Are there any android focused tutorials for developing a plugin for the browser? I can find examples for webkit plugins but I want to try developing a plugin that will access resources on the phone so there is more to it than generic webkit requirements. Also, after compiling a plugin how can I install it into the browser on my phone?

I've installed the Android SDK and the ADT plugin, but Android doesn't show up in the Window>Preferences dialog.I'm running Galileo. If I go to the Installation Details part of the About Eclipse dialog, it says that I have 0.9.6 of Android DDMS and Android Development Tools. I can run adb from the command line. I tried going around the uninstall/reinstall loop once.I'm on Windows Vista. I also have 2.7.7 of the Scala plugin installed, but I tried uninstalling that.

View 22 Replies View RelatedI have a problem installing the ADT plugin in Fedora's version of Eclipse. I'm not sure it is a problem with the plugin, it's probably more Fedora's team fault (they heavily personalized and modified eclipse in Fedora's repository).
I installed the version of Eclipse that is included in Fedora's official repos, which is based on version 3.4.2 build 20090211-1700. I've followed the step-by-step instruction provided in Android's website. The problem arises when I go into the Help -> Software updates window. When I select the two plugins to install, it lets me install the DDMS, but not the Developer Tools. If i try (select Developer Tools then click Install) it gives me the following error message (after calculating space and dependencies):

At first, I thought I had not installed some packages (org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu and/or org.eclipse.wst.sse.core), so I opened YumEX and searched for those pacckages... but they are not available in Fedora's repositories.
When I try to install the Android plugin for Eclipse on MacOS X (Leopard) I get the error:
Cannot create tempfile for site.xml
Permission denied
I'm not sure what persmissions the system is referring to. I have set this up on a Linux distro with no trouble at all.
I'm having a lot of difficulty installing the ADT plug in under Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo)... I have tried both http and https access to the Eclipse update site, and in both cases I get the following errors:

I found a post (http://tinyurl.com/yc2cr28) where removing/re-adding the source URL in Eclipse is also recommended. This didn't help the "No repository found" errors.
Has anyone else experienced/resolved this issue? I am running the "Eclipse for Java Developers" from Eclipse.org, and the Sun Java 5 JDK.
I get vshare.tv popup saying that vshare plugin is not compatible with my browser and only i.e. or firefox works and reads select one to install. So, I click on one to download but nothing happens. How to bypass this?

1. Put the apk file in the main directory of your sdcard. Rename it to something very short for easy typing. In this example, I will use "fm.apk".
2. Boot your device. Goto Security Settings and check "Unknown Sources".
3. Open your internet browser. In the address bar type "file:///sdcard/<filename>.apk". (Without the double quotes of course).In our example above it should look like this: file:///sdcard/fm.apk
4. Press "Go". That's it! Installation started!
After I rooted phone I deleted apps I did not think I would use including the browser. I did not however think all the way through the process and of course now the search key does not work. I like using that key for work.
Can someone help me re-install? I asume all I need is the apk file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe last couple of weeks, my app is very slow compiling changes when the resources are modified in the project. Doesn't matter if it's strings or layout. Sometimes it takes as long as 30 seconds for the changes to apply. Compiling just the .java files are as fast as ever.
I used to have slowdowns after I having Eclipse open for the whole day, but restarting Eclipse always fixed that. Not this time. All my Eclipse and Android software is up-to-date. Has anyone experience this or have any suggestion as to what could be causing this and a fix? It's really cutting into my productivity.
I am going mad trying obfuscating my projects on Netbeans and it's not reasonable at the moment for me to switch to Eclipse I need a command line script that let me build and obfuscate my APK. Is there some example script, or some tutorial that could help me in this "intent"?
View 24 Replies View RelatedWhile compiling android project in eclipse 3.4.2, am getting The project cannot be built until the build path errors are resolved. I got a temporary solution from the blog http://www.scottdstrader.com/blog/ether_archives/000921.html
The resolution was to force a resave of the selected projects (and their .classpath files):
Open the project properties
Select Java Build Path > Libraries
Add a new, arbitrary library (to be deleted later) > OK
Wait for the workspace to refresh (or force a refresh of the project)
The error(s) will go away
Remove the dummy library
The only other references I could find were to make minor alterations of contents of the .classpath file.
