Android :: Application To Exchange Files Between My Tattoo - A PC Through WiFi
Feb 14, 2010
It would be useful for me to have an application to exchange files between my Tattoo and a PC through WiFi.
I was thinking about something standard, like FTP or Windows file sharing.
Do you know if an app like this is existing ?

Anybody know an app that can control what to sync, and what not to sync on a WiFi network. I would like my hero only to sync exchange when at work.

I'm trying to play around with the wifi settings on the Tattoo. Other threads suggest that there are some advanced settings under wifi settings, I can't find these on my Orange UK Tattoo. Is this another of Orange's helpful modifications (still smarting at their gmail app trick).

My girlfriend has just taken out a contract and received an HTC Tattoo. Unfortunately neither of us can get it to make a reliable Wifi connection, if at all. It's so bad that she's on the point of taking it back. Has anyone else any experience of the Wifi ability of these? I've tried changing the channel the base station is using, turning off the security (I usually use WPA2-Personal, which it seems to understand, and as I say occasionally connects to) and moving to all sorts of positions around the router (a Lynksys WAG54G2).Neither my N95, nor either of our laptops have any problem connecting to the Wifi.

I just purchased a new HTC tattoo , i am unable to send emails using the active exchange account. I Can receive emails, calendar and contacts, but no luck on sending--items just sit in the outbox without error message. My work's exchange server requires 4 digit pin to allow full functionality. Unfortunately Device does not prompt for the pin. need help in fixing this.

Use mail exchange and works great but has a small, but my big problem, can not receive (open) attachments, hours and hours spent I am hoping that I'll fail to find an answer but nothing. It is interesting that the attachment can be sent without a problem, but not receive. The incoming mail click on the download attachments on it apparently does not take it but not on an SD card or the device. I am hoping that the problem could possibly solve the master reset the device does the same and in the end we create an even bigger problem ... now can not even set up mail or use a browser, entering the same does not happen is absolutely nothing! tried to erase the memory of browser and other features, but nothing goes the better!

im trying to exchange some files in /system/framework of a stock jellybean 4.2.1 rom that came with my nexus 10.
I have built a workin rom from AOSP sources and made little adjustments that are present in /system/framework/services.jar and services.odex
I have built full_manta-user (not -userdebug!) so that the rom gets odexed and matches my stock rom.
The problem is i get stuck in a boot loop when i use my services.odex file on my stock rom. Is there a way to make it work or debug it?

I have downloaded free software and games to put on my HTC Tattoo. How do I go about getting those files on my phone. Do I extract them first to my computer and then put it on the sd card, and where do I put the files in the sd card. Have tried all the files but do not see the application on my phone. I even tried HTC sync but with no success. I am new to the android phone, before that I was a Nokia and Sony Ericsson fan, but got convinced to get a HTC from my brother in law. His got the HTC HD and loves it.

Ive read the specification sheet of the HTC Tattoo, and realized this feature:Java MIDP 2.0 - Yes
Then my question is, why cant I install .JAD nor .JAR files?
- ASTRO keeps opening the file, as some sort of text editor, and when uninstalling ASTRO, the phone tells me that its an unknown file type.I mean, if the phone supports Java MIDP 2, then it should be able to recognize the Java files... right?!

My sim card has been blocked on the ATT side from using data (company pays for our wireless on the condition that data is blocked). That said, I have been unable to use Android Market at all because of it. At least, that's what I think the problem is. I know my sim is not data provisioned but shouldn't Android Market work over wifi exclusively?

my newly bought Tattoo became unbootable a few days ago.It worked perfectly fine two days ago, then it started to randomly reboot itself, but after that, it became completely unbootable, as in, it was stuck at the "TATTOO" screen. The phone internals are completely untouched, no custom images, not rooted, no nothing, it's factory fresh. The battery is full too, and I didn't install anything that could possibly have corrupted the bootloader (or whatever is failing to load).I already tried to wipe the user data _TWICE_ (using HOME + BACK + POWER) with no success. I'm also perfectly able to get into HBOOT (using VOLDOWN + MENU + POWER), and connect via usb (using "FASTBOOT USB" from HBOOT). However, I can't completely wipe the cache with fastboot.exe from the android-sdk, since it doesn't allow it: "erasing 'cache'... FAILED (remote: not allow)".

