Android :: App For Custom Reminder Sounds
Oct 4, 2010
I'm new to the forum and have a question that's been driving me crazy! I'm looking for an app like ZenMinder (for blackberry) or Notifyme2 (for iphone) where you can set a custom sound for each individual reminder. For example, if I had reminders to
"take my pills"
"pay light bill"
"pick up milk"
I could make it so that each individual reminder played a different sound. That way I wouldn't have to look at the phone to see what the reminder is but would be cued by the specific sound. I used to use Zenminder on my Blackberry and I loved it because you could custom sounds for each reminder. Is there an app like this for android users?

I recently got an HTC Hero (actually a (UK)T-Mobile G2) which I think is fantastic. The only problem I have is to do with the Calendar Event Alert sound. T-Mobile supply it with this noise that is awful - it sounds like someone scraping their fingernails down a blackboard. It's horrid!
I've tried changing it by going into the Calendar then doing Menu -> Settinggs -> Reminders -> Reminder sounds and then selecting a different sounds but it's no use. I even tried removing and re-adding the Exchange account but I can't get it to stop playing that awful noise!

Is there a way to get custom notification sounds on K9 mail? The ringtones I've created in Ringdroid don't show up in the "New mail ringtone" list under Account settings. Their default ringtone options are pretty weak. I'd like something I know I'm going to hear.

I just bought an Alcatel One Touch Pop C1 with Android 4.2. The internal memory has the folders /Music, /Ringtones, /Notifications and /media/audio/notifications (among others). My files are all fine oggs with a title tag at the very least.
Copying my oggs into /Music makes them show in the standard music app and they play fine. Immediately after copying them into /Ringtones, they all show up under ringtones and I can set any of them as my ringtone. However, none of it works for notification sounds. The notification sound picker has no Add button (the ringtone picker does) and the picker doesn't list anything except the default sounds (the ringtones picker shows every ogg there is). The option in the Messaging app shows the same unuseful picker. Rebooting doesn't work, having the files in any combination of the folders doesn't work.
In addition, the standard Contacts app doesn't seem to have a way to set a custom notification sound per contact (again, it does for ringtones). I'd like not only calls but also texts from certain contacts to have a custom sound.

I know about Zedge and other programs, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it without them. I was able to put a Rintones Folder on my SD card, and they showed up in my ring tones.Sorry if this question was asked before and I missed it.

Does anyone know of a good music player app that will allow me to download the album artwork and fix song titles/artist on the fly? I'm tired of looking at the music icons. Does anyone know of a way to set notifications as different sounds. Text messages one sound and emails as another. Also I know you can change the ringtone for individual people how about text messages.

Does anyone know if there's a away to add a custom sound to the app drawer when it's opened. I have an old Apple Newton that I've recorded some of the default sounds off of and one of them is the Newtons app drawer opening and closing. It's pretty cool! I use to use my Newton for everything!! I'd like to customize my Beholds app drawer.

I have a Nexus 5. If I choose a custom notification sound in hangouts, for example, that is an .mp3 file, I would get the word "Silent" underneath the sound setting. The same goes for ringtones, but the word that shows underneath Phone ringtone in settings would be "None". I've tried putting the file under the Ringtone folder and it still wouldn't work. How do I get custom sounds to work on KitKat/Nexus 5? It can be set all the way up and nothing would happen.

How would one go about doing this with a Droid 2? I'm trying to add them so I can set ringtones for individual contacts, so when they call, I know who is calling me. I have tones already picked out and saved to my Gmail account. I thought I would be able to set them from there, but it turns out that's not possible. I used to be able to do this on my LG Chocolate.I had sent the tones I wanted using a service called Mobile17.

I have a Droid Bionic. I like it. But I was recently having some GMail syncing issues and during the troubleshooting for that I uninstalled the latest GMail update and reinstalled it. As a result, GMail is now doing audible notificatrion sounds for new email when before I only had notification in t he notification bar. I can't seem to get it turned off. I still want calendar events and texts to sound so I don't want to silence the phone but I want email and GMail to be silent (Notification icon only).

I've been looking high and low for a reminder application for my needs. This is what i'm looking for.ones that I see only sound off once, and if you if your away from your phone or could not hear the nofication, it only warns you once. Too bad if you didn't get it. Or at least play for 15 seconds and then warn again every 2, 3, or 5 mins till the users CONFIRM that they received the message.

I have tried a couple but non of them have done just what I am looking for. What I want is an app where I can enter something for a certain day and I get a notification that day so I can just touch the notification after it is completed. Kind of like a task list but in the notification bar and I can set tasks that need to be done on a certain day.

Not sure if this can be done without an additional app. But does anyone know if there is a way to set a daily reminder? I appreciate any assistance. Ideally I can just set it and forget it and not have to set it every day.

Have you already see new Android application for mobile telephones Blister?
It is a very useful application. For example, I always forget to take vitamins in time. And I think a lot of you faced with this problem. This app reminds you to take vitamins and pills in time. In my opinion its an excellent idea!
Blister has extremely easy-to-use interface. Comfortable and logical location of buttons and other elements of control enables to enter information about a course in simple way. It doesnt need to press great number of different buttons nervously. There is no unnecessary thing. All you need are: name and number of pills, days and time for taking it. In my opinion, its worth to add field for notes such as take this pill during a meal, take a lot of water with it, etc.
In whole Blister impresses me favorable. Yes, there are some bugs, but they are miserable, and I hope developers to correct them. So, Id installed Blister on my phone and Im glad!
