Android : Need Best Phone Tracking / Security / Lost Phone App
Jan 27, 2010After thinking I lost my phone yesterday, I decided I outta install one of these apps on my Eris. I've come across WaveSecure, Mobile Defense, and MobiWee (although this last one doesn't seem to be geared towards security really). Which one have y'all found is the best? What do you prefer?

Nov 9, 2010I recently lost my phone, and had an app on it that texted me the location. Unfortunately I was overseas and didn't get the phone back, but it was a good little app - but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it or find it in the market.
The exact fucntionality was that when a different sim card is put in the phone, it preiodically sends you 3 texts with the location of the phone by cell tower, GPS and another (WPS I think?) format. So you get a rough location and also the phone number of the person with the phone. Handy...
Anyone got an idea of what this app was called? It's not Wavesecure, Lookout (which totally failed to locate the phone or restore the backups - rubbish), Where's My Droid...
As I say, done an extensive web and market search and can't find it anywhere..
HTC Eris :: No Connectivity 3G Lost / Phone With Android 1.5
Aug 4, 2010Anyone else lost 3G? My phone is fine cause I haven't flashed a ROM in a few days. But I Rooted a friend of mines yesterday and flashed Suave Smush. Everything was fine until he called me this morning and said he had lost 3G. A little later it would not send or receive a text message. Then it kept saying he was out of his home network. We wipped it clean and did the Nand Restore and its fine now. His phone still has Android 1.5.

May 4, 2010My phone (htc desire) loses connection with HTC Sync, version: 2.0.33 on my laptop when I start eclipse galileo. I have windows 7 32 bit. The followings are what I have done to solve this problem but with no luck:
- Unplug and replug the USB cable.
- Installed the old version of HTC sync
- Uninstalled the old version and installed the newest version of HTC sync.
I've to log off or restart my laptop to be able to connect the phone with htc sync again but when I start eclipse the connection is lost again.

Android :: Lost Phone - Doesnt Have An Unlock Pin So Theres Nothing Stopping Access To Phones Data
Nov 9, 2010I lost my phone and it doesnt have an unlock pin so theres nothing stopping access to my phones data....
Its an HTC Magic and syncs to my google calendar. I've reset my messenger password so im guessing altho they get into my ebuddy app automatically, the messenger password on the phone will be out of sync and wrong? I've chosen "log out of everywhere" from Windows Live. I've rest my Evernote password. I dont have any apps that can help me find phone or send an erase message to the phone.
So all thats left I guess is my Google calendar. I suppose its not a train smash having my Calendar data on the phone, but I'd like to erase it. If I go to Google Calendar and delete all the appointments will that delete the appointments if my lost phone syncs, and i think ive set it to sync every time the calendar app is run? Also, with contacts, i seem to remember those not syncing very often, only when i went into settings and contacts on the htc, so im not sure of how to get rid of all the contacts on my phone even if I delete them all from my Google Account.

Nov 17, 2009I totally love the droid. but there is one thing that has been bothering me. It synced all my goggle contacts to my phone, and but then deleted them all from g mail. luckily I had all my contacts backed up on my computer and entered them in. Once I did that all my contacts from my phone got deleted. Every contact (other than face book and g mail contacts) that I had in my phone is now gone. What do I do?!

Oct 12, 2010I lost my Desire - gutted, but it's insured so hopefully I'll have a replacement soon. Anyway, I want to know if there's a way to get back the apps that I had installed on it - will the marketplace recognise it's me and offer me all the ones I had installed, or do I just have to remember which ones I installed (paid and free) and go and find them again? If so, is there a list recorded anywhere in my google account? In hindsight, a kinda nice thing about the apple app store is that you get a receipt for everything you install, so that's kind of useful.

Jul 15, 2010My question is when you root the Eris is anything lost such as data on the phone that will have to be re-installed? Or is does it wipe the phone? I would prefer not to have to re-install but I will if it is necessary. Also will I be able to receive any further OTA updates? I know that the one scheduled for tomorrow is most likely the last that this phone will see but just in case I want all of my bases covered. I would also like to take advantage of possibly putting 2.2 on it if there is not an official release so I can take advantage of the awesome features that 2.2 offers. I really don't care about loosing SenseUi because I use Launcher Pro and love it and prefer not to switch back to SenseUi. One more thing. I really want to take out certain apps that came with the phone that are only a nuisance to me such as amazonmp3, Stocks, Tweet & google talk. And of course take advantage of the apps that are available only to rooted phones.

May 19, 2010Ok sitting at home, getting ready to go to bed, friend sends me a MMS. So I go to download and I noticed that I have no 3G connection, not even 1x, So I try to download it and it tells me that there is Generic Network Failure. Now I can't make any calls or do anything. It was working fine until i got the MMS. I have tried changing the size to download and just about every setting. I can't figure it out. I love this phone, but now it is starting to make me mad!

Jul 21, 2010when my Talk was going off line and saying "Lost connection to sever. Messages will be sent when online." This happened anytime the phone was idle for more than a couple minutes. I changed the seetings in Talk to automatically sign in, and uncheck the option to set status to away when the sceen is turned off. This did not help, so I made sure my data-always-on setting was on, and it is. Sometimes it would not even tell me it was offline until I tried to send a message, then it would give me that error. Other times, all my friends will be greyed out for a couple seconds until it reconnects to the server.
This is an Evo I got replaced by RadioShack on Friday, 7/16, since I was having sceen issues with my first one. I never had any issues with my orginal phone. Yesterday, I was noticing a lot of my Gmail messages were coming in in groups, and normally when I was using the phone. Today, I sent an email to both my gmail account and myemail@mydomain.net email which is managed by Google, and neither of those emails were recieved until I turned my sceen on and started doing things on it. I have also noticed that if I turn my sceen off, background downloads pretty much come to a halt. Like I said, I have my data to always be on, so this is not the issue. I am using mainly 3G for data. I have done about 5 hard resets, and tried my Talk client before installing any apps or setting up my second Gmail account, and this didnt help the issue either..........
HTC EVO 4G :: Lost Sound On Phone - Volume On High - Nothing Works

No ringers, no audio in videos, no touch tones, nothing. All the ringers are turned up, it's NOT on silent mode.
I can however talk on the phone, the ear piece works. Mic works too.

I've got it checked under Settings -> Sound & Display -> Audible touch tones (on or off) but they won't beep no matter how many times I swaer at them.
The only app I've installed at about the time they went walkabout was Batterylife, although I doubt it was connected and it's been binned but to no avail.

IMHO thiefs definitely wipe phone after stealing it making all recovery apps useless.
Motorola Droid :: Lost Call Log And Ringers (Phone Data)
Feb 25, 2010I went to check my call log this morning and noticed it was completely empty. Not too big of a deal but still somewhat of a hassle. Then as I started getting calls throughout the day, I noticed that all of my contacts had their ringers reset to the default ringer instead of their custom one. I haven't seen or heard of this problem anywhere else. I know people have had their messages completely wiped but this seems to be only Phone data.
