View 3 RepliesI love to send latitude and longitude from my Android application to open in Google Map in Android phone.
But I wonder can we do the same thing with Foursquare application? Just like send the latitude and longitude and bring Foursquare app with place around the position we send to.
What's the difference? Android and Me seems pretty excited about Gowalla, am I going to use this WITH foursquare or switch all together? I feel like all my friends are on foursquare already...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have foursquare installed and have connected it to update to twitter and facebook. but...my checkins don't post to either! i have connected and disconnected and logged out and back in on my HTC Hero and my computer. any suggestions?
View 10 Replies View RelatedShould I wait for Places to have points, badges, and rewards like Foursquare or just go for Foursquare? I hear that Places has a lot of potential to surpass Foursquare but like that guy said, it looks pretty boring. I don't want to do Foursquare and then have to start over if/when Places takes off and adds all those points, badges, and rewards.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new Wildfire about a week ago and I've been loving it, I used it in London and at home here in Norfolk with no problems until yesterday. All of a sudden my weather location changed to Sheffield.When I went into Google Maps it locked my location to be a park on the outskirts of Sheffield then after a few minutes it would find my real location. I turned off Wifi and using Wireless Networks to locate and it stopped doing that in Google Maps but wouldn't change the weather location and sometimes when I'm using Foursquare it will come up with a random list of places near Sheffield.This morning I wake up, turn on my phone and it decides it's in Aberdeen where apparently it's sunny. That's on the other side of the country and I just can't shake it off my weather gadget.

The Remotecall app in Playstore still requires me to pick up my phone in order to actually hear something..
its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)
I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question for those in the know. I am interested in purchasing an android-capable phone in the near future..I really like what it offers. My brother has a G1 (Mobile USA), which has piqued my interest in the Android platform. My question is: Is the app store synced with every kind of Android-capable phone, or just that specific phone? If I was to buy a HTC Magic, would it use the same app store as the G1? AFAIK, some other major platforms, such as Symbian do not sync, and it's 'every phone for itself', but I was thinking that Android was more synergic.

When I use the following code in Android 1.6 it displaying both phone numbers and contacts but when I use Android 2.2 it does not display phone numbers, it only displays names. String columns[] = new String[] { People.NAME, People.NUMBER, People._ID };
int tocols[] = new int[] {android.R.id.text1, android.R.id.text2};
Cursor c = managedQuery(People.CONTENT_URI, columns, null, null, null);
SimpleCursorAdapter sca = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,
android.R.layout.simple_list_item_2, c, columns, tocols);
setListAdapter(sca);
I have my HTC Desire and the Facebook application is the worst thing it should happen. It sync all my friends phone numbers and mixes with all my other phone numbers. Can some one in clear state of mind ask Android/Facebook to give us the option to select what friends we want in our phone list? I like the Facebook app but deleted it once it messes my phone!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this is usually done the other way round. My uni halls doesn't have wifi, instead it has an ethernet cable for every room. The problem with this is I'm using up my 3g internet on my phone a lot more and i'd like to do things like update my apps and check twitter more but i'm scared i'll run out. By plugging my phone into my laptop, is there a way to borrow the internet from my laptop for my phone?

I made a very simple application to start playing around with Android development. It works fine on the emulator, but it gives me the following error when I try to install it on my HTC Hero (v1.5): The application Simple Dial (process com.foo.simpledial) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (Force Close button) and on in the Eclipse console, I get the following message:

I could do with the telephone number of a text message I received but deleted without thinking!
If I could find a log then I could get the number? I'm not interested in the text itself, just the number from which it came.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhat i was thinking, was, does anyone make like a little "mini phone" that works over blue tooth?i was thinking something like that would be cool to have. leave your big x in the dock when you in the car, or on your desk, or somewhere out of harms way when you go to work, and just carry you "mini phone" with you in your pocket. make calls, and etc from it. i was thinkin something that looks like a small flip phone would be cool. have any of you guys ever seen anything like that? or think it would be useless?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI would be grateful for your well-informed suggestions.In my own naivety I purchased a Blackberry Curve, and it's next to useless to me since I don't have the web service (too expensive), it doesn't transfer *.html or *.pdf files by USB, audio transfer app is buggy, and in what it does do, it's a pain to use.I need a device to use as a PDA (calendar & tasks lists to sync with desktop software such as Outlook or similar), to read *.rtf & *.pdf documents, use *.html & JavaScript files, play audio files, take text memo notes, a simple IDE on which I can do some simple programming (preferably in Java, but another language would be ok), and use a flashcard app, such as Anki. All file transfers must be by USB.Oh, and I don't need it to have a phone at all, so some other device such as that Android iPad clone would be OK if it operates well, reliably, and will likely last at least a couple of years.I'm severely limited financially, so I need to choose the cheapest one which fulfillls these needs. I'd prefer a keyboard, but if any much cheaper with touchscreen only can fulfill these requirements, it will do. Buying a used device such as from ebay would keep the price down, but I need advice on selecting one, considering that I chose something as terrible as a Blackberry.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Android app needs to retrieve information about a contact (namely, phone number and name.) I wrote some code using getContentResolver().query() In the results, I am seeing that the name is being returned, and other information like when I last contacted that person, but not the phone number. What am I doing wrong?
The code:
Log.w("MyApp", "requesting " + phonesUri.toString());
Cursor contactCursor = context.getContentResolver().query(person, null, null, null, null);
contactCursor.moveToFirst(); for (int i = 0; i < contactCursor.getColumnCount(); i ++) {
Log.w("MyApp", contactCursor.getColumnName(i) + ": " + contactCursor.getString(i));}
Record phone calls on android phone? I tried it and use the code for recording outgoing calls but it does not.
