I recently released an update to my application (about a week ago).
Since then, I've had two emails from users who report that, while updating the app through Market, the installation process gets "stuck" and never finishes. This is after the application has been downloaded. They can't abort the installation.
Did anyone here have similar reports recently?

After using the unrevoked3 method to root, I downloaded rom manager and obtained the damage control rom to flash. When rom manager prompted to install, I just hit 'yes (or whatever the prompt was)' without checking backup (since I already have one) or clear the cache. Once it reboots and finishes installing, it just hangs at the 'htc EVO 4G' screen and seems to be in an infinite cycle (screen goes blank for a second then back onto the htc evo 4g screen).

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur customers are seeing these errors a lot when purchasing our apps, and other than suggesting a few workarounds(unmount sd card etc), I'm not sure theres anything i can do to fix the issue. Is anyone aware of anything that might be causing it from the app developer side? Obviously our app uploaded fine, and the majority of users can download and install it just fine, but we're seeing this problem a lot and losing a lot of sales because of it. If theres something that we're somehow getting wrong in our app, i'd love to be able to fix it! It seems to be related to Android 2.2 and installing to the sd card Any ideas?

If I want to see historical trends, I need to check the page daily and record the numbers myself -- an annoyance at best. Is this info available anywhere on the Market site? If not, has anyone written a screen-scraping utility (or equivalent) that can harvest the data into a spreadsheet?
View 18 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else experiencing problems? I'm on a HTC Desire running 2.2 stock Froyo. The only modification I've made is to manually force apps to the SD card. Since Market 2.12 was released I can download but not install anything. I can't update either, it'll download but then immediately bring up an Installation Failed notification.
I have been advised to clear the Market cache and to uninstall the new update but by the time I reload the Market after uninstalling the update, I'm back on 2.12 as it updates automatically.
Has anyone else experiencing similar problems?
Any idea if there's a fix or do I have to wait for Google to sort it out?
Is there anywhere I can report this to Google?
So over the past few days the apps ive tried to download dont even start to download, I then turn my phone off and back on again and they start to download, then start to install, but just as i think its done i get a notification saying ''Installation unsuccessful''.
I have 14MB of phone memory left so ive constantly got the low on space icon in the notification bar but i have ample space for the certain apps i wish to download. Have i without realising fiddled with a certain setting or something?
I recently Upgraded my captivate to 2.2. all paid apps seemed to work and download just fine, And all the free apps i had i re downloaded without any problems. but when i went to download Reckless Racing again it will not let me install it.It downloads fine, And when it tries to download it. it gives me an error saying installation unsuccessful.I tried all the fixes relating to that problem like clearing cache on the market app via. settings > applications >
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have one app (Astro File Manager) that is stuck in my downloads in the Market. I uninstalled the app, and it stays there. If I click on it, it takes me to the page for AFM, and if I click on cancel download, it force closes my market. I had about 6 apps doing the same thing, but when I clicked on them and canceled the download, and re updated, they all worked fine. Astro is the only one giving my problems. Any ideas on how to stop it and just redownload?

I need to know when the webview finishes loading a page that has a random number of redirects (sometimes to the same page, and the order of the redirects also change), so I can remove the Splash Screen only when there is a fully loaded page. On the webviewclient the onPageStarted and onPageFinished functions are called once per each redirect, as is the onNewPicture (even though the screen is always blank during the redirects). So I can't be sure when it's called the last time (page actually loaded). I also tried using the onLoadResource to count the number of resources loaded (dangerous and unreliable approach, but I am getting desperate here), but this also failed, since after the page is cached, it is called only one or two times. That is one big puzzle I am unable to solve using what I know so far, can anyone please help me?

I even uninstalled the offending app and it is still hung up on "installing" in the market...won't let me stop...won't let me cancel. When I go into my running applications, 8 out of 10 times it is running. I shut it down, and it keeps popping back up. How can I stop it from running on its own? I only want it to run if I manually click on it. Went into application settings and can find nothing to toggle it off with. What I want is for the response (an InputStream in this case) to be handled by a custom handler that can be switched (like a strategy pattern) but I can't figure out how to do this. So basically the User of the API would be able to plug in different handlers for the response, some would parse XML, others might save files etc. I realise I could pass through the activity context and execute the method from this (given some interface) but I don't want to do this obviously, in case the Activity is closed in the meantime while the file is still downloaded.
UPDATE - I just had one idea it will work sort of but has problem if the DownloadRunnable gets changed between executions of the downloads.

I'm having a problem with unlocking my phone. Some of my friends tried to unlock the pattern but after 20 failures the phone blocked. Now I have to submit my google login so I can get back on it. The problem with that was that I was on vacation abroad so my 3G and wifi were both turned off. I've read about other problems like this and came to a point where I was trying to turn on my wifi with adb. I found that I could use the command "svc wifi enable" and I tried this several times, every time with the same result: I think the command starts but then gets killed before it finishes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently there was an updated version of Android Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich, the free one from Market. But I was unable to install it as it always prompt me "Insufficient Memory". I've more than 100MB free internal memory (using App2sd) and over 5GB free on my SDcard. But it just refuse to let me install. So I tried downloading the apk too and install it using a root manager, but the installation also failed.
So I decided to give up on the app and remove the app. But yet Market still prompts me for an update (and my phone refuse to let me install it). I done a search on "jack" using my root manager to delete all files related with the app and even clear up all apps cache... but still Market prompts me!
What should I do to either:
1. Get this app to install successfully
or
2. Remove this app "cleanly"
or
3. Stop Market from showing me an "Update" for this app when it's already not in my phone?

I've got an Android activity which grabs an RSS feed from a URL, and uses the SAX parser to stick each item from the XML into an array. This all works fine but, as expected, takes a bit of time, so I want to use AsyncActivity to do it in the background. The line items = parser.getItems() works fine - items being the arraylist containing each item from the XML. The problem I'm facing is that on starting the activity, the ProgressDialog which i create in onPreExecute() isn't displayed until after the doInBackground() method has finished. i.e. I get a black screen, a long pause, then a completely populated list with the items in. Why is this happening? Why isn't the UI drawing, the ProgressDialog showing, the parser getting the items and incrementally adding them to the list, then the ProgressDialog dismissing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSearching around I've found loads of people have the same issue. Suddenly you'll loose access to gmail (unable to load, retry?), market place and sync just shows errors. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FACTORY RESET. Now I've found you can resolve easily by deleting the com.android.providers.settings older entirely via root, then rebooting. at shell type: rm -r /data/data/com.android.providers.settings. THEN REBOOT. You'll loose some settings, ringtones, notifications, screen brightness, but these are easily reset. If when you sync you get a ! you may also have to, or like to, clear the data under settings>apps> for gmail, gmailstorage, contacts,contactstorage, calender, calendarstorage - DO A SYNC FIRST AND CHECK IN YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT ON A PC AS YOU'LL LOOSE ANYTHING NOT SYNC'D. But why do so many devices suddenly bork requiring this? Does anyone know?

But now I've picked up a copy of the Appbrain fast web installer, and it does exactly this.
How on earth is this possible?
