Im looking to find a way to put a custom sound for each of my 4 email addresses. I am using k9 and cant find a spot to add or set new sound files.
Is there a way to get custom notification sounds on K9 mail? The ringtones I've created in Ringdroid don't show up in the "New mail ringtone" list under Account settings. Their default ringtone options are pretty weak. I'd like something I know I'm going to hear.

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust set my wife up with the new yahoo mail app that came out last week. Very nice that it pushes now. I can't, however, get it to make any notification sounds. She has Zedge for downloading ringtones and notification sounds and her general notification sound is set as a sound from Zedge at this time. Will yahoo only use stock sounds so it doesn't play anything? I do have the box checked to use notification sounds and vibrate in the setting.

If I click on mail and open it up I go to menu Button>more>settings>notifications but all I can do is either turn the notification on or off. I can't set an individual sound for each email acct.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Alcatel One Touch Pop C1 with Android 4.2. The internal memory has the folders /Music, /Ringtones, /Notifications and /media/audio/notifications (among others). My files are all fine oggs with a title tag at the very least.
Copying my oggs into /Music makes them show in the standard music app and they play fine. Immediately after copying them into /Ringtones, they all show up under ringtones and I can set any of them as my ringtone. However, none of it works for notification sounds. The notification sound picker has no Add button (the ringtone picker does) and the picker doesn't list anything except the default sounds (the ringtones picker shows every ogg there is). The option in the Messaging app shows the same unuseful picker. Rebooting doesn't work, having the files in any combination of the folders doesn't work.
In addition, the standard Contacts app doesn't seem to have a way to set a custom notification sound per contact (again, it does for ringtones). I'd like not only calls but also texts from certain contacts to have a custom sound.
I have only just bought my HTC desire and i am unable to change the notification sounds to anything but the default sounds in the phone. If you go to messages - menu - settings then notification sounds it only lists the ones in the handset. How does one apply a downloaded sound.

Does anyone know of a way to set notifications as different sounds. Text messages one sound and emails as another. Also I know you can change the ringtone for individual people how about text messages.

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy company only allows mobile access to corporate e-mail through WIndows phone. As an Android advocate, i prefer my own mobile device.
My only two choices are to access through my Android Chrome browser or find a way to make my Jelly-bean Android mail app look like it is a Windows phone. ...or a 3rd part mail app that looks like a Windows/windows phone mail client
I prefer the mail client route as it keeps in sync with updates.
I'm pretty new to the Android here and I just need a little nudge in the right direction I think. I have my gmail account set-up, and a hotmail account set up through the mail application, but I just got a job which provided me with my own email address.
My boss gave me the information to set it up on my phone but under protocol, I only see POP, APOP, and IMAP. He told me the "smtp mail server" so I'm guessing I'm kind of missing something. Do I need to use a different program to get my work emails? Did he not give me all the information I needed to set it up?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the forum and have a question that's been driving me crazy! I'm looking for an app like ZenMinder (for blackberry) or Notifyme2 (for iphone) where you can set a custom sound for each individual reminder. For example, if I had reminders to
"take my pills"
"pay light bill"
"pick up milk"
I could make it so that each individual reminder played a different sound. That way I wouldn't have to look at the phone to see what the reminder is but would be cued by the specific sound. I used to use Zenminder on my Blackberry and I loved it because you could custom sounds for each reminder. Is there an app like this for android users?
I was under whelmed with the email client which handles POP3 (hotmail, yahoo, verizon, etc.) accounts, and was looking for an "Outlook Mobile" type client, coming from my Moto Q. The stock client just seems to limited, aside from having some issues. Looking around, I came across the K9 Mail client and found that it was available in the Android Market. Its only been installed for a few minutes but in checking the settings/features, its much more robust than the stock client. Many more check intervals, options to set default number of messages, delete from server on delete option. The only caveat on install stated that it may have issues with Hotmail (i.e. Plus or paid accounts may have connection issues) but my basic free Hotmail came thru fine.
Text is much easier to read with the white background, black text and 2 line info display. You can also manage identities, and has more features I don't understand, and probably wont use. With my check interval at 3 hours, I sent a test message from my comcast account (not involved with DROID) just now and got some certificate error message from the program (has its own mail folder for errors), when I performed a manual check/sync. I just ran it again and the message came through. I think it may have been SMTP setting issues, but they seem resolved. Based on the the interface and options alone, I think I'll work with this app.
So one issue I am starting to have is major problems with the HTC Mail client. It does not update no matter what I set the check new mail frequency interval to. It will maybe check it once, then after that I have to manually check for e-mail. That's useless to me. I have tried re adding the account many times. I have even re set the phone back to factory settings. Notifications also work intermittently as well. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm hoping I am not alone. Should I just use the built in GMaill app? (yes it's a gmail account). What do all you guys use? Any thoughts?
