View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a statement like:
System.out.println("My simplified Chinese characters: 好");
However in the LogCat (Eclipse Plugin) the Chinese characters appear as some junk chars:
05-11 22:14:11.182: INFO/System.out(31582): My simplified Chinese characters: Ã¥¥½Ã¥Æ’
First, I thought it was a LogCat font issue but I tried a whole bunch of Chinese fonts and all gave the same result.
The Chinese characters display fine in my Java source code (UTF-8 encoded).
Also the chars appear fine in the Emulator. Any thoughts?
I've written this small app, nothing special it just contains an edittextview control and the strange thing is that when I type text on this textbox it converts English characters into Chinese (or Japanese, I can't tell) characters.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, for a lark, I downloaded the Google Pinyin IME, which allows me to enter Chinese characters on my Droid X. It works handily. But when I put the characters in an SMS using hand-cent, it never arrives at its destination. It's not that it arrives as gibberish, it just doesn't arrive. My friend, in a trouble shooting attempt, installed it on his Droid Incredible, also using hand-cent. I receive his SMS's with the Chinese characters in them perfectly fine, but he never receives mine. When I use my goggle voice account to send myself an SMS with Chinese characters in it, it arrives as little squares. Is this a Verizon problem, a hand cent problem, or something else entirely.

I have two text file, both of them contains Chinese characters, one text file is saved using ANSI encoding, but this file's Chinese characters can not be displayed by htmlviewer on the phone. The Chinese characters in another txt file saved using unicode can be displayed ok by htmlviewer. Do you have any suggestions on this, does Chinese characters using ANSI encoding supported?

How can i add Korean to the captivate?
the t mobile vibrant has a korean language setting on the phone but the ATT one does not have that (why att why .
thank for ur help also typing in korean would be nice too i dont see any options for the captivate but the vibrant has this..
So I got my HTC Desire (Telus/Canada) a few days ago, and I am a complete noob when it comes to smartphones, this being my first one - but I learn very fast when it comes to these things.
Anyways - my issue is regarding reading incoming Korean SMS. I've already searched the market and installed Korean Input Keyboard which allowed me to write Korean. I've even gone to the point of installing the Korean UI through More Locale 2 to make my interface all Korean.
Anyways, the strange thing is - I can read/write Korean on my Android MSN (MSN Talk), but I cannot read incoming Korean SMS texts that may come from my friends, but on the flip-side, they can read what I'm sending them in Korean. None of my friends have the Desire (but they have android phones) so I'm left alone to search the net for a solution.
I don't want to "root" my phone - as I've found out that removes the warranty on the phone (kind of like jail-breaking I guess). I would if I've had the phone for a good 1.5~2years but since I got it only a few days ago, I'd like to avoid this. Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum. MOD can just move it if they wish.
I'm about to buy a Motorola Droid in five hours after much consideration and reading through forums. However, one question that has addressed me is whether or not the Droid has foreign language support, specifically Korean. I want to listen to some songs with Korean titles, but I'm not sure whether or not the Droid can display Korean letters in its music app. I've heard from previous Android users that 1.5 has difficulties displaying unicode letters and just makes them boxes, similar to the old Zunes (Lol fail player) which cannot support any Asian languages. Anybody have any experience with this?
ALSO regarding the Droid Eris. Is the on screen keyboard similar to the apple iPhone's (Response time, Sensitivity) or rather similar to the LG Dare (I despise this type of keyboard, slow, vibrate very uncoordinated). And since its running android 1.5 not 2.0, does this have problems with korean too?
I want to delete de korean keybord, how can I do that, because it pops-up with de qwerty keybord when i want too text someone??

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty while parsing some Turkish sites.Here is the part of the code. The problem is when the title contains some non-UTF characters like it stops parsing and doesnt read the rest. For example if the title is "Ebru askere gitti" it only reads until which is "Ebru G". Or when reading "Serdar Orta net oldu" it only read "Serdar Or"
CODE:....................
I'm using a SAXParser to parse an XML document and its getting stuck on certain symbols like the 'trademark' symbol and I think even double- quotes". I really don't need these characters so it would be fine if the parser just skips over these. Instead it throws an exception and quits parsing the document. What can I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently I have an edittext field that when the user presses enter it does mostly what I want it to, validate an IP Address format and inform the user if it is wrong. How do I make it so when the user presses enter it checks it like it is supposed to be does not enter the newline character?
Here is my code for it.
public boolean onEditorAction(TextView arg0, int arg1, KeyEvent arg2) {
if(validateIPaddress(m_etIPAddress.getText().toString())){
ConfigData.m_IPAddress = m_etIPAddress.getText().toString();
} else { showAlertDialog("Invalid IP Address
Example: 255.255.255.255 0.0.0.0","Error: ");
m_etIPAddress.setText(ConfigData.m_IPAddress);
m_etIPAddress.requestFocus();
} return false;
}
Another problem I have is that in the false condition of the validation, that it will not bring up the soft keyboard to allow the user to reedit that text field. If the user clicks on another edit text the window gives it focus, and allows the user to edit the second text field while still maintaining the 'green outline' around the original edittext.
The EditText still creates a newline. I tried calling that when I create the EditText and it shows the dialog then inserts a newline character at the beginning which is weird because the
m_etIPAddress.setText(ConfigData.m_IPAddress);
Should automatically overwrite anything in that field to the static IP saved within ConfigData. (my settings class) and I think the focus might work, the problem is that after requestFocus, that EditText shows it has focus but is unresponsive. I can click on other EditText's and modify them, while it still shows the focus outline on the IP EditText. If I click on the IP EditText it doesn't actually do anything. Its kind of strange.
