How do you stop the Droid Eris mail from not keep checking for new mail? I tried clicking stop and closing it but it still keeps refreshing all new email. Any help to stop this action?

My mail was working fine up until I updated to 2.1.
Now my mail won't refresh automatically; if I go into the mail app and manually refresh the mail still comes through, but even though I have it set to refresh every hour it doesn't seem to do so!
I have all the alerts on, and I have also tired deleting and re-adding the account again with no luck!
Recently I installed BHMAN's 1.6 ROM without TW, and I'm having a problem where sometimes my clock widgets stop refreshing the time.
Now i've searched for this problem and usually the best solution to this is to delete any task managers installed, which I cannot because the task manager is embedded into Home++, so I'm thinking the only way to get rid of the task manager is to delete the whole Home++, correct? I'm using ADW launcher at the moment.
I want my Gmail account to stay added so I can sync my emails, but I'm not interested in having every email address I have ever emailed added to my phone contacts! How do I stop this? I have looked under Accounts & Sync > Google > - here it only gives 3 options "Sync calendar", "Sync contacts" and "Sync Google Mail". Under each one it says "Select to sync all" and if I press any of them it just updates & syncs. There is no option to remove the things (contacts) that I would not like synced!
View 7 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know a setting to stop K-9 mail from from showing messages already read from showing unread? If some have been deleted it reloads others from server showing them unread. POP3 clients on PC or Mac will show same messages as read. The native mail client isn't doing this but I don't like the way you cannot select and copy text in that app.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi set up my yahoo account on my galaxy with 1.6 and everything is working perfectly, except that when i log in online, all my mail is marked as read.basically every time the phone goes and gets the new email is marks them as read on the server/webmail.I primarily check my mail online as opposed to the phone so this is a big problem. i've gone through the settings of both the default mail client as well as K9 and i cant find anything to change this behavior.i have yahoo mail plus and have also looked through the prefrences in my yahoo mail options.does anyone have an idea on how to use pop mail while keeping unread messages as unread on the server?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I first setup my Incredible, I signed on to Gmail. Whenever I receive an e-mail, I get two, one Gmail and one HTC. I dragged the HTC mail widget to the recycle bin. Than I went to manage applications and forced stop the HTC mail. This works until I power off the phone. Each time I boot it back up, I need to go to applications and choose forced stop. It is a small pain but still a pain. One is this happening to anyone else and second does anyone have a solution?

I have tried removing my account/adding it again, it still only fetches the mails that where fetched before the 15th oktober.
I have the same mailsetup on my own computer, fetches new mails just fine, no problems.
Any suggestions what to do?
I get an new email, I don't want to read it right now, so I clear the notification but five minutes later i get a new mail notification for the same message and continue to.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I send an e-mail from my Droid using my GMail account with the default GMail app, it sends me a copy of the e-mail. It does not do this with my other e-mail app. This is terribly annoying. I don't want a new e-mail of the e-mail I just sent in my inbox every time I send an e-mail. Is it possible to turn this off? I looked for a "reciept" option in the settings, but found nothing. The other e-mail app does not do this for my non-gmail accounts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Gmail. When I receive an e-mail, I get the same e-mail twice one in the HTC mail box and the other in the Google mail box. I have tried to delete the HTC mail but it will not allow me. If I go to manage applications and choose HTC mail, I can choose forced stop which temporarily stops the double e-mail. It will always revert back however to receving e-mails. Is there a way to permanently stop HTC mail or delete it permanently?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat's your work around for e-mail notifications in the middle of the night. I really don't want to change setting every night just to set them back each morning. (the phone sits in the docking station on the nightstand). I guess I could just silent phone with the volume shortcut on the side of the phone, however if I receive a call or text in the middle of the night 99% of the time it is truly important. As stupid as it is, I have the crank yankers "I got mail" notification for my e-mail accounts for work and home. My wife says that if it goes off one more time in the night (lately about 3-4 times a night, & at all hours) she is going to smash my phone. Half the time it doesn't wake me up, and if it does, I can fall back asleep no problem. But for the sake of keeping wifey happy, I have to come up with a solution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I leave a wifi zone and the phone switches to mobile data I get annoying notification messages/bong from the stock email app that it "can't sign in to Yahoo mail". If I follow the notification it says the username/password is wrong which is obviously crap because it has no trouble getting mail over wifi.

