Is there a way to mount network shares from a windows box on android? That way you could open a video and have it stream over the network and not have to take up space on your phone?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have a need to roll out tablets to some of my people who work in the field, here is the problem I am running into.
I need them to be able to connect to a network share, open a document, and then save the changes back to the network share.
I am able to access network shares easily enough once I am vpn in. using ES, Astro, x-plore. Simple enough, create shortcuts to shared folder on my network here at HQ.
Problem is that if I open a document on my tablet, change something, and then save it, the changes just get saved to the temporary save location on the android device.They dont end up back on the network share.
I would like for users to be able to just hit save and have the changed document overwrite the original, same as if it was done from a windows laptop.
I cannot mount my phone to my computer. I've tried everything from installing new drivers, to debugging on and off. Nothing seems to work. Anyone still having this problem? please help. I contacted htc, and they don't know what the hell they're talking about. one told me to dl htc sync 2.0.33 then another said to get the latest 2.0.25.....

I am attempting to connect my laptop to the Epic Hotspot. My laptop is able to find SPH-D70002E (Epic) on my laptop's WiFi available network list. When I click on that, I get a Window's error message: "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refers the list of available networks and try to connect again." The SPH-D70002E (Epic) is full bars strength.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a Twitter app that will let you share tweets via email but not using Gmail. I would like to use an email account located on my domain & server, but the only option that appears to be available from the apps I have looked at is by using only Gmail.
I have looked at several Twitter apps, including Twidroyd, Touiteur, Tweetdeck & Seesmic - none of these let you use any email account except for Gmail.
I prefer not to use Gmail as it is both unreliable in sending and insists on CC'ing every email that is sent out, even though I have that setting disabled.
There must be some sort of solution to this - I cannot believe that you cannot use non-Gmail accounts for sharing tweets!
I recently purchased an 8gb sdmicro card for my samsung moment, which i put in my phone, then got home tried to hook it up to my pc with the usb cable...nothning happened, but i got this error warning or so talking about usb malfunction or something, heres a screen shot of what i saw popped up. do i need to install new usb drivers for the phone? also i can hear the pc making that dun dun,... dun dun sound when u plug in a usb device, but it keeps doing it over and over... while the phones charing thru it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).

I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.
When I was in Chrome one day, I clicked the Share button and shared a link to Facebook Messenger.
Now, when I tap Share in any app, it opens up Facebook Messenger immediately, instead of showing the Share menu.
Is this some sort of feature? How do I get the Share menu back again? (I've tried Googling but I've come up with nothing.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

I would like to know if an Android application can open a network connection (socket) on a specified network interface [on a device supporting multiple network interface types WiFi, Cellular, WiMax etc] ? I am looking for the capability for an application to open a socket on a given type of network for example over WiFi network or over 3G Cellular Data network.
If this is possible in Android, how would I code this requirement within the API Framework ? The ConnectivityManager enables an application to learn about available network connections and currently categorises them as either TYPE_WIFI or TYPE_MOBILE.
There is a member function in the ConnectivityManager class called requestRouteToHost(int,int) [url] which "Ensure that a network route exists to deliver traffic to the specified host via the specified network interface. An attempt to add a route that already exists is ignored, but treated as successful." Sounds like this would install an IP routing table entry to reach a given host via a specified network interface type (WiFi or Mobile). After calling this would it be sufficient for an application to open a socket and connect to the desired destination address ?
Or perhaps the application needs to bind() a socket to a local address of a network interface of the desired type (WiFi or Mobile) Or by setting a socket-level socket option of SO_DONTROUTE ?
Is it possible to mount another usb device x to gphone and then create a program that communities to x on the usb port? X is used for capturing data and gphone will be used for analysis/display.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?
I have been trying to get help with this for awhile, but have got no where. I am about to just get a replacement. Only thing holding me back is that my moisture sticker is pink, even though I've never got this phone wet. Anyway, the issue. When plugging my phone to my computer, it will not recognize. Can't run ADB commands, do not get an option on the phone to mount sd card or that it's even connected. However, it will charge. I have loaded different ROM's, reloaded windows, tried it on ubuntu, multiple machines, different sd card in the phone.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI rooted last night, DL LFY and LFY1100 kernel. I installed the kernel and then LFY itself. After trying to reboot it only gets to the custom boot screen and will not launch. After 15 minutes I pulled the battery and tried to launch in recovery mode to load my backup. Upon trying to do that it says cannot mount to SD card. I try again and same thing. After failing to mount it goes into the same custom launch screen for LFY but no OS comes up.
View 41 Replies View RelatedI just added the leaked 2.1 yesterday and was trying to add the new 2.1 music player that a few people have added. I dl'ed it on my computer and connected my eris to my PC through USB. Once I connected, it gave me three options, charge only, HTC Sync, or disk drive. I chose disk drive and added the new musicplayer file to my phone. Forgetting how to access my SD card files, I went to Settings>SD card &phone storage> and quite regretably hit Unmount SD card. In doing this, the only option I have on that screen is to Format (erase) my SD card (Which I'd rather not do). Now when I connect using USB, I only get the first 2 options, charge and HTC sync, and cannot connect with my PC anymore as a disk drive. how I can connect back up with USB to my computer? and where do I go to access the files I've added to my SD card?
