In the presence of usb cable if i remove battery from the device and put it back ,the device is not recognizing the battery. but from the kernel log i can see the battery charging event at the time of inserting the battery back and after that if the usb cable is taken out ,device will shutdown why its happening and which part of android source supposed to handle this behavior?

When i put files on my SD card. Android doesn't see the files right away. Most of the time after a couple of boots. This is really irritating me. I unmount the device but still no files. Does someone have the answer for this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons.
The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all.
After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied.
So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?
My EVO is acting up. It was working fine one day, I could take pictures, listen to music on my SD card, etc, but then out of nowhere, the phone does not see the SD card. The phone says "Removed SD card. SD card removed. Insert a new one." I have tried removing the SD card, then starting the phone without the SD card, then putting the SD card back in, but it still doesn't recognize the card. I cannot mount the phone as disk drive in my computer (I do not even have the option). Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

If it the screen is off and i plug in the usb it lights up but wont charge, ive tried two different usb cables and from mains adapter (with/without dock) and from the PC. Anyone else have the same problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is my computer stopped recognizing my tablet as a removable device through the USB cable. I've tried every solution, like going into device manager uninstalling all the usb drives etc... I even downloaded a program to see all the usb connections. Still nothing. There is no problem with my USB ports because I can charge my tablet through USB but my PC just doesn't pick it up. I've changed the MTP and PTP settings as well.
I'm pretty sure it started after I paired my tablet to PC over bluetooth. I think that's what caused the problem. Maybe my PC want's bluetooth to trump the USB connection (even with bluetooth turned off on my device)? I tried google searching but I'm not having much luck.
I tried my wifes laptop and hers picks it up, so I've narrowed the problem to my PC.
So, this is what I did - fiddled around with the phone a bit before finally deciding to install HTC Sync.Downloaded the latest version (3.x) from HTC's website. The software and drivers installed without a problem.The device, however, was not recognized by Sync. Try as I might.Tinkered with the settings in the handset, too - eg. prompt to choose function (I don't even get a prompt when I connect the USB!), checked debugger mode, et al.The phone continues to charge; and that's the only thing that happens.I am running Windows XP (32 bit), SP3. (While downloading the software from HTC's website, I had chosen the option 'Asia no use.I went a step further - by trying to install the older version (2.0.28). Found it on the internet.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhile playing around with Titanium, I was prompted to enable USB Debugging. I remembered having turned this on pre-2.1 for PDANet. However, when I plugged my phone into my PC via USB, it didn't recognize it. So I thought maybe I'd reinstall PDANet to get whatever drivers it loaded to use the USB in Debug mode. I did that, and installed the Samsung USB driver it says to install, but it keeps telling me during PDANet install that it doesn't have the driver. Anyone have any advice here?

Some of you are probably already searching for drivers. Ya I already went through that freak out when I got my Vibrant. Okay, to mount your phone, and have your computer recognize the internal/external memory, do this:Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Give it a few seconds.Next, PULL DOWN your notification bar. Next, tap your finger on "USB CONNECTED"You then get a message asking if you would like to mount. Tap "mount" confirming you would like to do so.Enjoy, your computer should now recognize the internal/external memory.BTW, reverse this process before pulling the usb cable out. Always remove a cable safely, otherwise the data can get corrupt. Don't just yank your cable out.Edit: some of you may also find the following useful. Hopefully the Epic is similar to the Vibrant in these setting
View 41 Replies View RelatedI just updated my S3 to 4.3 (my network is 3 - UK) and the phone is so slow! All programs crash after a few minutes of going onto them. I keep getting messages like "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped".
Also I have no mobile network!! Everytime I click on mobile data is tells me to "insert an active sim to access network" but when I put the sim in my brothers phone the sim works.
I really don't want to do a factory reset as I have a lot of internal things saved such as pics and whatsapp conversations that I really need!
Is it possible to go back to 4.2?

So I wanted to use a bigger card 8 gb. It's a new card, but the x10 mini doesn't recognize it. What can I do? How can I solve this problem? I go in to send an email to the group and it had them all set up for me nice and neatly. Then it asks me for an account and gmail isnt even an option.
I really dont want to have to add my gmail account under the email accounts section then id have two email apps if you know what i mean.
Do most people use The gmail app or just the email app?
I have my Droid connected to my computer via the USB that came in the box. The phone recognizes the cable, chimes, and has the USB icon on the screen. But the computer doesn't recognize the phone at all. It could be a problem with my computer, but I'm checking here in case I just can't find the option on the phone to "allow USB connection" or something.