What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to develop a small app, that can retrieve GPS coordinates, and store them, so I can retrace the path I took. The thing is, the GPS on Android emulator is kind of screwing around with my nerves... First of all, the Mock Position system doesn't work, so I'm manually fixing the coordinates with telnet "geo fix" command. Second of all, the location listener seems to not be refreshing. I'm lauching the app, fixing a first set of coordinates, and observing the response I expect. But when I push a second set of coordinates, the app simply doesn't react.
I tried a lot -big lot- of ideas on this, and I'm kind of running short...
By the way, I'm developping on Eclipse with ADT, and the SDK for Android 1.5 (French HTC Heros are still with Android 1.5) so that I can use my own app.

I have a view with a spinner. The activity starts another acvitity with a popup where I add or delete values that the parent shows in the Spinner.
So, in onActivityResult() I refresh the content of the Spinner so that it reflects any additional or deleted values, by calling my fillSpinner() method.
The parameter to this method is the previously selected value:

When I open the Spinner, it contains the correct list (i.e. it was refreshed) and the correct value is selected. However, the Spinner control itself (in its closed state) does not show the selected value, but the first in the list.
When I step through the code in the debugger, the Spinner value is correct before and after I call setSelection() (and it is always called with the same correct id). However, since I cannot step out of the event, when I resume the execution after a short moment the value in the Spinner changes.
In other words, the spinner's displayed string is changed and is different from the selected item when I return from my popup activity.
I have a listview that's populated by rows that get their data from a web server. It all works totally fine except I want to have a refresh button to re-download the data. I'm getting the data through an asynctask (getting the data in doinbackground) and then setting the listadapter in onpostexecute. All I do to run the asynctask which should take care of everything is run
new PopulateListTask().execute();
However, in my optionsSelect method, creating a new asynctask just like I did in oncreate doesn't do anything. It doesn't even enter doInBackground. I've tried using listView.invalidate() and listView.invalidateViews(). Is there some special way I'm supposed to repopulate a listview?
My only guess is that since I'm using a custom adapter, my getView method is creating some kind of error, but that wouldn't explain why it's not even entering my asynctask's doInBackground method. Thoughts?

I'm getting this in my logcat when executing my asynctask the 2nd time. Any idea what it means? I tried googling to no avail.
I created an Activity which allows navigating between pages with a couple of Buttons (Previous and Next). When the user clicks one of the buttons, the Activity (same) needs to be "refreshed". In order to do this, I set up the buttons to make a call to onCreate(this); after they set up the other stuff that the activity uses for the paging to work. And it is working so far, but I'm wondering if there is a better way. Is there?

I'm updating the TabHost's TabSpec's to change the text on the tabs. This works fine and the ListActivities display correctly.
Iater on the execution flow I need to update the Text on the tabs from "Current Text" to "Current Text (3)", for example. I update the TabSpec.setIndicator() with the new text, and attempt to call invalidate() on the TabWidget (and all it's children). But the tab text refuses to update!
Anyone else having problems with the Weather Widgets app clock not refreshing? The weather seems to do its job every 30 minutes, but the clock gets stuck at times. Like today, it was 3 hours off. Anyone know of a fix for this? I checked for updates, but no luck.

One tab sends an intent and run my ListActivity that populates the screen from a simpleCursorAdapter. My problem is that when I change back to this tab, after the first time its run, the list never refreshes regardless of the changes made to the database via other tabs. Is there something I can call from onTabChanged to refresh my ListActivity?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the Settings menu, there is an "Auto Refresh" option which you can set to "Never," but there is also a "Ticker Refresh" option which you can't turn off. What do each of these things control? Is the Auto Refresh just for when the app is running? Does it affect the widget at all?
Does the Ticker Refresh option only affect the widget? Does it have any effect if the widget is not being used on any homescreen?
My problem is when I want to refresh data in ExpandableListView while being in that current activity. I create adapter and when I want to add new data to list I call again constructor of that adapter(it is my private variable) with all new data....and then I call onContentChanged() method to redraw my list.
But what happens is that I cant expand my list any more...like it is blocked or something and logcat isn't saying anything...

I created a ListView that contains a row which in turn contain text and a button. The idea is to have the button function as a delete button to remove the row from the list as well as the database. I order to do this I created an adapter to handle the button click. This code is below. Deleting the database record works fine, but I have not yet succeeded in refreshing the ListView so the record will no longer be displayed.

The problem I'm seeing is that it the user interface is updating always one behind (i.e. using the previous remoteView to update the user interface). So, i make that call with a certain configuration in remoteViews, and it doesn't reflect in the UI until the next time I call it with a different remoteView. I know this is kinda vague and I don't have a lot of details here, but i was wondering if I'm missing something very obvious.
