This morning I stupidly managed to drop my phone down the toilet. Took it to CPW and got a brand new one replaced (luckily still had insurance). One thing's that disappointed me is that all my apps have disappeared. I'm having a relapse in memory and for the life of me can't remember the apps I had installed. Anyone have any good apps to recommend? Good music players, good ebook readers, etc? Games?

As the title suggests, can someone recommend a good Android RPG? Not necessarily the kind where you just do jobs and fight (like Mafia Wars), but more of a 3D RGP, like D&D type stuff or even Final Fantasy. Any good ones out there?

I was wondering what some good free games were. Im just looking for some fun games to kill time with and to play around with when Im bored. Where are the great 3D shooters? I've found some, but they aren't very good and some are really bad. Are the good ones just hidden or burried? do they exist? The device should rock some shooting but I can't find one worth my time.

View 19 Replies View RelatedDon't get me wrong, I didn't get a desire for gaming (i think we have got a long way to go before Android is a viable gaming platform), but I am sometimes surprised by the Desire's inability to run some games properly. Snapdragon processors seem very good at number crunching, but struggle with graphics. Look at the Quake 2 comparison of the Galaxy S and the Desire. of course, the Galaxy S is going to win, but I was surprised just how bad the Desire game out. can't have been more than 3-5 frames per second. I have seen this in other areas to, like the recent Sims 3 conversion for Snapdragon processors. Again, once things get a bit busy on the screen, the snapdragon simply starts to drop a ton of frames. So, are we seeing devs not optimising games for snapdragon processors? Or are snapdragons simply no good for games? That said, raging thunder 2 runs quite well. Like I said, this is more out of interest than anything else. Really like the Desire and never intended to do much 3d gaming on it, but some early results have been a little disappointing.

Love racing games but unfortunately this phone can't handle graphics like the big boys out there. Really just looking for a fun game, doesn't have to be visually extreme.

What are the best sources for applications like that? I want to look over the source code to get myself up to speed quickly.

I have jorte calendar, but I do find it annoying that you can't read what's in the box, as even the smallest font is too big. Any ideas on a better calendar. I don't get the point of weather widgets. I don't need to know the exact temperature every time I look at my phone. I just check the weather app once in the morning and I'm good for the day. The weather doesn't change that often people!
I don't need a clock widget. The time is always displayed at the top anyway, and on my phone's lock screen too along with the date. I don't use any alarm clocks. I don't use the calendar for anything. My days are all the same. I don't follow any sports. I got rid of the search widget that was running on my phone since there's a dedicated search button on the phone.
I do enjoy following politics and technology news (I'm a computer programmer). Right now there's a single widget running on my phone called "Battery Indicator" because I like to know the exact percentage of power remaining rather than an graphic approximation. So, any widget recommendations for me? Any cool widgets you enjoy that you think I might wanna try?
