Just got the droid x, huge upgrade from the iphone 3g ball and chain i've had for 2 years.I want to set the default text messaging program for certain contacts to be google voice, but the rest of the people to send using the default texting app.Is this possible?

You know how you can click on "send message" in People?
and it used to as how do you want to send the txt msg - through the phone's msg app or through google's GV app
well... I've clicked "set as default" (or was it "use this method from now on" - anyway, words to that effect) and now i can't change it!!
anyone know how to change the default?
(and before anyone says "menu" or "long press" - i've already tried it!!)
((also - I've already tried uninstall/reinstall GV from the mkt --- a few times))
So I have my Facebook account set to sync with my contact but I use Google voice all the time for text and phone. Is there a way to get the pictures that go with my contact to show up when they text or call my gvoice number?
All my pictures are from Facebook so if everything works right the pictures I see in gvoice should be the same as the profile pix in FB.
Is there a texting app like Google Voice that allows you to receive unlimited texts with your current phone number? I essentially want to use only a data plan for texting and do not want to change my number.

When I open the contacts app (People) there is an entry for my Facebook account that says "My Contact Card" but I don't really use Facebook. All my info is in an entry in Google contacts. How can I change the default contact card?Also, this might be related. When I text with my girlfriend her picture shows up but mine does not. All contact entries for me have my picture so I'm wondering if it has to do with my default contact card.

This part of my app is completed. Now I want to ask if I choose to open the link in my custom browser how could I access that URL link. I'd like to add a custom field for contacts, that contains the contacts username on a website I'm doing this app for. Overclock Widget battery life tweak and the google talk/flickr/other battery tweaks. I'm going on 16 hours today with normal usage and the tweaks - Anyhow, yesterday and prior to that gmail and gvoice push was instant, but today and last night it's been slow and often never even comes unless I go to the app and update it manually. I do have ATK installed, but turned the auto kill to off and only use it when the bloat-sprint apps get running. So don't flame about that.Also, I changed the notification sound on each account and now I hear the set sound (quagmire app) and the android default after - when a push actually comes through.I can't find any settings that I unchecked that would make it not update as fast or at all (been back though all of them), but perhaps something else is screwy - I do have gmail and gvoice tabs open on 1 to 2 computers all day, if that would do it.And I guess I can't use data (unless it's wifi or 4G) while I'm in a phone call? Which really sucks because I like to do data related stuff while I'm talking to family and people who just blaber on and on. Miss that about my iPhone but other than that, I'm sold on android - 9 people I know got the evo already.

I got the problem that I have to implement a contact list/picker including a filtering possibility for the contacts list. That means that the standard android picker opened by an intent does not help me. So I decided to implement the list/picker on my own which is not that difficult. But I need to be able to offer the android search dialog in my own implementation as well.
So is it possible to reuse the standard contact search mechanism in an own application? (the contact search available e.g. in the default contact list) Or do I have to implement this one on my own?
Does anyone know how to do chain dialing on the droid? I found this for GVoice.

He has a cell phone and his parents have a normal phone.I put them in the same contact which maybe I shouldn't have but anyway, my cousin's cell phone is rarely on. However, in the contact list, his cell # is the default, so when I press the contact it calls him.I want to change it to my Aunt and Uncle's home tel #. How can I do that?And maybe I should make my cousin a different topic, but I have this problem with other contacts, just the default being their cell (or home) number,when I want it to be their home (or cell) number.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have all my contacts in Gmail and sync'd with facebook on my desire.Some contacts I have images in google too (which are low res as we all know).I used Facebook Sync (or fbSync) from the market to pull images from facebook and upload to Gmail.This appears to work fine.Out of the contacts that have images for facebook and google contacts, some default to using the FB image (which is what I want) and some default to google.I need google images because HulloMail VVM only uses gmail contacts so I don't get a contact image unless I have a gmail ones for my voicemails.I have tried to find a trend between the contacts that default to google and those which don't but have been unsuccessful in finding one. I have tried turning off contacts sync but also to no avail.Has anyone else had this issue, or has anyone got any idea on what could be causing this please? I've been trawling the web for too long now and can't find any reference to this issue at all.

For some, when I select them it sends an email and not a text. I have verified for those contacts that the phone number is set as default - is there something else i can do other than create 1 contact for phone and another for email?

My Custom ROM is CMW flash-able, however developer set it as different location language and CSC.
I know this can be done by changing the CSC sales code by keypad. Normally on custom ROM after flash from CMW we see the JB startup wizard to guide first time boot the phone.
My question is how do I change selectable by default? on language and location and press next to continue?
On build.prop it self I already change
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=GB
But it seem doesn't work, it always pointed to different language & region.
How are people using the contacts manager in EVO? It seems impossible to organize things logically. I can't delete the default groups ("vip", seriously?), which just clutters things up. I can't figure out how to make a folder on a home page from one of my groups. When I sync my contacts into windows, the group assignments gets lost, and I have to sync EVERYTHING, meaning my poker buddies and some chick I saw a movie with once end up on my work computer...

Yet for some reason this does not link with google,so it's not syncing my picture or details.Anybody know how I can do this?
