Is there an App or mod that will close the dialer when ending a call? It'sa pain to have to close the dialer, then the contacts after a call to get back to the home screen.
I know there was a mod made for this on WinMo devices as well as WebOS.

Since the time I have upgraded to KitKat- I have been facing the issue of Call History. Every Time I miss a Call and I click on the name/number- Its asks me to select a default option of whoch way to open that entry , that is, through Dialer or through History. I tried selecting history and clicked on the "always use this option" but the same thing kept happening every time. After a few tries, I chose the other option and did the same thing and it again kept appearing... It looks like there's a bug in this and it never really saves my preference.

This literally happens to me EVERY time I try to use it, it didnt always do this so I'm not exactly sure when it started. I've done the normal reboot etc, does anyone have a fix/reset for this thing?
I get another call while I am on the phone. Go to answer the other call let them know I will call them back later...other caller hangs up and then the call just hangs there in dead air. So now both of my lines are occupied while I am only talking to 1 person.PLEASE let me know if there is a fix to this issue because it is a big deal for me. If there is no fix I might have to return the EVO for another phone honestly, its essential for my line of work.

And the App crashes without the standard crash dialog.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to write a convenience app that needs to bring up the active dialer for a connected call, but I'm having issues after trying a couple of approaches.
ACTION_DIAL - I've tried starting a new dialing activity and while this brings up a new dialer, it's not connected to the existing call so pressing buttons on the new dialer produces no dial tones on the receiver's end.
ToneGenerator - Created my own little dialer activity and hooked up ToneGenerator calls in response to button clicks, but then found out that it only generates tones in the dialer's earpiece and not on the receiver's side.
So... Is there any way to programmatically send dial tones to an active call? Any way to bring up the dialer of the active call and not the dialer for a new call?
I can not find a way to enter my voicemail password for the Call Voicemail button on the phone dialer. I have the password set in the voicemail settings and it works fine from contacts and by voice command. Where does this button get set from?

My application accesses the db not so frequently, but some, it depends on user requests. I think I should open the db at the onCreate, and close it at the onDestroy. Is that a good practice?

I own an xperia mini pro and I can replicate the issue always now. When I get an incoming call while the screen is off, if you slide out the keyboard (without opening the screen lock), immediately I get a Force close error for com.android.phone. I have Lookout Mobile security along with SayMyName installed. I have tried removing both, but the problem does not seem to go off. I am using Zeam as my home screen. On FC, SayMyName continues to call out the caller (or number if its not recognized), but the phone application crashes and on closing the FC pop up, the GSM mobile connection reinitiates (I am not in 3G).
Its just like when you switch on the phone after a shutdown. I have even tried changing home screen (ADW same problem), but seems like this issue persists. The problem is I keep my phone in a pouch attached to my belt and when I get a call, many times while bringing out the phone, the sliding of the keyboard happens and I get an FC. Then, there is no way to make out who had called and its very irritating (the call log does not register the call due to the FC).
Can I delete the stock dialer app if I install and download Dialer One?

We want to know how we can disable the default dialer so that it doesn't listen for missed calls, incoming calls and also it doesn't gets launched by other application for making calls instead our application gets launched. Only our dialer application should be listening on it. We want to use same format as existing content URIs supported by default dialer in our own dialer application. Is this possible? View 11 Replies View RelatedI use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
So my wife bought me a bluetooth headset (we have a hands free law starting in Ontario next month) and I finally got around to trying the default "Voice Dialer" app.Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this isn't really a voice dialer. The app is _called_ voice dialer, but you can actually use it to search your phone for _anything_.When I try to use it to call someone, I say "Call Patricia". It pops up a box that asks if i want to call her work number or mobile number. At this point there doesn't seem to be any way to choose an option by _voice_, instead you have to actually press one of the options on screen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the HEAD revision of the Voice Dialer from GIT (used the web interface) but there are so many errors and I have no idea how to fix them.I did the same thing for the 3D Gallery and that turned out fine. But the Voice Dialer is a completely different story.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a google voice number and i installed google voice on my droid with android 2.2 but it dosnt do what I want it to do.I want a dialer that is only used to make calls from my google voice number. I know you can setup google voice to:
-to make all calls from GV
-to make only international calls from GV
-make no calls from GV
-ask if you want to use GV (before every call)
I dont want any of these. I want my normal dialer to use my normal number and whenever I want to make a call from GV I want to click on an APP and have a dialer appear and any calls from that dialer are made with the GV number.my BB worked this way. I would click on GV and then start dialing and it made the call with GV.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) and a Galaxy S4 Google Edition (GT-I9505G). Both unlocked and rooted.
With JB 4.2.2, the native SIP dialer has always worked very well and I could place and receive calls (using my own Asterisk PBX server) without problems.
With the new JB 4.3 OTAs now, whenever I place or receive a call, the incoming audio is perfect but the outgoing voice sounds terrible: choppy and noisy to a point where the people on the other side can hardly understand what I'm saying.
I flashed both units back to JB 4.2.2 and the problem went away, no matter the configuration or the apps installed. Conversely, I can always replicate the problem with JB 4.3, clean setup, no additional apps or services.
