Android :: Converting Byte Rgb_565 Array Into Argb Or Rgb Array

Jan 12, 2010

I have Picture data in byte rgb_565 array, and I want convert it in a productive way into argb array. Right now I have found only one (little slow) way to do this: Bitmap mPhotoPicture = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(imageData, 0 , imageData.length);

where imageData is my byte[] array in rgb_565, and then: int pixels[] = new int[CameraView.PICTURE_HEIGHT*CameraView.PICTURE_WIDTH]; mPhotoPicture.getPixels(pixels, 0,PICTURE_WIDTH, 0, 0, PICTURE_WIDTH, PICTURE_HEIGHT);

The point is I believe creating a Bitmap object is exacting and not necessary in this case. Is there any other faster way to convert rgb_565 array into argb array? I need this because making image processing on rgb_565 array seems to be a little annoying. Or maybe it is not so hard?

Android :: Converting Short Array To Byte Array

Feb 16, 2010

I am trying to make an application that would be able to send the user's voice over the network using RTP. I am using the ported stack from hsc (JLIBRTP) and I am able to record user's voice in a saperate thread. the problem is that jlibrtp uses has a class named RTPSession that is responsible for the session and has the sendData method that takes a byte [] as argument and the AudioFormat class I am using to record user's voice is in AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT wich is short. I have tried using 8bit audioformat but I get an illigalargument exception in my htc magic and in my emulator. So is there any way I can convert the short [] to byte [] ? would that be acceptable in order of voice quality?, is the above error a known bug for htc magic or the platform doesn't support 8bit audio format?

Android :: Abort SAX Parsing Mid Document?

Apr 5, 2010

I'm parsing a very simple XML schema with a SAX parser in Android. An example file would be
<Lists>
<List name="foo">
<Note title="note 1" .../>
<Note title="note 2" .../>
</List>
<List name="bar">
<Note title="note 3" .../>
</List>
</Lists> the represents more note data as attributes that aren't important to question.I use a SAX parser to parse the document and only implement the startElement and 'endElement' methods of the HandlerBase to handle Note and List nodes.However, In some cases the files can be very large and take some time to process. I'd like to be able to abort the parsing process at any time (i.e. user presses cancel button).The best way I've come up with is to throw an exception from my startElement method when certain conditions are met (i.e. boolean stopParsing is true).Is there a better way to do this?I've always used DOM style parsers, so I don't fully understand the SAX parser.One final note, I'm running this on Android, so I will have the Parser running on a worker thread to keep the UI responsive. If you know how I can kill the thread safely while the parser is running that would answer my question as well.

Android :: Navigating An Array - String Array

Oct 12, 2010

I'm new to android developing but right now I'm working on an application that displays Random Facts. Since I don't want it to be in a random order, I would like to have them in a list. I would like to order through them one by one and show them using TextView.

Resources res = getResources();
myString = res.getStringArray(R.array.FactsArray);

That's what I have so far. If I'm right, that just establishes the array so I can be able to use it later. What I had before was rgenerator which chose a random string from the array and displayed it when I clicked a button.

CODE:................

But Like I said, I would like to just order through them one by one when a button is clicked.

Android :: Http Post Abort Not Returning Immediately When Called From Separate Thread

Mar 24, 2010

I am using a DefaultHttpClient and a ThreadSafeClientConnManager to share the httpClient across threads. That part is working well. However, when I execute an HttpPost in one thread, and call httpPost.abort() from another. It does not return immediately and continues blocking until the socket timeout is reached in most cases. Am I missing something else? I've tried using: connectionManager.closeIdleConnections(30, TimeUnit.SECONDS); connectionManager.closeExpiredConnections();

Android :: Bluetooth - Read Call Of InputStream - Call Gives - IOException - Software Caused Abort Exception

I'm having problems during the "read" call of the InputStream. The call gives me a "IOException: Software Caused Abort" exception. I'm able to get the BluetoothSocket and also the able to "connect" to the device. My app. is in the client mode and sends in a "x" byte "command" to the device which is then supposed to send me a "response". The expected "response" is also of "x" bytes. This is where the error arises.. While reading the "response" i'm getting the above mentioned error.

Android :: Cancel/abort Connection From ThreadSafeClientConnManager Connection Pool

Oct 14, 2009

I'm using ThreadSafeClientConnManager to manage a pool of client connections, because my application has several threads, which are simultaneously connecting to a webserver.

Abstract sample code:

CODE:..............

Now lets say on of this threads is downloading a large file, but then the user of my application is switching to another activity/screen. Therefor the file is needless and I'd like to abort this download connection.

In ThreadSafeClientConnManager I found this method: public ClientConnectionRequest requestConnection (HttpRoute route, Object state) Returns a new ClientConnectionRequest, from which a ManagedClientConnection can be obtained or the request can be aborted.

