Running Apps to SD.

I'm running AppsToSD with this procedure:
http://www.coolpstutsite.com/Other_Tutorials.html
With a 8 gb class 4 card. I created a 500 mb EX2 partition. Using AppsToSD, I moved all applications, but not the cache, as I have been advised that the class 4 sd could have slowdown issues moving the cache as well. I have about 45 apps on the phone. The available internal memory is sitting at 16 mb available. Does this sound about right? It seems low to me.

Motorola Droid :: Applications Moved To SD Card - Phone Responding Slow

Oct 1, 2010

So with the last few ROMs I've had installed, I've tried moving apps to the sdcard. I figured it would be a good thing, even if I wasn't running out of room. Every time I move more than just a few apps to the sdcard, my whole phone starts getting laggy. I just moved all of my apps back to phone and the "lagginess" is gone. I currently have UD8.0 installed, but it has behaved this way with LFY and Pete's BB ROMs as well. So it doesn't seem to be a ROM related.

Android :: On Board Memory For Installing Applications?

Oct 5, 2010

As a soon to be former BB user (and hopeful Android newbie), I know the limitations of decreased On Board Memory (I'm not talking about RAM but rather the memory that apps are stored on). I notice some phones have as much as 8 GB and some high end phones only coming with 2 GB (and after the OS and bloat is installed it gets reduced to 300-400 MB). Is this a concern with an android device. I understand that phones can be rooted and bloat ware removed, but taking that out of the equation, should I be concerned with buying a phone with just 2 GB of On Board memory for apps?

Motorola Droid X :: Applications In Internal Memory And Android Folders

Oct 17, 2010

Couple of questions regarding internal memory and the Android folders. I have over 125 apps on my phone, but I have hardly put a dent in my internal memory space. So my questions are:
1) Why is it helpful to move apps to SD if they take up such little space?
2) If I want to put *data* in internal memory (possible?), or in an Android local folder *not* on the SD card, where is the best place to put it?

HTC Incredible :: Lot Of Applications Not Work With Internal Memory?

Jun 6, 2010

I know a lot of apps using microsd for storage. I am not talking about the app themself I know they are limited to the storage in ROM I am just talking about data the app reads/write. I was searching why my maps weren't working with the weather channel app and found this thread:
http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/71829-weather-channel-radar-not-working.html

Also tried to download and use Epicurus and it crashes every time (thinking it stores usage data on your MicroSD. I'm theorizing because I don't have a microsd card in my phone and maybe a lot of apps have trouble using the incredible internal 8GB of memory? Thinking on buying a 8GB MicroSD card just for this.

HTC Wildfire :: Low Internal Memory / Trying To Move Applications To SD

Nov 11, 2010

This is extremely annoying since I have a new 32GB memory card class 6. There's about 11mb of internal memory on the phone left and I have tried to move applications to memory card but some don't have this feature. I have used swapper2 but this only makes the problem worse. I have a rooted HTC Wildfire mobile with the WildPuzzel rom installed.

Low on memory and the phone is slowing down and is becoming unresponsive some times. Completely ridiculous how the device comes with only 500mb of internal memory, since this is a smart phone/computer that's not very smart. Is there a method to use the memory card as internal storage space or as ram. As mentioned I used the swapper2 programme with no success. Any other hacks, I have tried over clocking but don't want to use this. I want to address the issues of low memory.

I have some games that take up about 20mb of ram:
galigochaser 18.7mb
hungry shark 11mb
speed forge 7.3mb

Just an example of application that I would like to move but the feature is not built in the application.

HTC Incredible :: Memory Leak / No Applications Running

May 3, 2010

When I first boot up the phone and check the memory (after shutting down all the apps I don't want running) I notice my phone has about 220-250 MB free after leaving the phone on for about 2-3 hours, with no activity on my part, that number gets smaller and smaller. I just rebooted my phone again because it was down to 125 MB free with no applications running.