I'm having trouble connecting my tattoo to my home Wifi. I have seen similar posts to this one, but as of yet, no resolution.
I can connect to my Wifi at my uni address with no problems, so it is obviously a fault with the wireless rather than the phone.
The phone asks for the WEP password which I put in correctly, it then says "obtaining IP address" only to return with 'unsuccessful' or 'disconnected' - which may indicate that there is some security that is stopping the phone connecting?

I've wasted 30 min of life trying to send files to my tattoo then i google and read one message on this forum WHY? why why why? what were they thinking of? in my past experience, i've found motorola phones to have some really really dumb illogical ways of doing things! this is my first htc phone i was liking it so far but this bluetooth thing is winding me up! question: what's the best way of getting a file transferred. I was trying to transfer a pdf - assuming in advance that I'll be able to read pdfs!

I recently bought a HTC Tattoo. And I like to access internet on Tattoo using PC broadband connection. I have ASUS motherboard with inbuild WiFi support. So, using that I have made my WiFi of PC to Access Point Mode. So, now I am able to connect to PC using that WiFi network. But I am unable to access internet. Can anyone suggest me the way to share my PC internet to my HTC Tattoo to save money when we are at home.

I have just started doing some Android development. One of the things that I would like to add to the app the I'm working on, is data exchange between a desktop computer and an android phone. Think of it like syncing data between Microsoft Outlook and the phone when it is connected to the wifi network. (Stanza on the iPhone is another good example)
The application that is running on the desktop is written in C# (to make it more interesting ;-)). I'm trying to avoid using a WebService, since this requires something like IIS.
Are there any libraries that can help me with this, or is it simple enough to do using the Java Socket functionalities?

I've had my HTC Desire since last Thursday and this issue has driven me nuts. I even tried a factory reset but that didn't help.
It seems that if I am on WiFi OR 3G my phone will work fine and will sync with the exchange server no problem. But if I switch from one to the other, it won't. Ie I am at home in the morning, works on WiFi, I leave for the office then it stops. I have to reset the phone by turning it off and back on again to get it to start working again. No changes in settings, just a reset.
Ive tried all matter of things, re WiFi off, 3G on, leaving both on, changing the order I switch them on or off etc. Setting it to push email, manual check etc. The only thing that makes it work is a reset. Anyone else having an issue like this? Found any solutions or even other people having a similar issue?

Well they fixed 1 thing that bothered me. Now fix the call quality so it can be used as a phone. I am so glad this is just a device i am testing at work. I would never use it as a primary phone. My iphone has much better call quality and reception.

I am currently having an issue with most android devices in my work place where they are unable to authenticate with the exchange once connected over the wifi.
Breakdown:
We have 3 wifi networks.
1. General (Wifi authenticates over the domain)
2. Guest (Open wifi)
3. Mobile (Open wifi)
The below devices that we have tested give us an certification issue once they have connected to either the Guest or Mobile although they do work once connected to the General wifi or 3G/LTE.
Samsung Galaxy S4
Nexus Tabs
Samsung Tabs
All Apple devices work 100%
My Samsung S3 works 100%
Samsungs S4 Version:
Android version: 4.3
Baseband version: I9500XXUEMJ8
Kernel version: 3.4.5-1938685
Samsung S3 Version:
Android version: 4.1.2

Android default email client when connected to office wifi doesn't sync my e-mails while if i configures my exchange account in enhanced email it works absolutely fine and all my emails starts syncing on same office wifi.
I was having an offline chat with my system administrator and he told me that they have blocked something to avoid IP pool full issue ( new users were not able to connect to office wifi as almost everyone was using two IP, one on smartphone and one on laptop).
Question is how enhanced email client is able to sync? Can i make some changes in default android email client to make it sync.? My Edge connection is too slow to download emails and can't switch to 3g as it is a company provided connection.