So far I've been using:

CODE:.........

Now from what I understand, I've to use:

httpclient.getConnectionManager().requestConnection(HttpRoute route, Object state);

And that's the point where I'm stuck. I assume that for the route I can just use new HttpRoute(new HttpHost("10.0.0.1")) or whatever my server is, but what to put in for Object state?

And second, as soon as I've the ClientConnectionManager I can call getConnection(long timeout, TimeUnit tunit). But then from there, how I do I execute my HttpGet httpRequest = new HttpGet(URL_TO_FILE); as I did before with HttpResponse response = (HttpResponse) httpclient.execute(httpRequest);?

I've been gone through the documentation and tried out quite a few different things, but I wasn't able to obtain a working solution. Therefor any suggestions and/or code examples are more than welcome.

Android :: Sorting ListView ?

Apr 14, 2010

I'm only starting with Android dev, and while the Milestone is a nice device Java is not my natural language and I'm struggling with both the Google docs on Android SDK, Eclipse and Java itself. Anyway...

I'm writing a microblog client for Android to go along with my Windows client (MahTweets). At the moment I've got Tweets coming and going without fail, the problem is with the UI.

The initial call will order items correctly (as in highest to lowest)

3
2
1

When a refresh is made

3
2
1
6
5
4

After the tweets are processed, I'm calling adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();

Initially I thought that getItem() on the Adapter needed to be sorted (and the code below is what I ended up with), but I'm still not having any luck.

CODE:.....................................

Is there a better way to go about sorting ListViews in Android, while still being able to use the LayoutInflater? (rowLayout = t.GetParent().GetUI(t, parent, c) expands the UI to the specific view which the microblog implementation can provide)

Also, if there is one where you could sort people by key words like soccer, school, parties, etc. Also, with the Verizon network, is there anyway to send texts to more than ten people at once? Android :: Contact Sorting By Stroke - ICU4C Subdata

Jun 8, 2009

One of the task of we are working on is to enable the Android Contact sorting by stroke for LOCALE zh_TW. It's very easy to enable the contact sorting by Pinyin for zh_CN, but when I take the same method to enable sorting stroke for zh_TW, the sorting result is either sorted by UNICODDE or PinYin. It's very strange. I have investigated the related code located in android_pkgs/external/icu4c/xxx and tried many options but failed to find a wayout. Is there anybody familiar with icu4c or have ever done some work on this topic? Here I'd like to append the steps (mainly on the location android_pkgs/external/icu4c/) I did as reference:

a. append zh_TW into product locales;
b. append the zh_TW support into icu4c/stubdata/Android.mk
c. taking the cfg-us as example, create a folder cfg-us-zh and append zh_xx related 'zh_xxx.res' files;
d. ./helper.sh us-zh will generate a updated icudt38l-us-zh.dat;
e. recompile Android to launch emulator -EOM-

Android :: Quert And Sorting Update Of Content Provider

Jun 14, 2009

I implement ProviderTestCase2 to test my content provider functions. And when I insert huge number (about 10000) of data, the insert, delete and update functions are fine. But the query function will have SQLiteDiskIOOException: disk I/O error. And the data number limit of causing the exception is about 5000. Is it bug of content provider?

And there is another problem. Each of my data has different priority. When I sort my data by priority, its no problem. But when I change priority of some data and then sorting again. Sometimes I will get incorrect result and I'm sure its not logical problem of test program.

Android :: Sorting Bookmarks / Contacts Or Any Other Content Provider / Resolver

Sep 27, 2010

Is it possible to actually re-sort an Android SQL DB? for example, I want to resort the Bookmarks DB. I can query the data and sort it with "Browser.BookmarkColumns.TITLE + " ASC" in the query but this will only sort the list shown to the user and will not sort the DB itself. Therefore, if a user uses my app to sort the Bookmarks by Title(ASC) and then goes to the Android Browser Bookmarks - the order will remain default (other than the one selected on my app).

Android :: Sorting Results When Autocomplete Matches Multiple Columns In SQL

Oct 27, 2009

I've run into an issue with an autocomplete field I'm working on.The field I'm working with is composed of the form "<NAME> (<CODE>)".When a user starts typing in text, I want to display any results that match either NAME or CODE.For example, if this list contains items and their codes, like "Personal Computer (PC)", then I'd want the list to pop up that row if the user types "P", "PC", "Per", etc.However, the problem I'm running into now is how to best sort the results that come back from this.For example, If someone enters "PC", I want "Personal Computer (PC)" to be the first result. However, if there's another row (you'll have to bear with me as this is contrived) "PC Case (301)", then there's no simple ordering I can do on the results to ensure that the best match appears first. Ordering by name and code both returns PC Case first.I want a query where it returns the best match first, rather than items in alphabetical order.Is there such a function I can use in SQLite to get this, or should I return the results and then mess with the order in the code?
