View 2 RepliesLoving the phone but every once in a while - like three times yesterday and once today the touchscreen goes haywire. I click on an icon and it doesnt register or the icon below is activated. On the keyboard I tap a letter and another key is activated. If I turn off phone and then back on all is perfect again for a while. It seems to be happening in the lower third of the screen. Anyone experience this? Do you think software or hardware? Im thinking software because the reset fixes problem.
View 30 Replies View RelatedI have an edit text field. When the user clicks on it by default it shows small letters on the virtual keyboard.
I want by default to display first letter caps and rest of them small on the keyboard.
How can this be done?
It happened 2 times already. I open the slide out keyboard and start typing an email, some letters (like C) does not type so I try a few times clicking the key and it types. then when I hit A the entire text is highlighted and the next character that I type replaces the highlighted text. You can imagine how annoying this can be. I thought I must have done something wrong and examined that the fn key was not pressed (cycled through it by pressing fn 3 times). No luck. I tried the same thing in 5 min and it all worked fine. I am baffled.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been applying a simultaneous rotate and alpha animation to an ImageView using AnimationSet. It was working fine when I set a Bitmap as the image with Image.setImageBitmap(my_bitmap).
I then extended the Drawable class with my own drawing routine. In my custom drawable I do some porter-duff compositing on the bitmap i was using earlier. I set the image with Image.setImageDrawable( new MyCustomDrawable( my_bitmap ) Now my animation rotates but no longer performs the alpha transition!
One of the things I have tried is returning different values from getOpacity() in my Drawable. None of PixelFormat.TRANSLUCENT, PixelFormat.TRANSPARENT, PixelFormat.OPAQUE, or PixelFormat.UNKNOWN work.
I did some searching and couldn't find an app like this, figured I'd try here. Anyone know of a app that will disable your wifi when you lock your phone, and enable it when it's unlocked?
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust FYI my co-worker has upgraded his Evo to run Froyo today. The update takes quite a while to execute so be patient, but one thing I noticed was that the USB tethering no longer works. On my phone (still running 2.1) I can plug in the USB cable, enable the 4G radio, and then go to Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & networks and click on the "Internet sharing" option. Once I do this, my computer automatically picks up the new USB device and can use it for internet access (it shows up as "usb0" in my ifconfig on Ubuntu 10.04). Note that this USB tethering ONLY works when the phone has a connection to the 4G network, otherwise tapping the "Internet sharing" option will produce an error 67 message.
I tested on my co-worker's phone after he upgraded to 2.2 and found that:
1) The "Internet sharing" option has been renamed to "USB tethering"
2) Tapping the "USB tethering" option will immediately disconnect your phone from the 4G network. Consequently, this means that you cannot tether.
Anyone else notice this issue after moving to Froyo? I have downloaded the update but I haven't applied it yet (for this and other horror stories I have heard). If you do lose the ability to perform USB tethering after the upgrade, have you been successful with tethering the Evo to a Linux machine? I have tried these two tutorials and been unsuccessful:

I have an AbsoluteLayout which has an OnTouchListener. Inside this layout there is a much smaller LinearLayout positioned dynamically. The OnTouchListener works as expected.
Now the problem comes when I add a LongClickListener to my LinearLayout. That disables my OnTouchListener if the touch hits the LinearLayout but it is still triggered, if the LinearLayout was not hit by the touch.
My listeners:
CODE:..............
How can I delegate the touch on the LinearLayout where the OnLongClickListener is registered, to the parent?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible, while typing with the stock android keyboard (Jelly Bean) to switch to the Numpad? I've uploaded two pictures to make things clear. the normal android keyboard. In the second one you see the numpad, but which only occurs if the text field only allows numerical input. What I want is to switch from the normal keyboard to the numerical one.
Example: I am writing a note (in my fav. note app) or a sms. In this note/sms I type some longer Numbers (wlan-key, phone number, birthday... you name it). This is when I want to switch to the numpad, because I cannot describe how much I hate to input numbers when they are not in a 3x3 grid (like a numpad).
In the stock Android Keyboard, when I press the number button (bottom left) the numbers appear in a ROW on the top. I honestly don't get how people can type numbers with this. I want to keep this kind of short
Swype has this feature: either hold the numbers key next to the swype button. Or swype from the swype-key to the t and the numpad appears. Really nice!
this is possible for the Android keyboard.I tried a lot of different keyboards and only swype had both: swype input and numpad. I think a numpad for numerical input is the best way to go.
when charging my Hero the touch screen will not work, when not charging it works fine, is this normal.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI drive a VW Jetta with bluetooth, which has easily paired with my last two phones (Bionic and S4, respectively). While Google map's turn-by-turn map navigation works fine with my phone's bluetooth on, in so far as I can see directions on the map, the navigation voice is disabled. Only when my phone's bluetooth is off do I hear a voice. I'm not sure if this is a function of my phone or my car.

I want to change the font of the Stock Android 4.2.2 keyboard and the default bold font of all the widgets on the launcher homescreen.
I have no clue which font maps to which so I simply went to Font Installer's preferences menu and selected any font with a "-bold" suffix to be replaced. All I ended up with was a boot loop.
Or is there something in addition to this that I should be doing before attempting a reboot? And what font am I actually supposed to change?

Take case off, works fine. Case is on correctly (there's not a whole lot of ways to have it on wrong). Pressing it harder onto my head (which one shouldn't have to do) or holding it farther away don't help, either. Does the other Otterbox case do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with the stock keyboard on my Eris. I don't really like the HTC keyboard so I installed the vanilla keyboard and switched defaults and whatnot. However, some apps (like "setup" for example) switch it back to the HTC keyboard and then I have to go back into HTC Sense and switch it and everything which is a pain. I know that the easy answer is "don't use those apps" though I really just want a permanent fix for it. Anyway to do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently rooted and am looking at getting rid of that irratating 'Choose input method' in the notification bar every time I type something.
I use Swype and the other options are Google Voice Typing (which I can untick) but Samsung Keyboard is greyed out, meaning that every time I type something I get the choice of Swype or Samsung Keyboard.
I've frozen the Samsung keyboard and now I don't get the notification and also Swype starts up quicker. Good so far. The thing is, I'm wondering if when I restart my phone my PIN lock screen uses the Samsung Keyboard, in which case I won't be able to enter my PIN. (I've disabled my PIN for the time being as I'm too scared to find out!)
I'm experiencing a problem with SwiftKey - the stock keyboard always shows up as the default after every boot, even though SwiftKey is enabled in settings. I read somewhere that a workaround is to freeze the stock keyboard using Titanium, and convert the SwiftKey app to a systems app. So my question is, how do I do that?
(One X, ARHD 31.3)
I know I can long-click on the correct entry in Titanium's App list to freeze an app, but specifically, what app name do I need to look for (is it Keyboard_english.apk?)
And how do I convert SwiftKey to a system app? I'm not even sure what this means. Do I just have to ensure it's located on internal storage (not SD card)?
