May 31, 2010I am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)?
I realize this is somewhat of a ridiculous request but I have read blogs of people being enticed by google and offered a free phone to convert their web apps into Android apps. So I figure there is no harm in asking.
I am also wondering what the cost of the developer phone is once you pay your $25 to enter the android market place as a developer through the developer account.
Android :: Need Droid Apps That Alter Normal Phone Operations
Feb 19, 2010So i was wondering if its possible to for an application that i would write to be constantly running in the background and alter regular phone operations. For example this could be something like as soon as you receive a text from anyone you forward it automatically to another number. Is something like this at all possible? Just to be clear I don't want to solve that particular problem through some other means, just want to know if apps can accomplish that. Also if that is possible is it possible for an app that i write to alter more immediate and instant things, like an incoming call.

Jul 21, 2010I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

Nov 12, 2009Is there any way to start my Droid Phone in "clean" mode? I just discovered that one recording app was killing my outbound phone, and I have some other wierdnesses with zoom happening. Before I go round and round with Verizon, I would like to start my phone without all the add-ons running. But I do not want to uninstall and reinstall everything, just to see/prove that the new apps are not causing my zoom problem.

Best bet at the moment is it will be a HTC Android phone. But, who knows what will be out then, it's at least 7 months away.

2. The phone came with handcent messaging app which is cool but what is not cool and semi annoying is every time I get a text message it alerts me with the original app and that one. and if i check one the other one does not always clear the alert.

Dec 6, 2009As I continue to downlaod and try new apps, I notice that some of the permissions that some of them have are/is: "Prevent phone from sleeping". I didn't think much about it, but after conditioning my phone...for a few days I was getting around 11% awake time, now after a few of these apps after a recharge this AM I am showing 26%...before the charge my awake time was very high again. I always use Adavanced Task Killer after messing with the phone, 9/10 trials.

Mar 4, 2010I stepped on my first Eris (don't ask) and had to get a replacement through Asurion. Well, I thought when I got my new phone I would be able to redownload all the apps I had purchased but I cant. The Market wants me to pay for them all again. I guess the market tracks you specifially with your phone, not your account. So I called Verizon, of course they were no help. The chick didn't even try to help, I asked her if I could get those apps back and she stalled for a second like she really didnt know but also didnt want to take the time to find out, then she said NOPE. I was like man, that sucks, she said YEP! That was the end of the conversation. Surely there is a way for me to get these apps back without paying for them again? I know they are inexpensive but when you have 10 or so they start to add up! Not to mention I had my first phone for less than a month and hardly got to enjoy the apps I purchased. I've thought about emailing the dev's but dont know if thats a good approach or not.
