I have friends that have iphones and I was wondering if there are any other apps that are compatible with eachother, only one I know of is "bump". I'm not talking about apps that are both available for each, but apps where you can play games with eachother, GPS locators ect.

Has anyone tried they galaxy with "iPhone compatible" earphones?I've tried the Klipsch s4i and they did not really work with my phone. The sound would be 'hollow' unless you held the middle button (call answering button) on the earphones. Is this an OS limitation?I just bought UE triple.fi 10vi, and I'm wondering if they would work.. they are kind of costly.. so.. I'm just hoping that the s4i was an odd-off case.

But let's be honest at the end of the day it's really not true, and now coming from being a previous iPhone owner and now a Droid owner i can honestly say, the iPhone app market wins by a TON.
This is just a general QUALITY of apps comparison as well.
NO i'm not switching back... but man do i miss the iPhone apps...
Especially facebook.. and others..
You can REALLY tell the difference between the quality of iPhone apps vs Android,
So why am i starting this thread?.. Well i'm hoping maybe a developer could chime in and enlighten us on why this is...
Things i'm curious about-
Is programming in android worse then in the iPhone OS? is that why apps are WAY less in quality?
And you can't give the excuse that it's because things are new, when the iPhone market came out the apps were quality at day 1, many of them were.
So what's the difference? i guess software...
Well i'm sticking with android even though this exists.. in hopes that maybe future Android OS updates and SDK's will improve this very obvious difference.. right now i'm not impressed at all... the apps are all Slow, and they look horrible.
And for twitter? holy crap... iPhone owners back me up here, but the iPhone twitter apps are lightyears ahead of android twitter apps.
Just take a look at Tweetdeck for iPhone, and compare to to what i guess is the best android twitter app, twidroid?
Compare those and you'll see what i'm talking about.
When you root your hero and load a Rom, is the android market and all the apps still compatible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHave somewhat limited exposure but what I do have on Android Apps is not positive.The Apple Apps store is far superior to what you get with AppBrain and Market.The Android Apps always give a very vague and sketchy description, next to impossible to get details of what it does.I bought Bettercut and Cashbook - Expense Tracker, both sucked in a big way.Already uninstalled both.The open architecture of Android is a great concept and I love my DroidX.I hope the apps come along soon to make the whole thing complete.

2. Are android apps compatible with all android devices? I've heard that Archos 5 doesn't support all android apps and the Camangi device has its own app market (Camangi Market - Apps). Would apps from the official android market work on any android device? What's the point of Camangi having it's own app market?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried modifying build.prop to show as a Nexus S and a I9300 and device(Mele A2000 media player) does show as the modified model but still showing the App I'm trying to install as incompatible, and btw the App I'm trying to install is USB/BT Joycenter that I bought and does work for my I9300, so is there anything else I need to edit to get this working?

Believe it or not, i still have 1 or 2 friends that havent converted to the evo and are still using that old iphone thing. Would love to kill em in words with friends but i know thats not for android (yet).

This is very pathetic, obviously written by an iPhone fanboi. When you get to the multitasking part watch how he can only switch between 4 very small apps and that's all he does.
I just wanted to check, e.g. on my Hero I can run GPS Tracker and press home and it will run in the background, play some music and press home and it will run in the background and go and do something else.
Are you saying the iPhone would have to completely exit the GPS Tracker to use another app or leave the GPS Tracker open and not do anything else for it to work?
I have read the documentation on "supporting multiple screens" but can't seem to figure it out. I mean, i understand that resolution effects it but it just doesn't make sense to me that the droid and the T-Mobile G1 both use the regular "layout" directory. I developed the app on a droid and got everything to work but there is one view that i need to use hard-coded pixels.....which im using dpi. Now when installing the app on the G1 things on that view are getting cut off because the G1 has a much smaller screen. If I redo it to work on the G1 then everything is all squished together on the droid and even tho everything is visible this way, it looks silly.
I tried using the different attributes in my manifest but that didn't help but since i'm using minSDK as 4, the support different screen size attributes are true by default anyway.
Am i missing something very simple and obvious or is it just the way it is?? Isn't the physical screen size of the G1 like an 1" smaller?? I'm still kinda new to Android development so forgive me if i am missing something simple.

I really like the performance I'm getting now that I'm rooted but Pandora is a must have for me - so if I can't get it fixed I'll have to go back to stock - BOO. Does anyone know of a ROM that gives the same audio quality as the stock 2.1 OS? Or does anyone know if I'm maybe just doing something wrong?

The basic workflow is: to sign up,a user provides a phone number; the app calls a backend webservice which generates a signed URL and sends it to the phone number via an SMS gateway; the user receives the SMS, clicks the link, and is thus verified and logged in. This results in a very strong user identity that is difficult to spoof yet fairly easy. It can be paired with a username or additional account attributes as needed for the product requirements.Despite the advantages, this does not seem to be in much use - hence my question. My initial assumption is that this is because products and users are wary of asking for / providing phone numbers, which users consider sensitive information. That said, I hope this becomes an increasingly more commonplace approach.
