Does anybody know a setting to stop K-9 mail from from showing messages already read from showing unread? If some have been deleted it reloads others from server showing them unread. POP3 clients on PC or Mac will show same messages as read. The native mail client isn't doing this but I don't like the way you cannot select and copy text in that app.

i set up my yahoo account on my galaxy with 1.6 and everything is working perfectly, except that when i log in online, all my mail is marked as read.basically every time the phone goes and gets the new email is marks them as read on the server/webmail.I primarily check my mail online as opposed to the phone so this is a big problem. i've gone through the settings of both the default mail client as well as K9 and i cant find anything to change this behavior.i have yahoo mail plus and have also looked through the prefrences in my yahoo mail options.does anyone have an idea on how to use pop mail while keeping unread messages as unread on the server?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a few gmail accounts on my Droid and that work fine, but my msn email that I added has a problem. If I get messages and don't open them, then 15 minutes later I get a notification of new mail, but when I check there's nothing new. So then I tried marking messages read to prevent this but some of the messages revert to unread on their own then renotify me as if I have new messages. So I either have to open them or delete them to stop getting false notifications.
Anyone else have this issue, any settings I can change that will fix this? Nobody has access to this email account except me so I know it's not a matter of someone marking unread from the desktop.
I just switched from the HTC eris to the Droid and had no issues with IMAP on the eris which is running 1.5 OS. What's happening is I setup my personal domain email as imap and all works. I mark all messages in the inbox as read. When new email comes in it marks the entire inbox as new. I've deleted the account multiple times and done a hard reset. I even tested this in the store on 2 phones.
Moto doesn't have an answer and I found this thread on the VZ forums Droid IMAP emails always Unread - Verizon | Forums and Blogs - Verizon Community which the OP is using the same hosting company as I am. I've never had a problem on a WinMo, BB or iPhone setting it up the same way. Something seems off but not sure what it is. I've setup GMail via the same mail app and that's working.
most other smart phones display the unread email count as a small number in the lower right hand corner of the email application icon. I like that. After realizing that this is not supported by the GMail app, I started looking around the market for a widget that achieves this. All I found was a commercial widget, which did not satisfy me (the count did not get instantly updated when the unread mail count changed). Therefore I want to develop a widget, which accomplishes exactly that.Many of you probably have more experience in android development than I do, so I would be happy to hear your opinions. I see two ways to realize this:
1) Somehow hook into a content provider of the GMail app and extract the unread mail count directly from there. Unfortunately the GMail app is not part of the SDK and closed source. Therefore I have no idea how to find out about the internal workings of the app and how to extract the unread mail count directly from there.
2) The second approach is much more indirect and has more overhead, but it will work nevertheless. I will let the user provide google username and password and log into the google imap server directly and find out how many unread mail there are. A port of the JavaMail library for the android OS should make this quite simple. The question remains when to update the mail count. What should trigger the update? A periodic time-out? Well, my first idea would be to update it when the widget is first started and then every time a new mail notification comes in. However I don't know whether this is possible. Can I tell my application to react to notifications, which where produced by another application (GMail app in our case) ?
I really think there should be a free unread gmail widget, which accomplishes this! I would be happy to receive feedback.
I've added my hotmail account to my mail app but every time I load it up all the emails it has pulled down are unread (read on the server), any way to mark them as whatever they're marked as on the server?

It works fine, but every mail I send from the phone shows up as unread in the Sent folder, so when I access the account with other e-mail applications I have all these unread messages in the Sent folder. I have never had any e-mail applications mark Sent mail unread. Is there a way to prevent the Android mail client from marking sent unread?

View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing a Yahoo-based e-mail that I linked up to the Evo. The e-mail on my phone doesn't update at all with what I do on the computer with the e-mail. So I can read and/or delete the e-mail on my computer and it still keeps it as in my inbox and unread on the phone. Thus, the phone can say I show 200 unread emails even though I've read them all. Is there a way to fix this or change the settings?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire with HTC sense. I use the included mail app for two different accounts (non-gmail). On my home screen, I have shortcuts to each mailbox. However, for some reason the unread count is always the same on the two shortcuts. (I get a new message in Account A, and both shortcuts show 1 unread message.) Any idea how to fix this? Otherwise I like the mail app, and I'm not looking to change the app. Just wondering if this is a common problem with an easy fix.

