Motorola Droid :: Regular And Dolphin Browser Are Linked
Feb 24, 2010I've been having a weird problem lately. Whenever I open a webpage in the normal browser and click on a link, it opens up dolphin browser and opens the page in there. Any idea why? I'd like to continue using the normal browser and dolphin just as a backup.

I've been using the chrome browser for it's download functions, but I can't seem to figure out the program in depth. There's some buttons that will flip between pages that are open, but I can't seem to figure out how to save bookmarks with it. Is there a text file or instructions on how to use this program?

Sep 16, 2010I'm using Xscope browser and picked the option to remember username/password on websites that I visit. However, my password has changed but it still tries to auto-populate the website fields with these values. Anyone know of a way to get it to stop so I can edit it with the new values?
When I contacted Xscope's developer, he mentioned that it wasn't any settings within the browser and that xScope doesn't store or manage it. The android webkit does. Anyone know what this means and where do I go to edit sites' field values the browser remembers?

Oct 16, 2010If I go to AndroidForums on my phone, and I long-press on the logo, I have the option to save it.However, if I go to a direct link like http://imgur.com/OLnXZ.jpg and it just loads the image, how do I save it now? I long-press on the image and it doesn't do anything. I am rooted and running a custom ROM, but I don't remember being able to do this on stock.

Nov 28, 2008There are a couple of options within the browser I didn't find until after searching for it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of the community in order to help out.
-Everyone should clear the browser cache and previous history in order to save internal phone memory. To do this go to BROWSER press the MENU button and press MORE. There should be a list of things in there but what you should be interested in is the last item which is SETTINGS. From there in privacy settings there will be options to clear both cache and history.
- Another little tip I wanted to share was viewing webpages in landscape mode without opening your keyboard. To do this simply press the MENU button from within the BROWSER and go down to FLIP ORIENTATION. You should realize tho by doing this you browser will continue to be in landscape the next time it's used. In order to return it to it's normal portrait mode just follow these steps once again.
-There are a number of other things you can mess around with or find with the MENU button within the browser so just take a look at it yourself even if you don't want to do any of these tips.

Jun 17, 2010Someone upgraded my app, and receive this message "The linked program is no longer installed on the phone" What did I do wrong to cause this? The app and the upgrade were signed with the same key as far as I know. Some of the builds were on a linux machine, and other were on Windows. Could that cause this message?

Jan 19, 2009For some unknown reason when I now try to create a new Android project in Eclipse (Ganymede running on Windows) it fails to link to the android.jar in the SDK (1.0_r1). This has never happened before, and all my existing projects continue to resolve Android components just fine.

Android :: Yahoo IM Client That Handles Linked Accounts?
Jun 19, 2010Does anyone know of a Yahoo IM client that handles linked (AKA Aliases) accounts? I have tried the following clients:
- Meebo
- Palringo
- IM +
- eBuddy
- Nimbuzz
- Hi Yahoo
- Yahoo Droid
They all have the same issue which is: I have linked yahoo accounts (a primary with other accounts linked). When I log into a yahoo account with the above clients and I receive an IM to a linked account, I receive the IM just fine, but when I respond to the IM, it will send from the primary (or logged in) account and NOT the account that IM was sent too. What SHOULD happen is the IM should be sent from the account that the IM was sent too just like the desktop app works.

May 3, 2010I have a text view (white text on black background) which is linkified. If at least one link is created and the user touches on any non-linked part of the text, then the non-linked part disappears (or turns black, I'm not sure).

Jul 3, 2010I lost a contact somehow and so created a new one with name only but no phone, email details. Then I linked the contact to that persons facebook profile, so now the contact diplays their details from facebook. Then I sync with gmail contacts and looking at their contact in gmail it shows some link metadata rather than the actuial phone numbers etc. This is the data:

Is there any way to have the phone copy the contact data it reads from facebook and store this in the phone in the person's contact record? This way it will track through to gmail contacts.

May 14, 2010I'm having a problem with the music app on the desire. Basically I've got about 2 hundred albums on there, all mp3 with artwork (jpg) embedded. Basically there are 6 albums where the artwork does not show up, it just displays the generic music note symbol, the rest of my music all displays the artwork no problem. After much experimenting, it turns out that if I change the name of one of the problem albums (to anything - I just added an extra character to the end of the name) then the artwork is displayed. But then if I change the album name back again, the artwork is not displayed. Wierd! I'm assuming that there is some sort of internal database on the phone that has got an incorrect or corrupt entry for those album names, but I just can't clear it. I have tried deleting the 'album thumbs' directory but this did not have any effect. Can anyone think of a way to clear the problem, without doing a factory reset, as I don't want to have to re-set up my apps etc.

None of my friends contact picture has changed on my phone, even though a lot of them have changed their profile picture on facebook. Is there a way to refresh this somehow? FB is set to sync every few hours, and I've manually done it and no dice.

Jun 8, 2010Been searching around for a while and found some posts with no replies on other forums for this annoying issue.I have my contacts linked manually with my Facebook friends list. Pictures are working and everything seems fine on that front.In the link screen I can hit the drop down to choose the contact name to display in the People widget, and I can choose between my phone contact name and the Facebook profile name.The problem is that if I choose the Facebook name (usually first and last, which I like, since in my phone I have some people in under nicknames, or just first name, etc.) it only temporarily remembers that change. Within a day or so I will open up People and the display name will be back to the original.
Example:
Contact in phone named John, linked to a facebook account called John Smith
In the Link screen I click the drop down for his name, and choose John Smith (which is labled as a facebook account) as the Contact Name The next day when I open People the contact is listed as simply John again.Anyone have any ideas?I don't want to go through my whole list retyping peoples names, especially when there is a feature that should make it a simple pick list.

Jul 19, 2010I've done a search and couldn't find any definitive answer and couldn't figure it out on my own.Is there a way to select which name you want to display for linked contacts? For example, I have a contact with 4 linked profiles (phone, google, facebook, twitter); It is displaying the twitter name and I'd rather it display the actual name (from any of the other linked profiles). When i go to edit this contact, the first name and last name is what i want it to display, yet it still display the twitter name.

All went well but when I tried to open the PHONE app y will NOT load. Nor the CONTACTS app. I tried to UNlink it and switch it back to system app but it wouldn't. I can't make any phone calls.

Feb 11, 2010I spent an hour linking all my mates to their facebook profiles partly so I could have pictures associated with them. However, I accidentally removed my facebook account which reset them all. As it had synced with Google already, I just resynced the links back to my phone, no problems.However, now all the photos have disappeared and short of unlinking and relinking anyone (which will take a long time...), is there a quicker way to refresh their photos?

However, I'd prefer to keep the name I already have for them on my phone. For example: Say I have "Jon" saved on my phone. His facebook profile name is Jon McJonjon. When I link the profiles, now his contact will read Jon McJonjon. I'd prefer to keep the name I previously had for him as his contact name. Any way to prioritize which profile you're linking is the main contact name that shows up under the contacts list?