Nothing fancy, no estimation of remaining battery life nor fancy eye candy. If it can show a more precise reading than the Milestone built-in one, which only decreases in 10% intervals, fine, but only if this isn't a drain on the battery. I know there are several such apps, but which do you think is the best for my needs? There are so many it's hard to try them all and choose. I just want something basic and simple which doesn't drain the battery. I tried "battery indicator" and "battery status pro"; they both do what I need, but I'm afraid they might be an additional drain on the battery.

This is my phone:
Model: Motorola XT919
Android version: jelly bean 4.1.2
Internal memory: 4gb (really 2,2 gb free since the rest is used by the OS)
Rooted: Yes
I found out about this problem because I was running out of internal space so I inmediately checked the storage settings and I found this:
In the installed apps settings it shows 766 mb free of internal space But in the storage settings the things are different: As you can see, this time I only have 127 mb free of internal storage....
Just to be sure, I downloaded the app Storage Analyser and once again checked the internal storage free space: And this time shows 1,52 gb free...
Well the thing is that my phone considers as free space just the 127mb shown on storage settings, and I want the phone also uses the free space shown on the app settings or the one shown by storage analyser.
I used the recovery mode first time - it worked, second time playing with NoBloat - it gets stuck in boot screen.I can go to the recovery mode menu, both chinese and english, can do a full clear cache, data, format, but phone still won't boot.
I can use ADB shell, but Smart phone flash tool does not recognize phone, MTK droid tool recognizes it, but I can't backup it.
I've downloaded the galaxy s drivers, but after running the setup file, it doesnt recgonize the phone in either ADB mode or hard drive mode.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a rooted N1 off of ebay. I plugged my SIM in and everything worked fine all day yesterday. I went to sleep on my bed, with the N1 in my pocket, and when I woke up the phone was indicating that there was no SIM card in the phone. I rebooted the phone, and factory reset it, yet it still indicated that there was no SIM inside the phone. I put my SIM card in my wife's iPhone and the phone worked fine.
1) Could sleeping with it in my pocket have done this?
2) Did I just buy a dud off of Ebay? And if so, how is this possible because it worked all day yesterday?
I want to make (yet another) news widget. Initially I thought it was enough to: 1. Download all the news articles 2. Update the widget every 5 seconds to change the currently displayed article using Alarm Manager (Alarm Manager.RTC) 3. Update the widget every 30-60 minutes to get new articles. This worked great on the first try but battery was quickly drained. I checked the logs and it turned out that the widget did the 5 second updates even if the screen was off. This was a surprise to me since the docs states: "..set an alarm with an Intent that your AppWidgetProvider receives, using the Alarm Manager. Set the alarm type to either ELAPSED_REAL TIME or RTC, which will only deliver the alarm when the device is awake. " I guess the device is considered "awake" even if screen is off? I found the same issue here: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa. I then checked the standard news widget and the other news widgets most popular on the Android Market and I see that they have services running all the time. Maybe because they want to handle the broadcast event when the screen is turned off? So is this really the best solution to have a service running in the background? So if someone downloads 10 different news widgets from different companies they end up with a list of 10 services in the "Running services" list?

I cannot understand why developers don't allow the phone to go into a sleep state, using IM to wake it up and reactivate the IM application, much like PDAApps Verichat used to do.

I'm on to my second Dinc and it happens to that one as well: Once the battery gets in the "red" (i think 10% or 15%) it doesn't start charging at all unless it's been plugged in for 20 - 30 minutes. Regularly if you charge your battery (from the non-red level) you see the little lightning bolt appear and then you see the progress bar go higher and higher and reset and go higher, higher, etc. When the phone is in red status, you just see the lightening bolt and no progress is made. I tested this by leaving it plugged in for 10 - 15 minutes and unplugged it and it did not move up 1 percentage point. After 20 - 30 minutes suddenly you see the progress bar move. This really sucks because once your phone is in red, it takes a while before it starts charging. I brought my phone to Verizon, had it swapped out and my "new" (refurbed) phone does the same thing. Searched the forums and checked out google and found tons of battery issues, but nothing like this. Anyone else experiencing this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I noticed that my battery icon is showing nearly a solid green battery, just slightly below it (a thin sliver of black). I've been on the phone for over an hour, played some games, got some e-mails etc and was wondering why it hasn't moved because before (had the phone since the beginning of May) it always seems to drop pretty accurately based on my usage (granted it's just observation, never studied it or anything). I went to settings - about phone - battery - and saw that I'm actually at 70%...but yet the icon hasn't moved down. Played a game for about 3 minutes and checked again, and the green icon now accurately shows what a 70% battery life should look like. Does anybody else know if their icon doesn't accurately represent their usage? Is this nothing to worry about? haha just concerned it will lag more and more with time or something...
