Android :: Developer Phone Number Listing

Feb 26, 2010

When I first started publishing Android apps as an indie developer, I posted my phone number on the app's submission page, thinking it would not be listed publicly. When I found out that it was, I removed the number from the app listing. I don't have the resources to handle phone support, and much prefer to handle support via email. Besides, there is no requirement that we provide phone support, as long as we provide support in some way, correct? Anyway, these days I'm getting fewer phone calls, but I'm still getting calls. We are required to list a phone number in our developer profile, but it is stated that this is used for Google to contact us directly in case there are issues. So where are users still getting my phone number, and how can I make sure it's not listed?

Android :: App To Backup A Listing Of All Apps , Bookmarks And Widgets On Phone?

Dec 22, 2009

Is there an app to backup and export a listing of all the apps, bookmarks, and widgets currently on your phone? I see many apps that will search though all the current installed apps, for sorting, or organizing, but then it would be good to export this list to e-mail or Google Docs, etc.

Samsung Vibrant :: Flash For Phone - Disable Album Listing

Oct 13, 2010

Does anyone know how/when the vibrant can get flash? I've read about v2.2 supporting it, but I don't think it's out yet. If you can install flash on the Vibrant, and anyone tell me how, or direct me to a link that says how? Secondly, there's one thing that has really been irking me about the media player. The interface when the media player is vertical works great for me, but if the player goes horizontal the interface switches from a track listing to an album listing (looks like a bunch of CDs all in a row). Is there a way to disable album listing you get when the phone is horizontally? It's really annoying to pick up my media player to change the track, and have it switch to album mode and back again because I jostled it enough to make it think it was laid on its side. This is especially annoying while running on a treadmill - the back and forth motion makes it switch between modes every single time I pick it up. If anyone knows of a way to turn off the horizontal album mode, or at the very least a way to make it manually activated only, that would help me out.

I was wondering if their is a way to set up the apn or bypass it to use the phones built in wifi. Just wanna start testing my code and can't seem to get it working without having an actual service provided by AT&T.

Basic question is: Can I use the Dev phone with a sim card, implying that the sim card has no actual service.

HTC Incredible :: Google Voice Number Isn't Version Cell Phone Number

May 24, 2010

I've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.

Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.

General :: Forward Selective CID / Phone Number To External Number

Feb 15, 2012

Basically, i use my personal cell phone for work and personal use, i have multiple exchange accts that keep things sorted and seperated.

recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.

what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).

I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?

Android :: Official Update For G1 Andriod Developer Phone (ADP) Stock Firmware

Feb 18, 2009

This is my first post and I am new to Android so excuse my ignorance if this is well documented and common knowledge. I have a stock ADP, firmware 1.0, no updates no mods and of course I want to get the latest features such as voice control, latitude etc, and so begins the fun. Why is there nothing official that can be easily found which states what is going on for people that own the ADP? I must have read dozens of articles showing update procedures and claiming to have leaked OFFICIAL developer updates and only recently did i find 2 thread that eventually end with something stating there is NO official update for developer phones yet.

I have 2 gripes about this:
1. Why no official and clear statement from the development team to clarify this before people start scrambling desperately to install leaked versions that are false? (I know I almost did) 2. Why as a developer do I have to wait for features that are already available to end users?

Android :: Android Radio And Image Version For HTC Developer Phone Device

Oct 14, 2010

About the "latest" version of the Android platform vs. APIs and SDK. as far as I read in the Android web site the latest Android SDK is 2.2

I also have an HTC developer Phone, and when I go to the htc to update its firmware and Android Image (from page: http://developer.htc.com/adp.html); I found that the latest radio and recovery images are for Android 1.6

what does it mean?

1. Do I have to wait until platform 2.2 is released for HTC Dev Phone?

2. or if I have the latest 1.6 images instaled on my device it will run whatever I build using SDK 2.2.

Android :: Preferred Developer Android Phone For Using The ZXing Library

I've read some of the warnings on the FAQ for certain phones. Is there a specific phone that Android developers prefer (with use of the ZXing library in mind)? We have to buy the phone ourselves, so we would prefer not to buy the wrong phone!

Android :: Directory - Listing - Evaluating?

Nov 8, 2009

Is there an Android App directory that's commonly used when discussing, talking about, listing, evaluating Apps in this thread? Or, is there an official Android Market listing of Apps? Or another question, is the "Android Market" available the web? I've been to Android Market, but it doesn't seem to list all apps or have a search at this time; only the top paid and top free. When mentioning an App on this forum, it's be nice to hyperlink the standard market listing if there is such a standard or recommended site from this forum for consistency. For now, I'm just mentioning the name of the App - in bold font - as spelled so others can search it in the Android Market.

Android :: Market Listing My App As Exactly Twice Size Of APK I Uploaded / Why Is So?

Feb 26, 2009

For Wuzzle, the signed trial APK is 878KB and the signed full game APK is 934KB. I do have copy protection turned on for both and it did say it would increase the space needed. I figured that meant it would add an extra 10KB or something reasonable. They are listed on the market as being 1.71MB and 1.82MB respectively. I didn't think it would literally double the app size!

My other game, Light Racer has a signed APK of 288KB and is posted with no copy protection. It is listed on the market as 289KB, which is correct.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Android :: New Application Listing Order In Market Search

Sep 24, 2010

Before today, when entering a search term into the Market app, the results at the top of the search would all be exact matches of that search term against the app name. For example, type "translate" and the user will see all the apps called "translate" before the "Google Translate" result (which is by far the most downloaded translate app). Now, this no longer happens. If you type "translate" the first result is "Google Translate" (and no preference is given to exact matches).

Note: posted on this forum partly because hardly anyone reads Android Discuss, and partly because developers need to know how their apps are being prioritized in app search results).

Yet the listing at http://market.android.com/free.html#[AppName] is still the same as it was over a year ago when it launched; very old screenshots and the outdated category...
