I need to transfer the file from Android mobile (Client) to standalone PC (Server) via network. Please let me know is there any good Open source android apps available to transfer the files (any type of file) to server via HTTP protocol?.

I was chatting with someone on MSN the other day, who was using an older Sony Ericsson mobile (no android). This person could snap pictures with the mobile, and send them directly to me over MSN, and also send other files, like mp3s and such.As far as I know, Meebo and Ebuddy can't do this. They can't even recieve the files. Surely my $500 Desire must be able to do this somehow? Which IM apps are able to do this, while also storing logs?Would it really be that hard for Microsoft to do an android version of MSN, just like it works on a computer? I mean why storing logs on Meebo's server, when they could be stored on your SD ?

We are hiking in and I won't be bringing my clunky large laptop.I have a GPS that will store 5 days of data to synch with a camera, but need to dump the data somewhere every 5 days or it becomes useless from that point on. Is there an app for the Droid that will allow me to connect directly to this device via the USB interface (SIMA GPS, has a USB out/in) that I can transfer and store the data file from the GPS, then dump onto my PC when I return home?

Does anyone have any ideas on how this could be done? It would be a lot faster than having to plug in every time you want to transfer things wile not having to be right at your desk.
View 16 Replies View RelatedMy eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...
Can some give me advice on what I could use to write code to transfer a file from one phone to another.

Quite honestly I had never used bluetooth before, but since this phone has it I am playing around with it.I tried Astro and ES File explorer, but those work only if I need to transfer files between phones.I then found out Bluetooth File Transfer which lets me share files between my phone and my laptop. That app is very nice, and also by the same developer Dual File Manager.both free from the market.But I supposed file transfer via bluetooth between a laptop or other devices and the phone was a given.Is an extra app absolutely necessary or did I miss something? What other File Managers with bluetooth support do you know of?

This seems like it should be a very common thing to do, but I simply can't find it. If I plug it into a usb port, I can access the drives. Can this be done via wifi?

Android file transfer won't recognise my HTC one running 4.3 when connected,I tried using it on Windows on the same Mac via boot camp and it works, it's just the Android file transfer which is not detecting the device it says "connect the device via the cable" well something like that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to allow data transfer over a wireless networ between the galaxy and a computer? I currently can't find my transfer cable and when I email myself songs and download them onto my phone, they are stored as a .mpx which play fine untill the phone is turned off or otherwise refreshes. After this, when trying to play the .mpx files an error message saying"No applications can perform this action" despite the songs playing fine only minutes before.However it would be damn useful just to connect my phone to the network, but while it connects, it doesn't appear in the devices connected to the network.

If I click on the Finder Button and look at the left side, my S3 isn't recognized or it isn't there so I cannot Eject it. And I found out that It's connected just on the Android File Transfer .. so How do I eject it then? Android File Transfer doesn't have an eject button anywhere.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI love the native music player that comes stock on android (via google music). I also use a mac, and I'm in Canada (so I can't take full advantage of the google music service, I.E. storing music in the cloud and managing it that way. In order to put music on my android phone i simply select the songs in my itunes and and drag them into the music folder in Android File Transfer. This works, however, there is one problem: the songs aren't organized into folders, which makes it extremely difficult to organize / delete music from my phone when I want to, as the songs are organized as 01 01 01 01 01 01 02 02 02 02 02 02 03 03 03 03 etc. I tried to right click the music folder and say new folder but it won't create that folder in the music folder. I tried moving the songs into that folder then dragging it into the music folder but that won't work.
I really don't want to use double twist, because I have in the past, and I don't really like it all that much. I just want my files to be organized into folders so that when I can delete them later when I want to.
I'm trying to download a large .zip file from a web server but I have a weird behaviour, the description is:
- I'm executing the code in the device emulator, API level 3 (version 1.5) with an SD card of 512MB. I start the device with "Wipe data user"
- The length of the size from conexion.getContentLength() is 7012725
- The server address is localhost (10.0.2.2), but I've tried with an external server and the behaviour is the same. I've double checked that I can download the file through a web browser.
- I have these permisions in the manifest file:

The error:
- It starts downloading the file, I can see the text 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and then it stops at 60. - After a while, the emulator reboots itself.
Workarounds:
- About the possible wifi lock, what I've done is add this permission "android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" and then this piece of code, but with exactly the same behaviour:

I used Astro to back up my apps to SD, then installed them on the X, but they now dont show up in Market. They are just on the phone. so updates and such will not be found. Using the market enabler I was able to purchase paid apps (I'm from Ireland where we don't have a paid apps store). I've recently switched to a Milestone. To the best of my knowledge the market enabler will not work with the Milestone because it is not rooted yet.
Is there a way I can get the apps I've paid for already from my Galaxy to my Milestone? I bought CoPilot sat nav app, and this is what I'm thinking abut most. It was pretty expensive, and I'm not going to buy it again.
I contacted CoPilot and they told me I had to wait until the paid app store comes to Ireland. Is there any (legal) way I can get my CoPilot on my Milestone?
