As we know, Google has hidden some APIs on newer SDKs, some of providers (i.e. Telephony provider) are hidden, we can only seen in source code, but we cannot use on the current SDK. So I wonder how we can use these providers. I know we integrate our own firmware, however, I wonder if we can solver this problem on the current SDK, so that my app can run on all public android system.

So I made a folder on astro and I put some pictures in it and then I made it hidden and now my music and pictures are hidden . How do I fix this with out making the pictures unhidden.

In the notepad example and others, the content provider never even declares its CONTENT_URI anywhere inside itself, yet the docs say to publicly declare this. It's declared in a different class. So when an activity queries a content provider with a CONTENT_URI, how does Android know which one I want. I see no link between a content provider and its CONTENT_URI declared in another class.
I also don't how to think about intents and content providers. I know that you don't call an intent on a content provider. But an activity queries a content provider without an intent, and an activity has a mimetype attribute in the manifest that would seem to tie it to a content provider.
how can i create a custom content provider like contact content provider? i know how to create custom content providers but i want to integarte to device such a way that it canbe accessed by all application installed in that device.

Actually there are quite a few so I don't feel like going through and checking all the version numbers of whats installed. Is there an easier way to tell if the version on my sd card is newer than what's already installed, or do I need to go through and check all my version numbers?

A friend of mine rooted my samsung mobile Galaxy S I9000 with a android 2.2 version. I read information on rooting your device, in which everything is explained very well, but could not find information on how to update once a device was rooted (probably I did not search in the right place). What I did so far is:
1) Taking backup of my pics (by manually drag and drop the folder on my pc), SMS and call logs (with sms backup + app), syncronized my contacts with gmail so that I can recover them later on and backup the music folder. I installed backup Titanium to back up my apps on my SD card.
1) Which most recent version of Android is supported on the device I have?
2) Is there important information that I forgot to back up?
3) Is there a guide with step by step procedure on which files I have to download on my pc and which procedure to follow?
I'm exchanging my EVO because the light leakage has gotten worse, but want i want to know is, i keep hearing about the newer EVOs have worse LCD screen quality, can anyone confirm this, because I would rather deal with the light leakage on my current EVO so i can have the better quality LCD screen

Through trial and error I can get to a "recovery" prompt but that has "wipe" functions and I don't want to wipe my data. Is there an other option or just keep rebooting until it works? I read that you can hold the volume + button, but that brings up a factory testing menu on this clone phone.
The phone is a HTC clone from China (Hero 300 listed on box). I have a 2GB card I'm using with it. It appears to be "rooted" because there is the superuser icon.

it's possible to get a newer version of bluetooth into the leaked froyo rom... the one that is currently in the leaked rom doesn't work with wiimote.

I have seen many, many Moto Droid commercials that the "DROID" sound makes me look at my phone all the time. View 7 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that versions after Skype v4.0 have been having this issue where, when minimized or screen turned off, the app essentially disconnects. I've been doing testing with another account on the pc which I would use to write to my Skype on the phone. Works fine until I leave the app itself. It is still running, I've made 100% sure of that. When writing myself it first shows me as online but quickly updates to "offline" and message is "pending", i.e. not delivered before I open the app again.
How about battery life comparison between the older and newer versions? It's the main reason I wanna use the newer versions because allegedly the battery has been improved alot since 4,7 but sadly, in these versions, I have this problem.
I was trying deodexing manually and ran into big problems, now in bootloop. I want to just custom recovery restore to the deodexed ROM here (Droid X 2.2 Froyo Deodexed and Ready For Themes) but cannot because I get the following error every time I try to restore a backup from custom recovery: "e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 device or resource busy.I think I found out that it is because this Koush recovery is the original 2.1 version, so I need the 2.2 one.Two things:-Where do I get this 2.2 newer version? View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to Android and have gone through the basic tutorials. I thought I'd dig a little deeper and downloaded the source code to some of the "native" Android apps, like IM, Email, Voice Dialer, etc.
In importing the source of these native apps into Eclipse, I found that they reference classes that are not in the 2.1 API, i.e. classes such as android.content.Entity, android.net.http.DomainNameChecker, etc. As a result, I can't compile and play with this code.
So is there is a "hidden" API that the native apps use that is not available to the regular app developers? Is there a "native" SDK I can use to import these classes?
I am trying to display some ImageView and TextView in a TableLayout. However, for the TextView (in the second column), it is partially hidden and does not go to the next line.

I'm placing the file '.nomedia' into a folder in order to avoid Android's MediaScanner from detecting the media files in the folder. I need to copy this folder (including '.nomedia') from the APK's assets to the SD card (so other apps can make use of these media files, etc.). When I package the APK in Eclipse, it doesn't package the '.nomedia' file. Presumably it's detecting it as a hidden file. Any ideas how to fix this? Is there a secret aapt flag I can use? I'd like to avoid copying the folder and then manually creating a '.nomedia' folder, if possible.

The problem is that after the menu has disappeared the links are still there. They are not shown but are clickable and the green border appears. And after some seconds they disappear. I've tryied many ways of hiding the menu: display: none, visibility: hidden, width: 0, height: 0, jquery hide, jquery fadeout... but none worked. Also hidding the links.
