I am new to android and have just bought my new G1 phone. I want to know how to check if my phone is rooted, I bought it second hand and am currently getting to understand different things but I need help to understand this.

I was having trackball issues on my Eris AGAIN. I called verizon for the second time to get a second replacement phone for the same issue. They are sending me an Incredible!
Now, before I send my Eris in, I just want to be absolutely sure there is nothing on my phone that indicates that it was rooted. Does anyone know what all they check? What can I check on it? Under settings, network, the operator name is unknown. Is that the same for stock phones? Or when I unrooted it, could that have cleared that out?
I have taken a lot of steps this evening... I had Stock 2.2 OTA, which I was able to downgrade to 2.1-update1. I tried the unrevoked method a number of times, but perhaps (as some stated) because I have Windows 7 64 bit, I never was able to get through the process.
I used Simple Root, which didn't work initially, but I forced some updates through adb (and looking at Toast Method). In any case, I think I'm rooted now, but not completely sure.
I have a # cursor, instead of a $, so I think that indicates root.. I also can reboot into clockwork recovery.
However, Rom Manager indicates it doesn't have permission, therefore, I can't get any ROMs to update. I tried to rename the ROMs as update.zip, but that didn't work. I noticed the ROM Manager appears to be looking for an older version of Clockwork, and perhaps that why it doesn't recognize it.

In particular I want a 2.2 ROM (probably Fresh).

Before I disassemble the cig lighter adapter I have and put it inside the console, I want to make sure that it's one that can provide a full charge, not just a trickle. I'd read that the trick is to get one rated at 1000mA which I did, but I've also read that some charger with that rating still can't provide more than a trickle charge. It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"
When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"
So, the question is, should this be enabled?
I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.
I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.
