My data connection goes into idle mode if I don't use it and stops downloads... How can I prevent it?? K-Touch E619
T-Mobile myTouch 3G

I have an unlimited data plan through T-Mobile. I am using my phone in the United States, West Coast. The issue I am having is when I am using the Tethering for root user and I receive or send a call, my connection seems to pause. This also causes web pages to not load and the 3G or E icon goes away from the Status bar at the top of the screen. Does anyone know of a way for me to have the data connection continue when a cell call comes in?

I am currently searching to set out an issue I encounter. I am developing an Application on Android which have to download a lot of data and then be unused for a while.
During the download, the device is locked and switch to a kind of idle mode that close the wifi connection. I don't find out anything about it so I need your precious help.
I would want to programmatically disable this idle mode. Is it possible, what sould I do for it?
Luckily I have the "NetCounter" network traffic counter installed, so I monitor my data usage over the 3g/2g network. Recently I've discovered my usage have increased massively. According to the month graph I've jumped from average 8 MB/day to approx 40 MB/day and my habbits haven't changed! This morning when I woke up, and my phone has been idle all night, it had already used 7MB since midnight - without me using it. What kind of a background app/service downloads that much data? According to my netcounter it is almost 99% download and 1% upload.I have a 1gb/month dataplan which should be enough, but something is appearently abusing my Connection , and with 410MB used this month so far, it can't last all month this way.I can see which date more or less the cell usage have increased, but I honestly can't recall which programs I have installed around that point! So before I try randomly uninstalling programs, I would like to hear if there is any way I can see how the network usage is distributed between the apps, so I can find the sinners?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe only reason I'm starting this thread because I haven't seen this issue on a Milestone thread, and no other threads seem to have an actual 100% solution for this...Most of the times I'm walking around with my Milestone, the music pops or the player pauses completely. I've tried different options (carrying it around inside my bag and not my pocket, for example), different WORKING headsets (including the Motorola ones) and even different players, but nothing solves the problem completly. I just want to make sure there are other options beside having to take it to maintenance (it's still under warranty).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to log the phone's cell movement. So I created a PhoneStateListener that is being called when the CellLocation has been changed. Then it informs a logging service to write that new cell information to a log file.
This works as long as the screen is on. But when the screen goes off, the logging stops.
I have two classes:
The PhoneStateListener gets loaded on boot time public class CellStateListener extends PhoneStateListener { public void onCellLocationChanged(CellLocation location) {...this is the logging service which is informed when the cell location changes listener.onCellChanged(mcc, mnc, lac, cid); ... }
I have a listview. Whenever I strike an item of listview the debugger gets opened instead of starting a new activity (i.e. what I want). Code...
P.S. all the xml files are correct.
What's the technical term for being able to have voice connection and data connection simultaneously? Like AT&T was promoting heavily for a while.Apparently, the new T-Mobile Vibrant has this capability. A friend got one and was accessing the web while talking to me, double jealous now.I have benn lusting after the Verizon version, Fascinate, and wondering if there is any chance it will as well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a good application for my droid that will use the GPS to get me around with a preloaded map database so that it doesn't rely on me having a data connection.
Edit: did some research, looks like osmand and mapdroyd are the best choices. Any user opinions on which is better and why?
I flashed a ROM called Custom Rom Ceberus V5 (S3 Edition) by Frang but the packet data connection does not appear in status bar when I touch it and I can't connect using packet data connection.is it the ROM's problem or there's something I need to do?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 XXLPQ.It's rooted and now has CM9 installed.Unfortunately for some bizarre reason I have no internet connection. I've installed a different modem and it hasn't fixed the issue. APN settings are correct (I've spoken to my network). Sometimes it works absolutely fine then after a few moments it just won't load anything and I get a 'No internet connection' warning. Apps won't work either due to no connection. However I do have a 'H' and sometimes '3G' next to the signal bars. WiFi is working fine. Have full signal.. I've started from scratch and wiped everything several times and re-flashed xxLPQ but still nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried a lot of apps for finding a lost phone - Lookout, Where's My Droid, AndroidLost, Prey etc.None of them have the feature to automatically on gps and data remotely [using sms]

i have this strange issue with my old Xperia X10 (about 3 years old, running 2.3.3). The phone runs fine, fully charged can last two days with normal usage (as always). I can play any games for hours before the battery goes dead. But as soon as I turn on data connection, both wifi or mobile network, it runs about 2 minutes and suddenly "turning off" window appears and the phone shuts down. When I start up the phone again, the battery is about 20-30% lower than before the shutdown (depends on the percentage, can drop to zero if charged at 50%) and shuts down again after couple seconds (i can barely type in the PIN code). But if I manage to turn the data connection off again in those few seconds, it doesn't shut down anymore and runs normally again. Weird thing is that in following hour after this incident, the battery slowly recharges itsself back to the original state (or little below it, just as it normally would). Here is the pic:
I guess its not faulty battery or anything, probably its software related but I can't imagine a sw that could drain the battery so fast (in seconds), almost like if it short-circuited the battery.
I have a Sprint HTC One. I recently flashed a new ROM. VENOM 5.0 which supports my PDA.
So, after installing it I downloaded all the required apps and they worked fine.
Later the next morning when I switched on my data connection, all the apps ran on data and everything went on well. Then I installed Root Firewall PRO and set all my required settings, after that none of the third party apps didn't receive any data connection. Neither Whatsapp nor Facebook Messenger received data. Even though they are only messaging apps, they also did not receive any Data Connection.
You can use the 3G network for surfing the Internet and at the same time the wifi network to move files only?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHave anyone notice yesterday anything strange in the downloads/active install data from your apps? My app lost more than 100 downloads(which should be impossible) from which most of them were active installs, so now my apps is 15 places down and my percentage of active installs badly affected. Has anyone else been affected?

My Galaxy pocket is loosing it's data connection and only reboot is working although the dual arrow marks with H exist on screen. The rom is original without any changes.

I do know that downloading on Wi-Fi is faster than using data (or so I've read). My question is if I start a download using data connection then turn Wi-Fi on will the download see the Wi-Fi and jump on that to speed up our do I have to start on Wi-Fi for it to use Wi-Fi?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using ICS Evervolv a5 on my N1. The mobile data connection works only if I don't connect to a WiFi network. If I do, the only way I have found to make it work again is to reboot the phone.
This means that while I am at home, everything works through WiFi, however, if I leave home, I have to reboot my phone once I am sure the phone is far enough from my WiFi access point to be able to connect. Then, it starts working with the cellular data plan
The only thing I can relate to this is that I have the "application protection" app installed, protecting the settings menu do with a code so my kids don't mess up with that. However, is still hard to believe that's the culprit.
everytime i installed a custom ROM preferrably CM7 Apocalypse, i always lost my data connection, i dont know why this thing happen, then last time i installed CM7 Apocalypse again (changelog dated 9/7/2012 by itasoulas) i still lost Data Connection though i follow the instructions given, plus i cant receive a message even though i installed a messaging app. im tired im reflashing my phone back to Stock Rom over and over again .

I've tried many of the most popular software that do this, but, with dual sim phone, they are able to shut down data connection but not to startup.
