View 3 RepliesIn my enthusiasm I've found myself dragging icons around, sometimes to an adjacent page, and have inadvertently deleted a few. Is there any way to lock the screen when I have it the way I want it?
I have a Moto Droid
Any searches on the pertinent terms seem to find only info on the lock screen.
How to set position of icon in the alert dialog? below is the code I am using...
AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(context);
builder.setIcon(int id);
I want to take my activity the entire screen of the device and I could do that by making appropriate changes in the android manifest file (Theme. NoTitleBar .Fullscreen). But, now I just want battery status icon on my screen alongwith other components of my activity. Is that possible?if yes, then how? I tried to use battery manager but, it does not expose such interfaces. I guess its mainly useful for checking and using battery life status and firing intents appropriately. View 20 Replies View RelatedI'm writing a little 3D engine for android to better learn the platform and opengl. I hope to eventually use it as a base for little 3D games.
I'm trying to implement lighting right now, and generally following the NeHe opengl android port tutorials. I have a simple spinning cube and 1 light that should not change position. Upon rendering my scene on a device the light appears to "dim" and re-lighten as cube rotates.
This is a swf video of the behavior:
http://drop.io/obzfq4g
The code for my "engine" is located here: [url]
The relevant bits are:
[url]
This is where I'm initializing opengl and setting up my scene. and [url]this is the code for actually rotating / drawing the cube mesh.
I wish I could formulate a better question; but I'm very stuck/confused and can't even think of an intelligent question to ask besides "does anyone know what might cause the kind of behavior I'm seeing?"
Also the slowness / choppyness of the animation in the video is a result of the screencap software. It's smooth throughout the whole rotation on the emu.
I'm trying to make a ScrollView with a list of numbers in it that the user can select from. After the user touches and scrolls, after the finger is lifted I want the scroll to "snap" to the item in the middle of the ScrollView and give me the output. My ScrollView contains a vertical linear layout with TextView objects in it. The ScrollView's vertical size is about 60sp.
I think this would involve the ScrollView.onTouch with a ACTION_UP, but I don't know how to use it. Also, is there a way to get an item's index or value based on a position in the list?
I want my arrows to continuously move left and right with a delay of certain milliseconds dynamically. Any clue?

now i want to display it in the middle of screen or according to my choice can any one guide me how to achieve this?
If you use an AbsoluteLayout (I know that it is deprecated, but it was the only way to solve my problem ) you can give the childViews the tag "android:layout_x" and "android:layout_y" to set their absolute position within the AbsoluteLayout.
However I dont want to set these informationen in the xml, because I only know them at runtime. So how can I set these parameters at runtime programmatically? I dont see any method on the View like view.setLayoutX(int x) or something.
Here is my XML, which works fine, when I set the layout_x and layout_y values. code...
I have a layout which contains a TextView.
The content of the TextView might change on runtime. (discussed on a different issue here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3683727/layout-with-dynamic-position )
I can position the layout by drag&drop. If the size of the layout doesn't change, the position stays, but as soon as the size of the layout changes (because more text inside the TextView) the position is reseted.
I use the layout(left, top, right, bottom) to position the layout.
Now I don't know where I should add my layout() call to make sure it stays at the right position...
Here is my class
CODE:............
I am wondering if we can change orientation just by sensing the layout position, port or land;without flip like iphone does.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have had the Incredible for a while now and I absolutely love the phone. The only thing that has really bugged me from day one is the positioning of the home screen. The phone is suppose to be fully customizable but it seems that the one thing I have yet to figure out is how to change where my home screen is located. I would much rather have my home screen set as the left most screen instead of having it directly in the middle of my seven available screens. You know, sort of like how the iphone is and what not. Does anyone know if something like this is possible?

View 5 Replies View RelatedFrom the standard home screen on the X10, when you drag your finger across to the left to open the screen to the right of the home page, is there any functionality to change the order and position of apps/widgets I have added.
The reason I ask is because when I add them, they are not aligned to each other and have been positioned pretty haphazardly, plus I'd like to be able to determine myself where each icon is placed.
On my htc i was looking through display, i see g sensor calibration and i perform this calibration and after i do so the screen seems to have a delay when switch from the horizontal position to the vertical position. its weird because when i switch to the phone horizontally it switch normally and responds fast. but when i switch back to vertically it takes almost 7 seconds to actually switch back, sometimes it switch within 2 or 3 secs but never as quick as switching horizontally.

If you're already updated, shut down and repower (soft reboot) should do the trick. I actually updated my phone and after it started to do this. I restarted the phone plenty of times i even took the battery out for 30 seconds. It only does it when im texting on the browser, basically everything but the camera. He camera screen rotation is perfect. I even rooted the phone but i havent figured out how to use the root to fix the problem. Should i do a firmware update? Because i just did the htc software update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a tab activity with 3 tabs. Each tab has a default icon.
I want these icons have to be changed dynamically on each tab selected.
I mean, each tab has two icons, one for on tab select, another for on tab deselect.
Can any one please suggest me how to do it?
Here is my sample code...
I have a tab bar for which I've set the initial icons and labels as necessary. I have also hooked the onTabChanged callback of the TabHost such that I'm properly getting notified when a user selects a tab.
However, I've now discovered that there's not direct way to change the indicator of a tab. Can anyone enlighten me as to how the indicator icon can be changed on a tab when selected, and I'd like to do this programmatically (i.e. not in XML preferably).
There must be some way of doing this, given the Android developer docs set forth specs on selected states for tab icons.
I have a tabhost with icon, when a tab is selected X, the icon does not appear because the icon is the same color as the selected tab. The question is:
How do I change the icon, when a tab is selected X?
I already have the button:
CODE:..............
I have the "empty" icon show on the button when the program starts.
What I want to do is change the button's icon automatically from my code (low, medium and high) based on user inputs
I tried:
Button myButton = ..........
But I cant figure out
The purpose of this tutorial is to change the generic windows icon of your G1 to an Android icon. What icon you ask? The generic removable disk icon given to your G1 when you plug it in to your PC. i thought it would be fun to create one that differentiates it from the rest. So here we go!
1. First of all we are going to download the pack ive created for you here.
2. Second we are going to rename the drive to Android G1 like i have on this image.
3. Third we are simply going to unpack the files you downloaded using an application like, WinRAR or 7-Zip. WinRAR offers you a 30day trial and 7-Zip is an open source freeware product. Choose one that fits you.
4. Now we are simply going to drag it into the root of the drive. Seeing since mine is the "K:/" drive, im going to place it in there. Once that is done, highlight both icons and choose properties and check off the "Hidden" attribute so that you don't accidentally delete them.
5. You're all set! Enjoy your new icon! Im going to be making a Vista version for all you people that like high quality icons. Stay tuned!
