KitKat 4.4 :: Nexus 5 - How To Arrange Apps In Custom Order
Nov 24, 2013just received my Nexus 5 a few days ago. I would like to know how can I arrange my apps in custom order in the app drawer, just so the more frequently used apps are on the first page. Also, is there any way to create folders in the app drawer? I really like the look of the kitkat launcher, so I am not sure if I want to go with a different launcher at this point. I tried googling before posting here, but couldn't find any solution specific for kitkat.

Is there a file within the rooted Android system that can be edited to change the order of the application while booting up the device?
For example:
After you Flash the ROM, if you have installed Application "A" the Application "B" ..."C"...etc.
When the device is booting, some times you find that Application "C" is loaded before Application "A".
What i need is:
Application "A" to be always loaded FIRST then "C" then "B .......etc...
I tried to check "init.rc" and some others without success...

Currectly the tabs are dislayed one row and two columns(for 2 tabs each column as one tab). Now what I require is that when the view changes from portrait to landscape, the tabs should be positioned to the left of the screen like two rows and one column each row with one tab. I know there's the AsyncTask that is probably provided to solve my case. There's even a good example of how it should be used. But since there's no guarantee of how long an Activity instance will live the AsyncTask should be cancelled on onSaveInstanceState (and restarted on onRestoreInstanceState). This means using AsyncTask there's no guarantee we are able to fully fulfill the job once started. In some cases as sending an http post request for creating a user I would not want to get in "user already exists for this login" trouble on reruning the AsyncTask. This is possible since the AsyncTask can be interrupted while the request is already sent (and the server actually is doing its job - creating a new user), but the AsyncTask is canceled before we got the response.

Oct 8, 2010Some of my friends at the contact list are also my friends at work. And I added their work emails to their contact profile. Now for those contacts they have 2 email addresses. Work and private. The problem is. How can I change that work email address to be primary address? Now if i link contacts with Facebook the primary email address is always their private mail, but for those working friends I want to change that primary address to be works email address.

May 5, 2010Switched from Blackberry to Incredible and have hopefully a simple contacts question. My listing for a friend, John, has a cell and home number. His listing will give me an option to message each listed number. But, I only want to message his cell and would like that to be the primary action for messaging (in fact messaging his home could preferably be deleted since it isn't possible). Holding down the number doesn't give me the option to change like the calling listings do. Right now it looks like the primary messaging option is email, which I don't want. When I create a message in Handcent and type his name, the two numbers come up but there are no descriptions to help me distinguish between his cell and home numbers. I do have contacts synced with google with some Facebook links if that is important.

Oct 30, 2010I'd like to sell my HD2 running Android. However I cannot get it to reset the gmail account that I entered on it. These are things I've tried. Its a windows based hd2 running android so the correct section was a little confusing. Also I didn't flash it and of course the person that did isn't around compounding the issue. I need to maintain the flash but if I can't I can't .
1. data reset, several times
2. deleting the account ( I get an error saying, " This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults").
3. Going in and clearing "google apps" which doesn't exist.

We're moving to a new place next month and I was wondering if anyone else uses their 4G phones as their primary internet service. That would save us like 50-60 bucks a month. Sep 7, 2010Some Contacts defaulted to the Contact Details as a primary. I have tried changing the primary to the call number I want for the primary. It does not seem to work. Please tell me if I am doing this correctly. I press the people button on the home page, then I press the photo of the Contact I want to view. Then I press the Index Card Icon. I am now looking at the Contacts Details. I hold down the phone number I want to make primary. It never gives me the Make Primary Option. If the Contact shows no Primary, I can set a Primary. But if the Contact already shows a wrong Primary, I can't change it.
