Android :: Marketplace View More Applications Button

Dec 30, 2009

Suggestion for the Marketplace: Change the "View more applications" button to be called "More by developer".
Note: It is under the "About the developer" title, however, I doubt many people take notice of the title.
Please leave a comment or suggestion if you agree / disagree.

Android :: How Marketplace Handles The Information Related To Marketplace Applications?

Jan 8, 2010

Any thought on how the Marketplace handles the information related to the marketplace applications? I wonder if the request is posted to the marketplace every time client is started or if some of the available applications data is stored locally and refreshed by the background service.

Android :: Marketplace Updates / Notified If App Not Installed Through Marketplace?

I created a signed apk. I uploaded it to marketplace as usual. I also installed a copy of it on a device directly, perhaps as an email attachment. If I upload an updated version of the app to the marketplace, will the device be notified that a new version of the app exists on marketplace? Or does that update-alert system depend on the app being originally installed through marketplace?

Android :: Any Better Way To View Available Applications?

Jun 6, 2009

Is there a better way to view available apps than the market? I spent hours trying to go through all the available apps. Finally I got connection error, before it reached the end. There is a wiki app and the T-mobile minutes app I want and I could not find them. There has to be a better way to find and download apps. Is there a t-mobilde or google web site that has a list of the apps available? Also the search does not work, I tried "wiki" and got a few hits, but there were many apps with wiki in title it did not find.

Android :: All Applications View - Multi Page

Nov 13, 2010

Does anyone know of a way to get your 'All Apps' screen to be a fixed multi page view rather than a scrolling list. When it's a scrolling list, it's hard to find what you are looking for quickly, as you first have to work out where you are on the list, then scroll to the required area of the list and find the app (which is always on a different place on the screen as the list moves (ie sometimes it could be at the top, sometimes at the bottom, somtimes in the middle).

On a fixed multi page view, you only need to work out which page you're on, then the app you are looking for will be in a fixed place on it's page (i.e. always top right spot on page 2). I appreciate that this is not a huge time-saving issue, but it would be helpful for me, and sometimes those few extra seconds why trying to find the 'messaging' app can be a pain in the neck. I downloaded some nice wall papers so at the moment am trying out having very clean homescreens, hence using the 'all apps' a lot more.

Android :: Button At Of The List View?

Dec 16, 2009

I want a fix "Cancel" Button at the bottom of the ListView. I want my list View to be scrollable and fix Button at Bottom.

I had added the Button at the bottom of the list with addFooterView (button); but if list is longer than the screen, then we have to scroll down to get the button and if list is very short then Button will be at the middle of the screen just bellow the listview :(

I got Ramain Guy's suggestion of setting height = "0dip" and weight = "1" but by doing this nothing is appearing on the screen (blank view)

Note: my ListView is one tab of the TabHost.

Android :: Inflating A View Into Button?

Jun 30, 2010

Let's say for instance a button is needed with a picture and a text. It would seem natural to create an xml view and then inflate it into the Button. Is this possible?

At the moment I don't need the button to look clickable or change it's color at click, but it could also be interesting to consider how this will be affected by making the inflate.

Btw, I found this one tutorial describing a solution to the same problem, but they were writing a class extending View to obtain the goal. That seems a bit overklill to me. http://kahdev.wordpress.com/2008/09/13/making-a-custom-android-button-using-a-custom-view/

Android :: Button In Custom View?

Apr 5, 2009

I'm trying to create a button in a custom view that I've created. I'm looping through an XML document and drawing certain things. I want to be able to also create buttons to go in certain locations depending on the xml data. I'd like to do it in the view because I want to be able to call invalidate() on my view to redraw things and replace the buttons when new xml data is available.

The problem is that I put my code in the view class, the activity crashes because the button is "null".

Here is a subset of my code:

CODE:............

I know this code works for creating buttons because I can put it in my activity class and it works just fine. Any suggestions? I thought about relocating the button in the activity, but I can't figure out how to do this when new data is available.

Android :: Getting Button To Scroll Into View At Bottom

Sep 8, 2010

I am trying to port an existing iPhone application to android. I wish to have a button scroll into view at the bottom of a GridView to enable the user to load more data from the server. Presently, my solution simply fixes a button at the bottom of the screen instead of having it scroll into view.

Here is my layout code:
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" >
<GridView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/grid"
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:columnWidth="70dp" android:numColumns="auto_fit" android:verticalSpacing="0dp" android:horizontalSpacing="0dp" android:stretchMode="columnWidth" android:gravity="center" android:background="#000000" />
<Button android:id="@+id/load_more" android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Load More" /> </LinearLayout>

Fixing the button at the bottom of the screen won't work because I plan on placing an ad at the bottom. Can anyone either explain conceptually how to get a load more button to scroll into view, or point me to some sample code, OR tell me why this is not idiomatic to Android and what other UI convention it uses to load more data in a GridView?

Android :: View That Contains Several TextViews An ImageView And A Button

Jun 9, 2010

I' have a view that contains several textViews an ImageView and a Button . Because on small screen devices (or in landscape mode on big ones ) not all are visible I use a Scroll as the parent of the whole hierarchy to allow the user to view all the information. The things are suck that the button must be at the buttom of the view . However on big screen device , where it remains enough space at the buttom , the button is put immediatelly below the last textview, and seems to occupy all the remaining space (resulting in an unnactractive view) . Trying to use android:allignParentButtom ="true" not only that it has no effect but it puts the button at top of the screen . Has anyone any ideea how could I accomplish what I described ?

Here's the xml
