I want to provide option to users...for Connection mode with web server for services(XML).. How can i set the connection to use Wi-Fi or Direct or MDS or WAP connection mode.. Is there any way to set the connection to use SSL?

I've got a Galaxy S Vibrant. I've got the USB in debugging mode, I've got super-user rights. When I mount the Vibrant to my Desktop while it's booted in Ubuntu, it detects it off the bat and works fine. When I mount the Vibrant to my Dekstop while it's booted in Windows, it doesn't detect it.
Vibrant won't connect to a windows 7 x32 desktop via usb, but connects to Ubuntu just fine. The desktop has no network connection. I need to move some files, but I don't have a USB drive and it doesn't have a CD drive. It's rather barebones. So, I was hoping to use my phone.
Is it possible for odin to setup connection without download mode ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI connect to wifi at home. however, when the phone goes into screen safe mode, the wifi icon is not there. only after i swipe the phone to get back to the menu, then i see the wifi icon.
does it mean wifi is disabled when the phone is in screen safe mode? it appears i do not always get notification for new text when the mode is in screen safe mode. it's sporadic.
I am new to smartphones and thought that this might be good for others who are new and don't have the unlimited data plan grandfathered in to know.

By default the wi-fi setting is set to go to sleep (and use cellular data instead) when the screen is off, which will most likely happen while you are streaming music as well as other things. To change it so the wi-fi never turns off, to into the phone's menu -> wireless and network -> wi-fi settings -> tap the menu button and select advanced which has an option for wi-fi sleep policy that had been defaulted to sleep "when screen turns off". There you have the option to change it to "never" or "never when plugged in".

Now lets say on of this threads is downloading a large file, but then the user of my application is switching to another activity/screen. Therefor the file is needless and I'd like to abort this download connection.
In ThreadSafeClientConnManager I found this method: public ClientConnectionRequest requestConnection (HttpRoute route, Object state) Returns a new ClientConnectionRequest, from which a ManagedClientConnection can be obtained or the request can be aborted.
So far I've been using:

httpclient.getConnectionManager().requestConnection(HttpRoute route, Object state);
And that's the point where I'm stuck. I assume that for the route I can just use new HttpRoute(new HttpHost("10.0.0.1")) or whatever my server is, but what to put in for Object state?
And second, as soon as I've the ClientConnectionManager I can call getConnection(long timeout, TimeUnit tunit). But then from there, how I do I execute my HttpGet httpRequest = new HttpGet(URL_TO_FILE); as I did before with HttpResponse response = (HttpResponse) httpclient.execute(httpRequest);?

How do I detect there is no internet connection?
How do I popup a same dialog in my application?
I'm coding a very basic FTP client on top of my application and I have 2 activities. The first one is the file explorer and the second one is the image viewer. Once I click on the image filename on the explorer, I want to pass the connection to the other activity to handle extra stuff. Basically, I want to keep the same org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient object (which handles the connection) alive in-between the 2 activities. I know I can't pass an object inside an intent so I don't know what my best bets are.

What happens (on my sgs2) is that the video records just fine in whatever resolution I pick... but it records it 90 degrees rotated to the right.
The solution that is usually offered is that "you can rotate it after!" yes... but then you have to CROP part of the image and lower the resolution. 1920 x 1080 recordings end up having to be cropped so that half of the view is cut out , or even more if you are maintaining a real aspect ratio.
The questions about "why not just hold it sideways", are just as pointless as the statement by steve jobs telling iphone4 users that they were holding their phones wrong.
is this something that can be remedied ? or has google decided that people should only record videos when their phones are in landscape mode?
i understand that we cant see landscape resolution in portrait mode; but can't we just have a viewport into the camera, but record in properly oriented landscape mode? so that playback on a computer will show the full resolution, even though we will only see part of it on the phone..
dialer in kitkat is always in landscape mode when call is ongoing....how can we set it in portrait mode

Auto-rotation for keyboard when answering a text message received in sleep mode does not work. If I actively send a text when phone is already awake, keyboard rotates with no problem but when I go to reply to a text that I received while phone is in sleep mode, the keyboard does not rotate. Is this the norm?I am also experiencing a delay when the I wake the phone. After unlocking the phone, I used to go straight to my home page, now I get a "loading" message which takes several seconds. So first of all I'ved Tested the Code by connecting to a wesite and everything was Ok, I could confirm the connection was made through the HttpURLConnection ResponseCode()=200 (equals to HTTP_OK) ...So my Code could access the INTERNET. But then i created a Lan Network with the Device mentionned above I couldn't have any Connection to it...neither to other devices (Pc attached to the Network)
My App gets no response...the main Screen switches to a Black untitled Screen...Is there a Permission i have to request through the MANIFEST.XML File for Lan Networks as there is a one for INTERNET?...

Basically I am trying to create a suite of tools for live analysis of an android phone. I know how to get the information I need on the phone, but I was wondering if there was a way to communicate that information back to the PC? I want to be able to run a program from a PC, which, when the phone is docked, will allow the user to access information about the phone (ie currently running services/processes, bluetooth/wifi connections, etc). I have a bunch of methods that will run on the phone and get all the information, but I want to be able to call those methods from the PC, execute on the phone, then have the information sent back to the PC to display to the user instead of just displaying it on the phone. This is to leave as small a footprint on the phone as possible.

A bit like the battery stats that says which application has been using the battery but for data connection if you see what I mean.
