View 2 RepliesI have had my Hero for a few days. My prior phone was the Palm Pre. The pre was a great phone and when webos 1.40 came out, video recording was great. The downside of the phone is that it felt that I was holding an egg and the overall build was horrible. Not to mention that the screen would go funky if it was used for more than 5 minutes. I went with the Hero because I love HTC phones. I've heard so many great things about it. I have issues with taking pictures and recording videos with this phone. The picture quality is horrible and so is the video recording. I have only recorded one video...its of my 5 year old singing (25 seconds) and it looks like she is possessed! It appears that the phone cannot keep up with movement. I know it doesn't have a flash and I know how to adjust the settings. Even in bright light everything appears washed out. Are there any fixes or 3rd party apps that could resolve this? Will the new 2.1 update improve things?

When this happens, the pictures will have a "glowing", blurry, un sharp look. What I did was removing the piece of transparent plastic "lens protector" on the back cover and then used a small piece of screen protector and sticked it on the lenses. Even without it the chances you actually scratch the lens is virtually none. So now I have a hole in my back cover, but I dramatically improved my picture and video quality.

I was messing around with the camera settings and was able to produce decent results by changing ISO, brightness, etc. but that's a pain. Instead, tape a small strip of plain white paper over the LED flash. It diffuses the flash and makes a huge difference.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Hero has the latest ROM and is running on O2. when i get an MMS, the picture quality is terrible. i have been sent MMSs from different phones (inc. iphone) and different networks. The pictures look great on the phones on which they were taken, but appear low resolution when received on my hero. I can't find any setting to increase the quality. I do notice that when I open the received photo in albums, it is super tiny. So it looks like the Hero (or Android) is shrinking them. Are there some settings I can change? I can't find anything that appears relevant. Or else an app that will help?

A 5mp camera should be able to have very good quality don't you think? My friend has the i phone and i'm pretty sure its not better than 5mp and its video quality is amazing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen taking photo's this weekend that involved zooming in i found that the picture taken was never in focus. I have enabled the image stabilizer function but still whenever i zoom at all it is blurred (not sharp). When taking a picture that didn't involve zooming the image is sharp as you would expect from the camera. Is anyone having this trouble or is it just a dodge phone/camera i have and should go back to my supplier and exchange it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'll keep this one short - I just want to know if anyone has tried some of the available camera apps, and actually noticed better Incredible photos with less noise, brighter indoor photos without flash, color rendering, or better focus. If you could explain any theoreticals on how software interacts with the hardware to produce such improvements, that would be appreciated too.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if it is possible to improve to improve audio recorded during a video??
I mean I can record video at 720p 25 fps, but the DAMN audio gets recorded at 12 kbps!!
It's just tinny and annoying sound cuts up all the time.
So it is it possible to increase the bitrate of audio via modifying some system file or changing some parameters in phones hidden settings or something like that?? my phone is a Chinese Zopo PILOT ZP100. .
btw, When I use Sound / voice recorder, it records in 3gppp at high setting with 127 kbps AAC audio.
Is there any possibility to make audio recording with higher quality? And how can I read information that User is saying something? In Audio Recording application you can see such indicator (I don't know the right name for it.

I myself am not experiencing the call quality issue, so I can't vouch for the results. Link above indicates it may cause extra drain on battery. I used this same code years ago on a Samsung "dumb" phone and it did wonders for call quality and I did not notice a difference in battery life.
View 14 Replies View RelatedLast year, I implemented a web application specifically designed to display large jpgs (approx 950px x 1000+px) in a magazine style format on WebKit for the iPhone. It works great there, as well as any other WebKit-enabled device - until Android.
On other devices, tapping zooms the image, then there is a momentary pause while the image is rendered and sharpened - so text retains clarity. The pause/render/sharpen never takes place on the Motorola phone or the AVD I'm running though Eclipse. Even taking the web app out the equation, going directly to the image in Android's flavor of WebKit shows the same issue.
I've tried outputting jpgs with a much higher density: 165dpi, up to 600dpi - there is some clarity increase, but not enough.
Are large jpgs just a lost cause w/Android? Is the render/sharpen on zoom something that just hasn't made it's way into Android's version of WebKit?
I need to scale down images coming from a Network stream without losing quality. I am aware of this solution Android: Strange out of memory issue but it is too coarse - inSampleSize is an integer and does not allow finer control over the resulting dimensions. That is, I need to scale images to specific h/w dimensions (and keeping aspect ratio). I dont mind having a DIY bicubic/lancoz algorithm in my code but I cant find any examples that would work on Android as they all rely on Java2D (JavaSE). EDIT: Ive attached a quick source. The original is 720x402 HD screen capture. Please ignore the top 2 thumbnails. The top large image is resized automatically by android (as part of layout) to about 130x72. It is nice and crisp. The bottom image is resized with API and has severe artifacting. Code...

I want to display an image from an url with an Webview at Android. With Android phones with Version 1.5 and 1.6 there is no problem. but the same pic and the same code on an AndroidPhone with Version 2.0 and the pic is totaly pixelated. Like Android is resizing the image first to a smaller one and then resizing it back to "normal" size. Unfortunately its important to display the pic without any quality loss. I tried to integrate it in the sourcefolder to show it as an normal image, but at Android 2.0 i get an exception because the image is to big. (At Android 1.6 there is no problem) Any ideas how i can display the image without quality loss with Android 2.0 ?
