I got a few apps on my sd card that may or may not be newer than the ones I already have installed. Actually there are quite a few so I don't feel like going through and checking all the version numbers of whats installed. Is there an easier way to tell if the version on my sd card is newer than what's already installed, or do I need to go through and check all my version numbers?

Through trial and error I can get to a "recovery" prompt but that has "wipe" functions and I don't want to wipe my data. Is there an other option or just keep rebooting until it works? I read that you can hold the volume + button, but that brings up a factory testing menu on this clone phone.
The phone is a HTC clone from China (Hero 300 listed on box). I have a 2GB card I'm using with it. It appears to be "rooted" because there is the superuser icon.
A friend of mine rooted my samsung mobile Galaxy S I9000 with a android 2.2 version. I read information on rooting your device, in which everything is explained very well, but could not find information on how to update once a device was rooted (probably I did not search in the right place). What I did so far is:
1) Taking backup of my pics (by manually drag and drop the folder on my pc), SMS and call logs (with sms backup + app), syncronized my contacts with gmail so that I can recover them later on and backup the music folder. I installed backup Titanium to back up my apps on my SD card.
1) Which most recent version of Android is supported on the device I have?
2) Is there important information that I forgot to back up?
3) Is there a guide with step by step procedure on which files I have to download on my pc and which procedure to follow?
it's possible to get a newer version of bluetooth into the leaked froyo rom... the one that is currently in the leaked rom doesn't work with wiimote.

I want to just custom recovery restore to the deodexed ROM here (Droid X 2.2 Froyo Deodexed and Ready For Themes) but cannot because I get the following error every time I try to restore a backup from custom recovery: "e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 device or resource busy.I think I found out that it is because this Koush recovery is the original 2.1 version, so I need the 2.2 one.Two things:-Where do I get this 2.2 newer version? Last week I got and update alert for Google Maps. I tried to install it and got a "Install error" "Package file not signed correctly".
What's strange about it is, I already had the version it wanted me to install. Version 3.1.2. It also doesn't show up in aTrackdog but does show in apps drawer and works fine. The market shows that I don't have it installed. All other Google apps are working and show where they should. This started before the C&D order.
I have a new htc desire (unlocked) with Android 2.2 Probably a stupid question, but how can I tell what Flash version is installed? Does Flash appear as an app? I can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere on the phone. Whenever I try to play a Flash movie, it tells me it isn't installed and go to the Adobe site. On the Adobe site, I can't seem to work out how to download and install Flash 10.1 on my phone!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that versions after Skype v4.0 have been having this issue where, when minimized or screen turned off, the app essentially disconnects. I've been doing testing with another account on the pc which I would use to write to my Skype on the phone. Works fine until I leave the app itself. It is still running, I've made 100% sure of that. When writing myself it first shows me as online but quickly updates to "offline" and message is "pending", i.e. not delivered before I open the app again.
How about battery life comparison between the older and newer versions? It's the main reason I wanna use the newer versions because allegedly the battery has been improved alot since 4,7 but sadly, in these versions, I have this problem.
I used to be a C/C++ programmer before getting in to android. I am not sure how people maintain 2 versions of a program without using #ifdef preprocessor macros. Right now I am changing the package name in eclipse and changing the code manually, but this seems really inefficient. Can anybody suggest a good way of having 2 or more projects that share most of the code?
