Android :: Frameworks Similar To Firefox - JQuery - Templates And Data Linking On IPhone
Nov 17, 2010We have a great software foundation based on Microsoft MVC 2, Entity Framework 4, Repositories, POCOs, Service and Control layers, C# Views, JQuery and html. Firefox pulls 100 records in 250 ms, drops it in to a template, links the data to the markup, and we sit back and drink margaritas.
Boss walks in and says he wants an iPhone app. I bet we need an Android app too.
What frameworks could we use to easily jump from our Microsoft comfort zone in to the wide, wide world of the Apple iPhone / iPad, along with a follow-up Android baby.
I imagine we could use our JSON controller methods to communicate. Is there some type of a client side JavaScript consuming app framework we could get a reasonable Website like interface re-working? They didn't like the idea of simply running the whole thing in Safari, which works pretty well.
Needs:
Send and receive JSON objects
Some type of template engine so we can pair up objects to markup, or at least some way to separate design from programming
Something similar to JQuery would be nice
A good editor with auto-complete and highlighting, something that compares to VS2010
It took us two years to incorporate design patterns, Agile methods, and Domain Driven concepts using MVC and Javascript. We may have two or three months to re-produce the same functions.
Android :: Camera Zoom Feature With Wheel Or Slider
Jun 25, 2009Anyone tried this yet? Not quite there on features yet, but regular updates and I can see this being a big player. Loving the skins and animations. Zoom wheel is pretty cool too or you can use a slider if you prefer. Was playing around with some of the new skin packs - one of them is kind of scary!

Motorola Droid :: Loose Slider - MILD Shake And Slider Completely Opens?
Nov 12, 2009My phone is opening in my jacket pocket. Anyone else have this problem? I can hold the back and give the phone a MILD shake and the slider completely opens. Also if I push on the Magnifying Glass while the phone is closed, the phone has quite a bit of downward travel, but the other three corners dont...this happening to anyone else?

However, the iPhone integrated well with my car radio, which has a USB port. The radio can play from USB, but then I have to navigate my folders from the radio. It's difficult, unintuitive, and less functional than playing music directly from the phone.
Is there an app that would fake out a connected device to make it think the Droid was an iPhone, and would let me use the Droid's music player interface to play music through the USB?

Suppose we have 2 activities with their respective xml files: Splash Activity ->splash.xml Menu activity ->menu.xml Now how we can flip between these 2 activities? That is from splash to menu and vice versa.

Maybe base it off of when the screen rotates + keyboard lights up? I would love to apply 2 seperate notifications. One for open and one for close. I know there is a notification for when you unplug the power, but I'd love to have 2 seperate from that for JUST the slider. this works without a glitch in every browser on all non mobile platforms. However... when this is implemented on iPhone (Safari) or Android (webkit) the div gets filled up with the text but no scrollbar is generated when the text runs past the height of the div and the user can't "push" the content down either. So effectively overflow is always "hidden" no matter what. I'm curious if there's some alternative approach that I'm overlooking or if this is just a bug I have no way to get around at the moment.

May 26, 2010Just wanted to say hello! I'm making the move from an iPhone 3GS to a Desire, and found this forum while googling!
I'm due to receive my Desire on Friday, and franky I cant wait. I love my iPhone, and its given me a great year, but I got fed up of the lack of user control. I jailbroke it, but thats a pain as you're frequently chasing updates etc. So Im taking the plunge and moving to Android ( much to the disgust of a couple of my Apple loving friends!).
I still think the iPhones an amazing piece of kit, but its just not for me anymore. So its just a long 2 day wait now!

Nov 24, 2013My website uses jQuery and the it's main feature uses a loop. On the desktop, all 3 browsers (GC, FF, IE11) executes the loop approx. 1,100 times a minute. On Windows Phone, it does 1,000 times a minute, a bit slower. But on Android in particular, it only gets about 500, and the UI updating is slow. I don't know about iPhone.why my jQuery is running much slower on Android then the rest of the platforms I've tested?

For my market the only people with slow bandwidth are those using mobile Internet on a smartphone.
What's the best approach for detecting these users so i can avoid image preloading for them?
option 1 : detect browser width

option 2: detect user-agent with a list of browser to preload for

Sep 24, 2010Maybe it's just me but using the slider everytime you use your phone seems rediculous. I downloaded an app that allows you to disable the lock so now when I press the home button my screen pops up and is ready to use. Once the screen goes to black it is basically locked until you press the home key again. Granted I don't use any password protection and don't have sensitive data on my phone so why use the slider?

Aug 6, 2010About 25% of the time my phone will ring and I go to swipe the lock to answer the call and I get no response from the slider. If and when it does decide to slide the call has already gone to voicemail. And if I turn the slide screen off in settings and the phone rings, tapping the "answer call" button does nothing (again, not all of the time).
I just tried to duplicate it calling my DX from my workphone and it slides fine and answers the call. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the slider to not slide some of the time? Other than with answering the phone I've had no problems with the touch-screen.

Feb 5, 2010So I noticed some (protective) plastic on the back of the sliding screen today. I gave it a little flick to see if it was meant to stay, but it peeled right off. Seems to be part of the plastic films put on before shipping. Can't believe I haven't seen this in over 2 months (of course I rarely slide it open).Sliding mechanism is much smoother now and certainly not loose.It has also opened up a whole new Droid Feature: It is so shiny and reflective on the back of the slider now, if you get lost in the woods and are out of cel reception, you can use the back of the slider to reflect the sun and signal the rescue plane while still playing your favorite game to pass the time Droid does Survival tool!

Jul 26, 2010I have a Droid and it has worked perfect answering calls, until now. I just installed LauncherPro and now when I receive incoming calls I can no longer slide and answer calls. No matter what I do, the screen will do nothing other than show incoming calls and the slider, but the slider will not slide.
Is there anyway to answer phone calls (other than auto answer) without using the slider?