Also, "Android System" is consuming 65% of my battery life. I realize that number is inaccurate after a fresh reboot so I played with the phone for a good 4 hours running apps and such, so that I could get a good test of how much the OS is eating up in comparison to other apps. 65% is a bit much no?

HTC Desire :: How Many Applications Can Be Installed On Internal Memory Without Rooting?

May 13, 2010

I am getting a Desire next week. How many apps you can install on the internal memory without 'rooting' it? I'll probably install a lot of apps when I get mine next wednesday (I already have made a list of over 30!) and I would really like to avoid rooting it as it will probably void the warranty and I am not sure I could do it anyway - even after reading the step by step guide a few times over. How many apps have you all managed to fit in before getting the memory low message that some have reported?

HTC Desire :: Can Applications Be Stored In MicroSD Instead Of Internal Memory?

Apr 1, 2010

The HTC Desire has limited memory of around 570Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The MicroSD card can hold up to 32Gb. So, why can't HTC allow apps be stored in MicroSD card? If HTC/Google's concerned about piracy issues, i.e. copies of apps from microSD card to another microSD card, etc. There is one way round to this problem: They could have installed some kind of unique crypto-key within the Desire's ROM, and any apps saved to the microSD card are automatically encrypted on-the-fly with this crypto-key.

When apps are accessed, it is decrypted on-the-fly, too. In other words, apps will ONLY work with THAT phone it shares the SAME crypto-key. Putting a microSD card containing apps into another Android phone will not work, thus solving the piracy issue. Therefore, a message to HTC: Please allow apps to microSD card (as much as 32Gb card) and BEAT iPhone/Nokia N900 at their game!

Now why is this? I still have about 11MB of storage on the phone. 2:Why is there not more in built memory especially if the makers knew ALL applications and games would be installed to the phone? isn't it obvious that should have allowed support to install directly to SD card (like with me old nokia E51?) 3:When is this new Android update coming to the Desire, how do you go about getting it?

HTC Wildfire :: Internal Memory / Limited Space To Store Applications

Oct 12, 2010

Been thinking of getting a wildfire, it looks like a good phone for the price range I'm in. However today I've read something about the HTC desire that it suffers with a lack of internal memory and this limits the amount of apps available you can store on it (because you cannot store onto SD card) Does the wildfire have the same problem as this, and if it does will it be rectified with the release of froyo?, or is there anyway around it? It seems a shame to have all these apps available on the Android Market but only a limited space to store them on.

Motorola Droid :: Applications Live In 256MB Internal Memory Only

Nov 16, 2009

It was too bad to hear about the fact that the Applications live and function within the Droid's 256MB of internal memory instead of utilizing all of the micro-SD space that the phone can have. This really hurts the Droid's ability to compete with the iPhone on things like handheld gaming since programs have to stay very small in order to not take up all your phone's space.

Games can get quite large. I had an old Palm V back in the day, and I do recall being able to eventually run applications off of the SD card. This was nice. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think there will be apps that allow Droid to run apps off of the SD card?

HTC Desire :: Internal Memory - Battery Life - Apple Applications - Average Size Of Application?

Aug 27, 2010

I want to buy the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S. At the moment I prefer the HTC Desire. It's smaller, feels better and has flash which the Samsung lacks. But when I read the fact that the HTC Desire is very limited in internal memory for installing apps and the fact that you can't transfer a lot of apps to your sd card with the help of the froyo 2.2 update got me thinking again about which phone I should pick. I don't want to buy the phone and later regret that I don't have enough space for apps. That's not the only thing that is bothering me. So I want to ask a few questions.

1: What is the average number of apps you can install on the internal memory (so without SD card) of the HTC Desire if you installed update 2.2?
2: Let's say I use internet 2 hours a day, watch movies, listen to music 2 hours a day and also call people 1 hour and send a few text messages. If I do this everyday will I have to charge my battery everyday or will it last longer?
3: Can you install apple apps on HTC desire?
4: What is the average size of an application?
