Android :: ActivityGroup Not Handling Back Key For ListActivity
Sep 29, 2010I am using an ActivityGroup to spawn multiple activities and switch views from within the same tab in a TabActivity.
When I press the back key this method is called inside my ActivityGroup

This method allows me to keep a stack of my activities and go back to the previous one when the back key is pressed.
This is working well on all my nested activities, except on a ListActivity where a press on the back key will simply exit the application.

Jan 14, 2010My app's underlying view has bitmaps, lines, etc drawn on a canvas. I want to display images (icons) on top of this which will respond to Touch events. The number and positioning of such images will be variable depending on data in an SQLite database.
Am I correct in thinking that the way to achieve this is to have a ViewGroup to which I add first the basic view then for each icon an ImageButton object with an OnTouch listener and positioning defined by setting the margins in a RelativeLayout.LayoutParams object?
My code for each button reads as follows: This seems to work when the screen is initially drawn, and when the screen is subsequently redrawn (with new data) new buttons are added; however, the previous buttons are not removed.
I've tried calling Global.ThisApp.MyLayout.removeView with each in turn button as a parameter but Eclipse objects that a MyButton object cannot be a parameter for removeView.
How can I remove the existing buttons each time the underlying view is invalidated?

Feb 11, 2013I'm trying to remove some softkeys from a ROM for the Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Note has a hw home button and capacitive back and menu buttons. The thing is, I like tablet ROMs because they use the screen better, but all of them come with Home, Menu and Recent Apps soft buttons added. On TW modded roms you can also find a multiwindow button to launch apps in multiwindow mod (looks like a "^"). So I just want to keep this button (maybe Recent apps too, I'll decide it later). I know how to decompile apks and edit xml's. What I want to know is which apks I need to edit and which xmls in said apps I need to edit/remove entries. I already tried to edit SystemUI.apk and tw_systembar.xml (deleted the entries for Home and Back), but UI crashed on startup and never come up again.

Sep 13, 2010GMail is almost unusable when composing a message - the Send and discard and Save buttons take up more room than you get space to type, resulting in just 3 or so lines of visible text. To make it worse, the typing font is massive.
Does anyone know how to...
1) Remove the stupid Send/Discard/Save buttons above the keyboard. Clicking the menu soft-key brings up those options anyway, meaning they literally are nothing but a waste of typing space
2) Change the font size, so we can see more text as we type. When reading a message, the font is much smaller and still very readable...
3) Change the keyboard to something shorter, gaining more room to see messages we composes
I got this phone to GMail with so this is pretty annoying.

The buttons should always be visibly and always stay on top and send the command to the app thats running.
Someone have ideas and sample codes how to do that?
*I see an app with name (Smart Taskmanager) wich always detect when you touch the right side of the screen and then detect when you slide the finger to left.
So I think its possible, with this function I think its possible to implementate the code to simulate the (Home, Meny, Back, Search) buttons.
*I also see and test an app wich show a "cracked display" always ontop so that tecnic maybe shold be useful to always show the buttons/bitmanp on top.
Thoose function, to show the button and catch the "touch event" and send the event to the active program, thats what i dont can figure out how to do.
Android :: Pressing Home Or Back Buttons From Main Activity / Causes App To Stop Unexpectedly
Nov 13, 2010This is difficult for me to diagnose because the Log doesn't provide the offending code line that indicates what caused it.Running the app in the Emulator seems to work OK until I press Home or Back from the Main Activity. Using Back between the activities in the program seems to work OK, it only fails at the Main. I don't have the app finished yet so I haven't loaded it to a device yet.The Log says there was a null pointer exception so I would like to find why.The log points to the android routines (and I don't appear to have the source for those routines in the emulator-most but not all and these are refering to those I can't access). The log gives up at one point and says "11 more".It would be nice to see the remaining 11 in the hopes that one of them points to the line in my code that caused the offense.I'm looking for ideas on ways to find the error and hopefully cure it.

Sep 15, 2010My girlfriend just got an x10 to match mine and for some reason every once and a while, the 3 buttons at the bottom completely stop working. At first I thought the phone froze but I could still use the on-screen keyboard and press whatever I wanted on screen but the 3 buttons wouldn't work oO This has NEVER happened with my phone.
After searching around a bit, I only found one solution which was "if you have a gel phone cover, take it off and see if it works." We tried that and it seems (so far, for an hour or so) that it's working fine. That doesn't make much sense to me as we have the same phone and the same cover - just a different colour. Anyone had this problem before? Should we be bringing the phone back or is there something I'm overlooking?

Jun 10, 2010In the past, when listening to music on my Incredible, if I locked the phone the music would continue to play just fine. If I wanted to pause/play/skip a song, all I had to do was hit the power button and above the "Slide to unlock" bar there was a music control bar.
Now, my music still plays, but those buttons are gone from the lock screen. This is a pain because in order to pause my music when someone comes to my desk at work I have to hit the power button, unlock the phone, slide down the notifications window, wait for the music app to load then hit pause.
Anyone know how to get these buttons back?

My favorite music player is Playerpro, but what I was wondering is what would i need to put in variables or actions, if I wanted to use the volume buttons to press skip or back while the screen is off and i'm using the app.I would use Gravity Box to do so but Cyanogen or any of its tweaks and mods are not compatible with the SM-G730v.

Nov 28, 2009Well have had my hero for around 3 days now. I have recently noticed a creaking sound coming from the home and back buttons. It rarely makes a sound from the menu or search button. But the home and back make this sound if I push the button or if I lightly press down (halfway pushing the buttons).
Is this normal? Do you get this on your hero?

Feb 13, 2013I picked up the kernel code released by Samsung for SCH-R950 (US Cellular) from opensource.samsung
Kernel version: 3.0.31
Build Number: JR003C.R950VXALJ1
I changed the kernel code to accommodate my changes, compiled and flashed using ODIN. The phone came up well but the back and menu buttons stopped working. I undid my changes, compiled and flashed again. This time again the back and menu buttons didn't work. So, it seems that the source code or the build instructions released by Samsung has some issue. The config file used was t0uscc_04_defconfig (released along with the code). I have attached the build config file.
