What is the simplest way to draw pixels, lines and circles on a View?I want to move a cross cursor around, so nothing particularly intensive.I thought I could extend SurfaceView and add it to an XML and it would just work, but it just appears black, however, when I look at the layout view of localmap.xml in eclipse, the graphics appear as expected. Any ideas? My onDraw is never called on the emulator, and even calling invalidate on the class makes no difference. I shall keep trying but can anyone see anything I've missed? or is there a better way entirely? Code...

I'm trying to make a timeout gauge bar animation effect:The width of a lengthy colorful bitmap image is decreasing, but not x-scaling.so the image looks not changing and the visible area shrinks.I couldn't find the sole ImageView clipping or masking support in android.then changing the shrink_box's width will clip the portion of the still_image.But I failed to change the width of the view smoothly.I tried to change the LayoutParam.width in applyTransformation() but got an Exception, it seems not allowed. How can I make an Animation that changes the width of the view. OR is there a proper method to achieve the above effect?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a listview in my App which shows perfectly in Portrait mode. But when I change orientation to landscape, sometimes the width remains as that of Portrait mode. Even the scrollbar for the list comes at the center and remaining part of the screen remains blacked out. This happens only with the list view. Other views show perfectly. I have designed the layouts such that the Portrait layouts look feel proportionate in landscape mode. I want to avoid restarting the activity so I have not put the layouts in the landscape folder. I tried invalidating the listview in onConfigurationChanged() but of no use. When I navigate in the list in landscape mode, the width automatically gets adjusted.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am rendering a ListView inside a dialog. The ListView elements are very simple TextView objects. The problem: whatever I do, they never take the full width in the list view, which has the side effect that the list view selector only covers the actual text, not the whole list entry (i.o.w., if the text of the entry is much smaller than the width of the listview/dialog, then only a tiny portion of the list element is highlighted when focusing it).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a layout xml file with a linear layout. One of the children is again a ViewGroup Relative layout. In my java code i want to change the width of this child Viewgroup for my requirements. I tried this
ViewGroup childViewGroup = (LinearLayout)findViewById(childViewGroup);
LayoutParams l = childViewGroup.getLayoutParams();
l.width = 360;
childViewGroup .setLayoutParams(l);
I couldn't do this because findViewById(childViewGroup) doesn't fetch ViewGroups it does only for Views. Note: I cant define a whole new layout.xml for this minor requirement since it is huge layout file and might cause performance overhead. I wanted to just change the width of the child view group in my java activity code.
I'm trying to convert my LinearLayout to a bitmap so that I can save the current layout content as an image in SD card. First, I create bitmap and canvas and attach the layout to the canvas.
Followed steps from http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/google-android/articles/30676.aspx#comments.
Code to add child view into layout before creating bitmap:
CODE:............
When I press the save button, it should save the current layout as an image to SD card.
Here are my steps:
CODE:...............
It can create folder in SD card but no file created under this folder. It always gives me FileNotFoundException. I'm not sure it is the file creating problem or the screenBitmap problem.
I'm creating 3GP videos with the Android - however, when the 3GP files are posted on a site, the same Android phone cannot view it back. (The file works on the iPhone).
What is right way to encode/resize the 3GP video so that the video player on Android can play it back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI will try to explain what exactly I need to do.
I have 3 separate screens say A,B,C. There is another screen called say HomeScreen where all the 3 screens bitmap should be displayed in Gallery view and the user can select in which view does he wants to go.
I have been able to get the Bitmaps of all the 3 screens and display it in Gallery view by placing all the code in HomeScreen Activity only. Now, this has complicated the code a lot and I will like to simplify it.
So, can I call another Activity from HomeScreen and do not display it and just get the Bitmap of that screen. For example, say I just call HomeScreen and it calls Activity A,B,C and none of the Activities from A,B,C are displayed. It just gives the Bitmap of that screen by getDrawingCache(). And then we can display those bitmaps in Gallery view in HomeScreen.
I hope I have explained the problem very clearly.
Please let me know if this is actually possible.
I created a custom background image and wanted to use it as the background for a layout that has height of wrap_content. However, the total height of the contents of within that layout are much less than the height of the background image.
When I set it as the background in XML via android:background="@drawable/image", I noticed that it displays the entire height of the image, although the height of the actual contents are much shorter.
I need to have a linear Layout whose height is wrap_content, but how can I specify a child of this linear layout to stretch to its parent?
I tried... some other children ...
But this does not work. The image does not scretch.
I have a two column TableLayout as the only child of a scroll view. The first column contains TextViews ('labels') and the second column contains EditText/Spinner/DateWidget etc ('values').
Even though I have have specified android:layout_width="fill_parent" for TableLayout, TableRow & all widgets (in 'values' column).
The screen looks perfect when the activity is created. However, when one types a really long value in the EditText, the 'values' column goes beyond the visible screen area.
I was wondering which resolution I should convert my videos to in order to be able to view them in full screen on the X8?

How can I get the body (second EditText) to fill the rest of the screen, but still have the scrollview kick in when the contents of the body are too long? Like a height="wrap_content" and minHeight="fill_parent"
layout_height="fill_parent" seems to not do anything if you put them in a scrollview

I tried this and the EditText elements act like they are wrap_content and no filling is happening. Just scrolling if you type enough

I have a Gallery with a set of images that was downloaded at run time.I followed the example here:http://www.anddev.org/a_androidwidgetgallery_-_example-t332.html but instead of using i.setImageResource(this.myImageIds[position]);I used i.setImageBitmap(bitmaps.get(position));This doesn't fill the entire width of the screen, only as much as the width specified here:i.setLayoutParams(new Gallery.LayoutParams(150, 150)); When I increase this number, the item scales with it instead of showing more images per the example. I've even tried to scale the images before adding them to the set. Not sure what I'm missing, or where other examples of this might be. Any help would be great.

In ActionScript development, there are two classes, Bitmap, and BitmapData. Bitmap uses information from BitmapData to create a Bitmap. Is there an equivalent to BitmapData in the android API? I did some digging and BitmapFactory seems to be the closest, however, I'm facing problems with it.
I tried Bitmap bitmap = BitmapFactory.decode Resource(getResources(), R.drawable.buster);
As that was what I was seeing in most of the examples I came across, but it is telling me that the method getResources is undefined. I'm not really sure what is causing this as in another tutorial I did, getResources didn't cause any problems.
I'm not looking to simply draw a bitmap to the screen, I want to copy a section of the bitmap and place it on a new bitmap. In ActionScript, the method is bitmapData.copyPixels(), and I'm looking for a similar method in the Android API. The closest thing I could find was copyPixelsToBuffer(), but I'm not really sure if that does what I think it does.
