I just pre-ordered the EVO yesterday. Since this is at Radio Shack, I am assuming that they won't be able to transfer the contacts from me pre to the EVO. Is this correct? I decided to go ahead and fix all my contacts on gmail anyway just in case. This gives me something to do while waiting for my EVO.... Will the Evo import all my contacts when I log into my gmail account and set it as my main sync account? What I am doing is this:
1. I installed the 'contacts to email' patch using preware and exported all my contacts as a vcard file. This is probably a good idea anyway. I don't completely trust "cloud" storage.
2. I sent myself the email and then imported this vcard file into gmail contacts. This resulted in about 350 contacts in gmail. I'm now working through them doing edits and combining duplicates. Is this the best way to prepare my contacts for the EVO?

When first connecting it showed synching email, contacts and calendar. Problem is that I see the emails and can answer no problem. But how do I access my exchange calender? Also when composing new mail or forwarding I don't have the company contacts available through exchange, I only have the contacts on my phone which comes from gmail. Is this normal? I have/had a T-Mobile Dash and I love it but its time to move on The 2 biggest deals breakers for me was no tethering (sp?) with my laptop and no sync for outlook (basically for calender as contacts get less updating and go directly on the phone) Tether- hopefully someone will make it work (come on, I got the internet on my Dash for 5.99 with just 2 proxy settings) Well back to the point
There are a couple of ways to get your contacts to your G1. I tried downloading the Wrike program and guess what, it does not work because I don't have Exchange Server 2007 yet maybe 90% of this site doesn't either I tried exporting my Outlook contacts into a CSV file then importing them into my Google contacts but some names did not come up properly, so that did not work.............

Jan 6, 2010I'll be buying and Android phone with Verizon sometime soon. The one issue stopping me at the moment has to do with the capabilities of the calendar/contacts apps, and I'm hoping someone who is familiar with the android OS can give me a workaround (so I can justify buying one sooner rather than later.)
I've been using Palm Treo's for years, and use my phone for running my business, including scheduling clients and making notes about client sessions. With the Treo, and using a third party calendar app (Datebk), I can link someone in my contacts/address book to an appointment. So when I look at my Wednesday 1pm appointment with John Doe, with one click I can go to a list of all appointments I've had with him over the years, and can easily go to any of them and find session notes, etc. It basically links my contacts and calendar so I have access to all the info on that client easily. (The old Palm PIM when was genius).
Is it possible to do anything remotely like this with Android? In the little playing around with Google Calendar, and in playing with the Droid and Eris at the Verizon store, I couldn't see that there's any way to do this, without manually creating a list of session dates for a client every time I make an appointment. I know that the Datebk creators have talked about an Android app coming later in the year, so I may have to wait till that happens. Much as I'd love to upgrade now, I run my business on my phone, and having the capability to handle client/session info in a way I can easily access is near the top of my priority list.
Android :: Cannot Sync Outlook - Contacts - Calendar - Notes
May 18, 2010I have an HTC Incredible on Verison running Android 2.1. With the Blackberry (NOT Exchange), I was easily able to sync contacts, calendar, Tasks, and notes with my BB. I cannot seem to do this with the Incredible.
I actually found an HTC Sync program on my phone which I installed and was able to sync the calendar and contacts once, but I have been unable to do so again. I have not found any snyc for notes or tasks. This seems like such a standard need that I cannot understand why it is not a basic ability on this awesome phone.
Anyway, I need to be able to sync my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes AND I would like to be able to backup my phone to my PC.

(I can get to some coffee shops where there is free WiFi, but not easily) Is there a way WITHOUT THIRD PARTY APPS - through USB - to connect my Android phone to my PC, and sync or bring down my Gmail, Gmail Contacts and Google Calendar. Maybe this is not true... but it seems, since the iPhone offers this functionality, that Google would also offer it. I realize the world is going wireless.... but (OK, I'm in another country), it's not quite there yet.

Looking at Spare Parts and the battery information, google uses MAYBE a minute a day for syncing, which is absolutely nothing.
Anyways, anyone know how often it syncs? Seems to be every 12-24 hours.

Secondly, it would be great if there were an all-inclusive app that drew on your contacts to post, say, a contact's birthday directly to your calendar, and also allowed you to use that contact's information to dial them up on the phone, msg them, email them, etc.
