I use the Animated GIF Player app for GIF files, but even the Galaxy S3 failed to play a humorous North Korean GIF the other day when I browsed to the URL on my friends phone trying to show it to him.

Update: I am writing a media player plug-in for the Android WebKit browser and my plug-in needs to get the command from the web page through JavaScript (some actions like play/pause/stop/resize are issued as JavaScript commands from the browser). Apr 29, 2010I've been reading these forums for a while deciding to trade in my old dumbphone LG VX8300 on an Incredible. As a software engineer, I do lots of study before I commit. So yesterday when I get my new Incredible, I'm shocked to find out that the browser doesn't support animated GIFs! I don't care about the ones with smiley faces poking another smiley face in the eye with a stick, but most of the weather apps use animated GIFs to simulate live radar. That is one of my big uses on the old VX8300 (I do lots of motorcycle riding in the summer and want to know which way the rain is heading)The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, etc. all think they have moving radar images but none of them work. I did find RadarNow in the app store but that wasn't sufficient. I eventually found that WeatherBug Elite ($1.99) has moving radar images (they must use a different technique). I finally found a discussion over at the Android developers list of known issues Issues - android - Project Hosting on Google Code that discussed the issue. The developer has made a change for Froyo for large memory phones like the Incredible to enable animated GIFs. There is a mention of this over in the Motorola Droid forum, but with all the new folks jumping on the Incredible, I thought it might get better visibility here. So here's one thing that Droid doesn't. that the iPhone (and my ancient dumbphone, and Blackberry, and Palm, etc.) does.I just thought I'd share my experience so others can find it later.

I personally own an Android based phone running 2.1, but I can't seem to get the HTML 5 tag to work. Even when I can trigger the browser to playback the video it just throws a notification error that it can't.Are there guidelines to producing Android/HTML 5 compatible videos? Is it truly supported?

Apr 13, 2013basically I'm running FreeXperia's CM9 on my Xperia U, and it doesn't recognise/support my network (carrier) which is Virgin Mobile UK, an MVNO.
I believe this is a general issue with Cyanogenmod, my phone works but it says no service instead of the network name, it's seriously annoying. Cyanogenmod has the Virgin Mobile apns in it's apns-conf.xml, but it won't use these as it can't see that that is the network I am connected to.
Basically my phone should display:
Virgin = when using T-Mobile UK
virgin = when using Orange UK.
Instead it just says no service the whole time?
I'd like to add support rather than just use an app to change the text.
MCC - 234, MNC - 31 and MCC - 234, MNC - 32.

Apr 10, 2012One of the games that I was addicted to, for quite a while, was Airport mania 2. One of the best features about this game is that it had support for multiple users. That way, on our family tablet, I could play it, my wife could play it, and so could my daughter, and all our progress and scores were separate. This was so awesome it's hard to describe. Kind of like having an epiphany.
So the main question is, why do other uber popular games like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc not support multiple users.
Tablet are becoming more prevalent these days and most families I knew have one tablet that is shared. Not being able to separate my game scores and progress from those of other family members is really bad. I don't play most games any more because someone else in my family already does and I want to play a whole run by myself.
From a programming standpoint it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard. A separate set of stored data for each profile and a screen to let the user choose which set of data to load. However since very few games do this, I'm guessing there's more to it than that, or they just don't care..
