Android :: Binding Data From Database To Checkbox In ListView?

Oct 1, 2009

I'm trying to bind data from my SQLiteDatabase to a ListView. I'm currently using a SimpleCursorAdapter to fill in my ListView. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with setting a CheckBox's checked attribute. This is how I do it now; instead of changing the CheckBox's checked status the adapter is filling in the value to the text argument, so the value is displayed right of the CheckBox as text.

Java:
setListAdapter( new SimpleCursorAdapter( this, R.layout.mylist, data,
new String[] { Datenbank.DB_STATE, Datenbank.DB_NAME }, new int[] { R.id.list_checkbox, R.id.list_text } ) );

mylist.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout01"
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" >
<CheckBox android:text="" android:id="@+id/list_checkbox"
android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:checked="false" > </CheckBox>
<TextView android:text="" android:id="@+id/list_text" android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" > </TextView> </LinearLayout>

The field in the database is of course of type boolean and I've also tried to assign an id to the checked field to fill the value in.

Android :: SQLiteOpenHelper Existing Database?

Jun 9, 2010

I have an existing SQLite database file from another project.

Where do I include the database file into my Eclipse project to have it deploy with the app.

Do I need to indicate that the database file is writable? (In the iPhone world you need to copy the database file from the app's bundle to a writable folder on the iPhone proper before first use.)

Once I have the database file on the phone, how do I tell SQLiteOpenHelper to use it? (I extend SQLiteOpenHelper in a custom class.

Android :: Possible To Write Custom Content Provider For Existing System Database?

Dec 9, 2009

Not sure of the absolute utility of this but seems as though it should be possible and useful. Can you extend ContentProvider to provide URIs representing new queries (i.e., joins across multiple tables not specified by existing URIs) for an existing system database? The alternative seems to be that I need to write a series of cursor queries then join them -- seems like a lot of unnecessary code duplication.

I have been trying this for the contacts database as an exercise, but no love so far. The crux seems to be that I cannot open a database in another package during the setup phase. Am I just completely out in left field here? It's possible as I am new to both Java and Android.

How To Put Mysql Data In Array

Sep 4, 2012

I wanted to fetch the title of an image which is saved in a mysql Db, I found out that you have to do this through Json, right now I am having a .php file:

PHP Code:

<?php
mysql_connect("localhost","xx","xx");
mysql_select_db("xx");
$q=mysql_query("SELECT title FROM field_title");

[Code]...

It outputs as follows:

Code:

[{"title":"titleone"},{"title":"titletwo"},{"title":"titlethree"}]

But now I am stuck, I want to put these titles in a simple arraylist but i don't know how to make the connection between the outputted data and the arraylist itself.

Code:

ArrayList<String> list = new ArrayList<String>();
for (??) {
list.add(string);
}

Is it possible to do this on an easy way?
