Is it possible to install Android in a normal mobile phone?
I have Sony Ericsson Naite which has only key pad interface (No touch). I would like to install Android in my phone for experimenting with it. It will be great if its possible to dual boot Android with Symbian :-).
Do we need any other special hardware to install operating system in a mobile phone? Will Android work on a key-pad mobile?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've accepted for a while now that it's impossible to silently install an application on Android - that is, to have a program install an application bundled as an APK without providing the standard OS installation prompt and going through the app installer activity. But now I've picked up a copy of the Appbrain fast web installer, and it does exactly this.
How on earth is this possible?
I recently released an update to my application (about a week ago).
Since then, I've had two emails from users who report that, while updating the app through Market, the installation process gets "stuck" and never finishes. This is after the application has been downloaded. They can't abort the installation.
Did anyone here have similar reports recently?
I have some ideas about running some anti-piracy measures for my app so I wondered if I could do this to sign the application on install. Running the code on first launch is no good, because someone could still copy out the apk without running it.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhi i am currently unrooted Droid X after i recently restored my phone using the 2.2 SBF. i redownloaded most of my old applications but a few of them for some reason will just not install and i just get the yellow /! mark that says "install unsuccessful" everytime. specifically angry birds and i few other paid apps do this to me and i really want to install them. i tried clearing market data and cache in settings but still did not work. so any help with this?

Since the Droid X comes with a pre-installed version of swype, does this mean that we (Droid X users) cannot install the swype beta, or is there some other workaround?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI went to the Market today and noticed Google Maps was automatically updating (I'm using Froyo 2.2 on the Moto Droid). After it downloaded, it said Installing... then it said "Installation of Google Maps unsuccessful". When I go to the app in the market itself, it says "A manual update is required." However, when browsing the "Downloads" section, there is no "Update available" next to Google Maps. all it says is "free" as if its not even installing when it is indeed installed. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I'm wondering when installing a ROM using RM, it asks if you want to do a backup and wipe before installing. I have already done a backup and don't really want to start over with a completely blank slate once Bugless is installed. Is it possible to just install a ROM without doing a wipe first? If possible, should it still be avoided to prevent issues? Basically just wondering if a full wipe is needed/recommended before installing a new ROM.

I click on the app and click install and it reinstalls onto my phone with no issues. However my youtube app doesn't fare as well. It downloads but install is always unsuccessful.
Second problem is with my speaker.
I've got the gba emulator and occasionally play some pokemon fire red. This phone I currently have is a refurb replacement. My first had a bad headphone jack. I was able to play on my first one with volume on full blast without it being all raspy, unfortunately my replacement one I currently have cannot do it past half volume.
I just installed a 2.2 (fresh, factory reset). However, I cannot seem to get the volume below vibrate. Was silent mode removed?

I'm trying to update my drivers, but when I choose my usb driver folder, it says it cannot find the drivers to be installed. What is it I'm missing? I have the SDK folder on my computer.
