Android :: App To Upload Contects To Car Bluetooth?

While checking out the DX at V, I met someone who had a question that no one could answer.
He has 1500 contacts in his BB. However, the BB OS5 allows filters/groups for the contacts. He has one called "Car" with 12 numbers that he calls often. BB allows the upload/transfer of individual filter/groups to the car so he only has to scroll through those 12 numbers. Can the DX offer the same thing where you can only upload selected contacts, or is there an app for that?

I've noticed that my phone easily downloads my contacts from Google and Face book to my phone. However, when i modify or add a contact to my phone it doesn't update to my Google contacts? This is important since many of us are considering installing other Roms and we want to keep our contacts.

I have made what I think is the mistake of setting up all of my contacts in my Incredible as "phone" contacts. I now understand that these should have been set up as Google contacts so that they will be backed up on my Google account. I do not see a way to edit these contacts to change them from phone to Google. Am I going to have to delete and re-enter all of these contacts as Google contacts to get this done?

I added my contacts from my SIM card to my htc Hero, i now want to add a new contact. I added it to my phone, but when i try and save to SIM, a message appears saying 'SIM card error'. Can anyone point me in the right direction, as to resolving the problem.

When I get a message or e-mail, I can scroll to, or tap on a phone number to highlight it, and long press the highlighted phone number to display a menu that allows me to Copy Text. However, no text is actually copied to the clipboard - I can't paste the text to a contact, etc. Anyone else notice this?

I just got my Moment this past Friday and my visual voicemail hasn't worked since I've had it. If I do a reset through the 'settings' option would I permanently lose all my contacts or will they still be saved through my gmail account?

I'm having trouble uploading pictures I've taken on my DX to facebook through the "Quick Upload" option.I got a few uploaded, so I know it works, but now everytime I try, the status bad fills up all the way to "Uploading 100%" then it stalls before giving me the error "Can't send response now.Try again later."I've tried turning Wi-Fi on or off, but on both Wi-Fi and 3G it's not working.Thoughts?

I'm a bit concerned my phone is reporting 775 goggle contacts, but goggle says 639. I am about to delete all contacts off my phone and tidy up the ones on goggle by merging duplicates, and then re-import from goggle to my phone... but am reluctant to do this while the phone says i have more goggle contacts that goggle does I have synced a couple times but still the numbers don't match. I have checked and goggle still has not merged contacts so that isn't the reason for the difference either.

I recently switched phones from BB 8900 (Javelin) to HTC Magic. Only way to transfer all my contacts that I could figure out was to transfer all my contacts to my MS Outlook, and then from there take all the contacts to my HTC Magic. Everything went perfect, but now the trouble began. Any new contact that I add to the phone gets added to the bottom of my contacts list. The contacts are supposed to be in alphabetical order, but the contacts i got from Outlook always stay on top, and then the new contacts I add are being added to the bottom of my contacts list. Here is what I would like to do:
I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?

When I set up all of my contacts, I set them to "phone". I have gotten a gmail account now and would like to change all of them from "phone" to my gmail account so I can sync them. Anyone have any idea on how to do this?

I wanted to put this in the droid X section because the default way of searching contacts is horrible. I installed gesture search last night and now one of my few gripes with the phone is solved. I hated having to having to hold the options button to bring up a keyboard and then having to clear my last entry to start another search.

I was cleaning all the crap off my phone I don't use anymore and I believe I accidently removed the bluetooth software that allows it to connect to stereo bluetooth headsets. I can control the player with the headset, I can make phone calls from it, but when I try to play music there is no sound.
I was trying to reset the phone using RUU, but it reboots the phone and then says it cannot reconnect after that and the software shuts down. I can still sync with outlook, so my driver is not the issue. I am out of ideas.
Is there anyway possible to reinstall just the bluetooth portion of the rom?

Is there any way to turn the bluetooth option on the caller id screen to automatically toggle the bluetooth function on vs rushing to home screen toggle?
I'm often on the road at work or just have my hands full and it is such a drain running bt all day. Is there anything close to what I'm asking available or possible?

This is my first android phone and im having some problems with the bluetooth. Im trying to send my contacts over bluetooth from my old sony ericsson but it doesnt seem to be going smoothly, i would say its all down to me! Basically i have got the bluetooth on for both phones, the desire is set to be discoverable and i try to send the contacts via bluetooth on the SE. I get the whole passcode and accept the file which i have done, but then it says again about accepting the file. Ive tried it a few times and i have 3 bluetooth icons at the top of my screen now which i imagine are for transferring files which need accepting. Is there anywhere i can to accept them or close them down?

I am trying to upload a file to some url using ssl.
I use this code to set trust manager -

Then i am opening connection like this -

After i get the connection i use it to upload the data. Is i use http everything is ok but when i try https i get the following exception -

The strange thing is that i don't get exception all the time. When i try to upload small files (200K) it's working O.K. or it's crashing very rare but when i try to upload bigger ones (more than 1MB) i get the exception almost every time.

I have an application, and am trying to upload a new application from Developer console. It always says "The upgraded apk's package name (com.testini) must be the same as the one it is replacing (null)." I even tried created just a HelloWorld apk file, and still the same error. Can anyone suggest, where am going wrong.

I've been trying to upload my adc submission. I keep getting an error saying "Upload a valid APK." can anyone elaborate on what this means? I've followed the checklist for publisihing and tested on my g1 and it all seems fine. Why can't I upload? What constitutes as a valid apk?

I'm sure it's easy, but I'm not seeing it.I have an HTC Incredible.How do I upload files (mainly pictures and videos taken with the camera) to my dropbox folder?I thought there might be a way to go into the dropbox app and upload, but that doesn't seem to just let me upload any file.I also tried copying the files into sdcard/dropbox, but they don't show up in my dropbox account that way either.

well this is just an observation I've come up with but if i am wrong anybody feel free to correct me. Its about buying apps because I never have but with free apps u would only have to download it and simply back it up using Astro File Manager so my question is after buying an application couldn't anyone just simply back it up using Astro, connect your phone to the PC, C&P the file and upload that file for all to download?

I'm writing an app that uploads files to a web service. My question is how to write a Service to handle this: I want to upload in a background thread (or process not sure of the precise wording), so that the user can go to other applications without interrupting the upload, and show a notification / kill the thread when the upload is complete.I'm guessing it should be a Service, with a Notification to show the user what's going on: but should it be a LocalService or a RemoteService, as per the API examples? And do I need to call a new thread once I start the service, or do all services by definition run in a different thread?

Droid can only upload vids to YouTube by wifi... is that an Android thing or a limitation caused by Verizon's abilities (inabitlies?).
Not a severe problem, but I was so used to posting vids for work as the fastest way to get a QC problem resolved for co-workers across the state. I'd post a vid, they see it within minutes, and come up with a solution.
Can't do that with Droid.
Can't email them as the files are too large. Still have to use my little Nokia on ATT to do that.

Is there an app that will allow me to attach files and upload, for example on this site in a post so I could attach a picture or zip file straight from my phone. Or something I could use on a file hosting site, etc. If I could do this I will have no need for a computer at all once I get flash. I have a rooted Droid X.
