View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
Has anyone noticed that when you install an application manually vs a downloaded one from the market it doesn't update when a newer version comes out?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some pre-installed applications on my G1 (IM, HiDialer, some Chinese appplications etc.) But i cannot uninstall them. It just says: uninstall not succesful. I read some other topics about this and there werent many answers. Only thing some people reply is just: get rooted. What if I am rooted? Then how do I uninstall them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on an app that will be shipped on some phones. I have been thinking about how to update them once a new version is ready. How that would work for a pre-installed app? As an initial thought I think I could pop up a message letting the user know there is a new version ready, but if I could avoid unnecessary request to the server it would be better. If a google engineer comes across this please give me a hint as you do this for Google Maps.

I wasn't able to figure out how to extract their correspondent version information.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC desire with Froyo 2.2, I'm not sure whether this is a Froyo issue but some of the apps I install are not visible in my all apps view, when I go to the market screen it says that they are installed and I can open them from there but they do not appear as a widget or app anywhere on my phone. The latest app to not install properly is the droid comic viewer, again I can use it from the market screen but can't find it anywhere else on the phone.

Apps such as Footprints and MOffice are just a waste of space and could do w/o.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a situation like this. I have a "A" app which shows on home screen. When I click this "A" app, It will show many other apps which installed or will be installed on the device. ut the problem is I only want to show these apps through the "A" app only.Is it possible?? If installing and hiding icons not possible, I can dynamically download these apps from my own cloud and load them at the request.
Can anyone please guide me some ideas or something?'m so lost here and just no clue at all how to start!
I put a few apps on my micro sd card (via phone mounted to pc over usb) then I opened astro and installed them on the phone. Apps work fine; but I can't update them? All it will let me do is buy them...? WTC?
The apps are 1)Beautiful Widgets 2)Office Suite 3)Switch Pro Widget
Phone: VZW HTC Incredible
Anyone know what the problem is? These apps all show update available but when I go into the market to let the apps get updated it won't let me; all it will let me do is buy...?
There are several apps that I have tried out and for various reasons the app didn't suit my needs so I uninstalled the app. Some of these apps were very close to what I was looking for so it is possible that a future upgrade to the app would make the app useful for my needs. In these cases, it would be nice to be able to have a list of these apps and get notified when an update is available. Is there a way to get notified of or monitor updates to an app that is not installed? I realize that I could just leave all these apps installed even though I wouldn't use them and then I would get update notifications through the marketplace, but that is just a waste of space and clutters the app drawer.

Is there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I seem to be having problems locating icons for apps installed via HTC Sync.
After installation, icons for the programs don't appear in the programs list. I've confirmed they're installed, as they show up in the manage apps list. Any programs installed via the Market show up on the programs list.
Is there a way to determine what apps are currently installed on an android device? I guess reading /data/app directory doesn't do the trick (access denied).
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust got my Desire last week. Fantastic phone I have to say. One thing I haven't been able to find out yet is whether or not you can connect to a fileshare for e.g. pcsharename I know this works on a HD2, but that's a Windows phone. I noticed thewre is a VPN connection option. One would think that you should be able to connect to a network fileshare. Does any one know if this is possible with the standard apps installed or do I need an app from the Market?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm up for a new phone to replace my hated BB Storm. I played with the DX and D2, ( still can't decide) in the store. What struck me was the amount of apps or widgets for things I'll never use cluttering the screens. Can these be removed or is this all linked to the OS? Is this what people are talking about in reference to installing ROMS? I understand that this is not yet possible on the Ds because of eFuse. I also understand it is being worked on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't think this is an issue specific to my phone model. When I go into the Android Market (or Play Store) and I look at my apps it previously showed purchased apps but now it shows all the apps I've ever installed. If I want to install an app I purchased previously I have to search through all the hundreds of apps I have ever installed!
I've tried to find a resolution via Google but I keep getting results showing how to clear market search history.
Like I said, previously before I upgraded to ICS the market only showed installed apps and purchased apps that I haven't installed, now it shows every app I have ever installed and it seems to include apps I installed on my android tablet!
