Android :: Get Rid Of Droid Market On Phone?
Nov 2, 2010
I have a weird question. I know its not the idea of AppMarkets, but is it somehow possible to get rid of the android market on a Android Phone. Customer wants to provide its own market, so that customers who buys their own sold phone (a new HTC with Customners Branding and User-Interface). They have several Apps to provide and will publish them via an App on this Phone initially installed.

EVO has Sense, for sure, now so those that hope to run stock Android and avoid the fluff while still having the best phone on the market (complete with two cameras) will have to hope and wait for a root. Our friends over at Wirefly are running a series of side by side comparisons of some of our favorite Androids against Sprint's upcoming HTC EVO 4G. The charts are very well put together, and show just about every spec you could ever want to know in a clear, easy to read format. A fight to the pain; GO! They've got the EVO 4G vs. Verizon's freshly-released Droid Incredible: And the EVO 4G vs. the best-selling Android to date; the Motorola DROID: Of course no pricing is available for the EVO yet, but the craziest thing about this comparison is that they have dropped the price of the Moto DROID down to $19.99! That's just insane for a phone of the DROID's caliber...................

I just received a second hand VZW Moto Droid. The phone and everything on it work fine except it is running Firmware 2.0 When I check for updates it says that there are no updates available. My old Droid that broke was running the 2.2 How do I upgrade to the 2.2 or will the update just appear one of these days? Also the yahoo mail app does not appear in the marlet on the new phone but I had been running it on my old phone. Is this due to the older operating system?

I just did a factory reset because I have tried out bunches of programs and just wanted to start fresh, I did it all the time on all my old phones(palm and winmo) with no problem. It turns out that when you do a reset, not only do you loose all your programs but the phone has to be registered to your account. I got it back up in running, wifi works and so does making phone calls, all my contacts and e-mails are synced and I thought everything was good. I went to the market and it even shows me all the apps I had installed previously, however when I tell it to install something, it just stays stuck on the "starting download.." message...........

I had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...

I've been rooted with Droid Mod forever and have never had any issues or never tried other roms it worked so I've stayed with it. Anyway I was screwing around trying to fix a problem and did a nandroid back up and and restore ( i'm clueless) Did not wipe info (that scares me) and I reflashed the rom a couple times because I kept selecting or deselecting the wrong things. Finally got everything perfect. The phone seemed to like the mini overhaul. But when I rebooted the market apk is gone. No where to be found. All my apps are there but no icon for market. Its just gone. Can I get that, download it desktop, mount, and drag to phone somewhere?

Anyone else agree? Hands down, the best android phone on the market. Crazy specs, and everything seems to work well. The video chat apps are great, and android has a fairly large sized app catalog now - Although, in my opinion there are better apps for the iphone. So after talking to my buddy about it, he said something that really has me thinking. We were talking about how this is one of the, if not most, responsive android phones out there - but even still, there's a minor lag to it. It's a very slight delay, but it not only is it during swiping home screens but also follows into the app drawer and others. So anyways what he said was that this new (to us) technology is great, but it's still not as smooth as the old iPhone and he's right.
The latest and greatest android device still isn't running as smoothly as my old iPhone 3GS. Obviously it has to do with a number of things, but I just can't help be bothered by it. Another example is scrolling - Sometimes when scrolling I'll end up selecting and opening something. Doesn't make sense to me at all, maybe I have to relearn how to scroll? Anyways I don't know who of you are coming from an iPhone, but I just thought I'd share. This is my 3rd android handset (hero, moment) and I think the OS is good....but there need some kinks worked out. Hopefully everything is better on Froyo.

I'm running the emulator using the dev phone system images of 1.6 to download paid apps from the market to use on my htc desire in sweden. Why? because the market for paid apps isn't available here. The apps in question aren't available on slideme etc either so this is my last resort. One problem arised: An app I downloaded works for 2.1 and desire, but when I download it from the market with the emulator with 1.6 I get an older "legacy" version of the app that isn't compatible with 2.1. Due to this I wonder if there is any hackie crackie crazy way of getting a 2.1 system image onto the emulator or in any other way fooling the android market app or whatever to download apps as if the emulator phone was 2.1?

So I rooted both mine and my wife's phone to Ivan's 1.0 (2.1 with OC). Her Market works totally fine. It's fast and loads everything and all tabs are there. Mine was sort of working at first, now it's completely come to a halt. The "top paid" tab is missing (when does finally load), most of the time it just gets stuck on "loading". I've tried clearing cache, doing a factory reset, reflashing the ROM, using the market fix (that puts the "top paid" tab back, but doesn't fix the slowless). It's just seriously broken.
Again, I've flashed the exact same ROM on mine and my wife's Eris, and hers works totally fine. I've searched for this issue on google and it seems this is a common problem, but no one has found a solution that works for me. I've tried them all, and none of them work. If I would have known rooting was going to break something so basic I possibly wouldn't have done it.

We've upgraded yesterday our App (easy.go) on the Android Market and after that we have got several messages from HTC Tattoo and Sony Ericsson XPeria mini users, that they can't see application on Android Market. We are not you using Copy Protection when uploading to the market, so I guess, it couldn't be a problem. The first assumption is that the problem was because of small screens. I took a look in manifest.xml. There is written: Code...
