Which programming languages can I use on Android Dalvik?
Mostly, Android applications are written in Java. But i heard that its also possible to use Scala or some other languages. And I also read that it's possible to include native C/C++ code.
Is there a reference/list available that shows which languages can be used?

I'm new to game programming. But I've got an ide for what I think would be a fun game for the Android platform.
My question is, where do I start? Anyone got some good sites to recommend or perhaps a book or two. I've got medium skills when it come to programming but iv got a masters of science degree in computer engineering so I'm not totally unfamiliar with algorithms and stuff.

Is there any way to start my Droid Phone in "clean" mode? I just discovered that one recording app was killing my outbound phone, and I have some other wierdnesses with zoom happening. Before I go round and round with Verizon, I would like to start my phone without all the add-ons running. But I do not want to uninstall and reinstall everything, just to see/prove that the new apps are not causing my zoom problem.

Now Google is working on App Inventor, a program that lets pretty much anybody piece together their own apps:
Android App Inventer Makes Average Joe a Developer | These are the Droids
I foresee the Android Market being flooded with DIY apps, some good, some junk. What say you? Good thing for Android or a disaster in the making?

I have made apps for the iPhone, but want to also code for the Android but want to know if it is first worth my time, second worth my having to learn another language, and third worth the effort in the sense that am I going to make a profit from this. Also if in any way Android code is similar, then will it be hard to bring the iPhone (Xcode) files, or copy and paste my iPhone code into the Android code.

I am more of a graphics designer than a programmer.I have very basic knowledge as far as programming and API's are concerned.I know there are tools out there which can Compile and Recompile APKs,but I was wondering if its possible to edit just the graphical elements of the app (say, change the app icon,or modify the typography, or color accents) without the need for changing a whole lot of the code?

As the title says i'm new to the Android community, and i don't have much experience on the development side either. but i am very interested in getting started. I see that Android apps are based off of Java... So would it be better for me to learn Java before getting started with the SDK and eclipse? Or is it just the same to jump right in on App development and learn on the fly?

I'm planning to become android developer w/ Android 2.1 SDK For some reason I like to AT&T network. Since Motorola backflip is the only phone available on AT&T and reading recent reports that it only allows apps to be downloaded from Android Marketplace
I've a basic yet very important question:
Is it possible for a developer to write an app and upload to the device? If so my next doubt is how would I upgrade the OS from Android 1.5 to Android 2.1 on my backflip device?

I am developing my first Android App. I have an application already running on emulator (Eclipse + Android dev. tools) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx - released in April 2010. I have already tryied the steps provided on Android Developers Portal on this link, but whenever I try to list my already connected device using ./adb devices
I get the following:
mmaia@mmaia-desktop:~/tools/android-sdk-linux_86/tools$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
? no permissions
I have checked and when I run the virtual emulator the same command returns:
List of devices attached
? no permissions
emulator-5554 device
Also when I ask eclipse to run the emulator it finds the device(galaxy 5), see image below, but can't find serial, probably because of some permission, than I am only able to choose the virtual emulator.
How do I configure permission to use Galaxy 5 as a device while developing for Android under Ubuntu 10.04?