I looked in the market and couldn't find anything.There has to be an app for that, it seems so basic.If I'm not making sense: I have handcent and the Handcent widget puts a little number of unread messages in the corner of the widget.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe Original email app on my galaxy s3 one day decided to become stuck on 1 unread email. Whether i have read all emails or 5 unread emails, the app displays 1 unread email.I have tried 'Clearing cache' and 'Clear data' several times on both the email app and gmail(Gmail just for the sake of it even though it is unrelated)also, deleted all my inbox, junk and trash emails online. However, no matter what i do the icon still displays 1 unread email.
My phone is not rooted and has been and still working perfectly fine apart from this issue.I know that the issue isn't that big of a deal since technically email and everything is working, but that 1 on the email icon really annoys me.I have uploaded a screenshot of what i'm talking about just incase i haven't made myself clear.
for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

I have a bunch of server-side filters that move unread email into different folders, but its not possible on the Hero to see which imap folders have unread items (except In box). I've tried both the Mail app and K-9 but couldn't find a setting to show them. Anyone else figured it out?
I'm running xtr 4.0.6.1 with LP Pro. Really like the setup and especially the dock at the bottom from LP. I have Phone, Mail, App Drawer, SMS, and GMail on my dock. I spend 80% of my time there in the Mail app as my Eris is primarily a work device for me, and my company uses Exchange. My issue is this, under Menu > Preferences, there are settings to turn on notification for Unread Gmail, Unread SMS, and Missed Calls. These notifications are down on the dock, not in the top notification bar. It's nice to have those three, but what I really need is the notification for Unread Mail (like the Sense icon has). I've been bouncing around the Launcher Pro website and came across somebody asking for exactly the same thing. In post #5 a user talks about using SDK to code it in manually via adb, and he's even provided the code. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my work e-mail and the e-mail language (exchange server, POP, IMAP, ports, SSL) has always confused me. The two ways I can access my e-mail is through Outlook in the office and webmail anywhere else.
I just downloaded K-9 and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up. Am I supposed to do it by syncing with Outlook, through Webmail, or something different. Depending on which one, do I select POP3, IMAP, or WebDav(Exchange)? I tried exchange and used my webmail logins for username and password and then the Microsoft Exchange Server name that shows up in my Outlook as the WebDAV (Exchange) server. The port defaulted at 80 and I tried to do that but it didn't work.
I already have searched and google'd but can't find the solution as to how to set up K9 to Push my yahoo mail account.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the K-9 email app for some of my email accounts that aren't gmail. I have it working the way I want save only one problem. Right now when I get a mail it flashes the subject line or the first line of the email across my notification bar at the top of my screen. This is especially troubling when I'm in the car and I have my droid mounted in the car dock. I don't necessarily like my passengers in the car to be able to read the email message I just got as their heads whip to the droid when it says ..... DROID!
Handcent app doesn't have this problem. I can set each individual contact to a privacy mode where so I only get notified, but no part of the text appears in the notification bar. Is there a similar "privacy" setting for K-9 that I'm missing? If I can't get this figured out soon I'm going to have to try another email app.
How do you stop the Droid Eris mail from not keep checking for new mail? I tried clicking stop and closing it but it still keeps refreshing all new email. Any help to stop this action?

However I am having some problems with the outbound settings.We do no require login for the outgoing server. Is there something in 2.2 that doesn't like yahoo? I had a Samsung Vibrant, 2.1, for a couple of weeks and my yahoo account set up perfectly. Please keep in mind that I am a total rookie with these smart phones so be gentle, i.e. no acronyms, OK?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first setup my Incredible, I signed on to Gmail. Whenever I receive an e-mail, I get two, one Gmail and one HTC. I dragged the HTC mail widget to the recycle bin. Than I went to manage applications and forced stop the HTC mail. This works until I power off the phone. Each time I boot it back up, I need to go to applications and choose forced stop. It is a small pain but still a pain. One is this happening to anyone else and second does anyone have a solution?

I have tried removing my account/adding it again, it still only fetches the mails that where fetched before the 15th oktober.
I have the same mailsetup on my own computer, fetches new mails just fine, no problems.
Any suggestions what to do?
I get an new email, I don't want to read it right now, so I clear the notification but five minutes later i get a new mail notification for the same message and continue to.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I send an e-mail from my Droid using my GMail account with the default GMail app, it sends me a copy of the e-mail. It does not do this with my other e-mail app. This is terribly annoying. I don't want a new e-mail of the e-mail I just sent in my inbox every time I send an e-mail. Is it possible to turn this off? I looked for a "reciept" option in the settings, but found nothing. The other e-mail app does not do this for my non-gmail accounts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Gmail. When I receive an e-mail, I get the same e-mail twice one in the HTC mail box and the other in the Google mail box. I have tried to delete the HTC mail but it will not allow me. If I go to manage applications and choose HTC mail, I can choose forced stop which temporarily stops the double e-mail. It will always revert back however to receving e-mails. Is there a way to permanently stop HTC mail or delete it permanently?
