General :: Google+ Killing Battery With Partial Wakelock?
May 6, 2014
Google+ is killing my battery with this partial wakelock. Short of freezing it with Titanium (which does solve the problem for me), how to prevent this from running? It literally runs as long as my phone is on, and is just draining my battery.
On HTC Sensation, S-Off, rooted, using stock ROM (4.0.3)

Is it possible for a program to effectively and efficiently use partial wakelock without burning through a lot of battery? Tango, for example? I'm trying to decide if the partial wakelock usage is worth the video call ability.

On VZW, with a brand new Galaxy S5.
Battery will make it about 7 hours. Exchange services is using about 50%. Set to push. Got maybe 6 emails over the weekend.
Not a tenable solution , everything else is OK. Was thinking about returning the phone for another one, but , I can't believe it is the HW.
Exchange set up exactly like my old razr, also just checked with another person at work with a S3, we have exchange set up the same way.

I have a service that acts a download manager, downloading files in the background. I have aquired a partial wake lock while the downloads are going. When the downloads finish, I manually release the wakelock. Because I am paranoid, I acquired the wakelock also with a timeout. The problem I am seeing is that if I have already manually released my wakelock, when the timeout period expires an error is presented to the user (and adb logcat shows an under-locked wakelock exception).
Is there any way to use a timeout (as backup wakelock release in case the app force closes for some reason) without getting this error?

I remember hearing that charging slightly, but not letting it charge all the way is dangerous to the battery. It this true, or is can I let my battery charge a little and then unplug it without any problems?

On battery usage partial wake - does anybody know what UID 10016 is? As this is using the most followed by android system followed by dialer. Should dialer be there on partial wake??
Also what version of facebook for sense are people using and is there a way to update the built in apps or do we have to wait for a system update?

On my last full discharge, I looked at the Spare Parts app battery history, and took a look at partial wake usage since I've read thats where you can see what apps are really draining your battery. What i saw that above everything was UID 10074, then android system, and then usual stuff. What is UID 10074? I google and searched, but the one time it was mentioned someone said they didn't know. It said something like over 3hours usage for partial wake for UID 10074. My battery life isn't terrible, but this thing seems like its hogging resources?

Installed the new updated 1.3 version of Facebook for Android this morning. when i checked my phone just now i noticed battery is lower than it should be. a look at the Battery Graph (separate app) shows that it's draining constantly... so i checked the PARTIAL WAKE USE via the Spare Parts app. and voila: the new facebook up stays awake constantly. that's despite having any connectivity turned off (via the network connection switch; i only turn on when i need it to save battery).

There are a bunch of threads out there talking about battery usage and how to figure out what's draining your battery.
Almost all of them say to go get Spare Parts app from the market and check you "partial wake usage".
I did that and 95% of my partial wake usage is from "Android System".
Is that normal? Anyone who is getting good battery life (20+ hours) - what do you see in the partial wake usage?
I just checked my phone:
13h 10m 23s since unplugged
Partial Wakelock:Android System Total time: 13h 1m 44s
Is this normal?
The only widgets I have are:
Stock power control widget
Ringer Toggle Widget
I am running GDE in the background (not my default home screen).

I've updated handcent and facebook and now my phone dies while I'm sleeping. It was at 50% when I went to bed. I have the sync for facebook set at once a day and never had this happen till after I updated those two apps. I now have to charge my phone 3 times a day! This is getting ridiculous.

Will take the past three days for example. Monday i took ONE picture and all day under menu>settings>about phone>battery>battery use..... it said the camera app used 94% of my battery and that was after a days use.
Tuesday then rolls around and i didn't use my camera and i had charged my phone monday night but whats weird is it still said the camera app used about 87% of my battery and my battery died QUICK that day.
Today is wednesday and so far the only time i used my camera was when i quickly opened the bar code scanner app but i didn't even scan a code i just opened it for maybe 3 seconds and today it says the camera used 47% of my battery.
Is my camera app staying open even though under running services it isn't there and neither is it there when i use task killers such as "Android system Info"

I have an EVO and I have a problem with it. I downloaded the app Advanced Task Killer to take care of apps running in the background. However sometimes when I pull it up I find that things like Sprint Navigation, Qik, Voice Dialer, and sometimes others are running without me pulling them up. My question is, how do I keep these apps from doing this, because they kill my battery when they come on and I don't know it?

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on which applications I should avoid/uninstall to try to conserve some battery. For example, does it use up a ton of battery to have location aware apps running or is it pretty nominal?

Basically I was messing around and decided to check my battery usage because it seemed to have run down pretty fast lately, and i see this. Whenever i run my camera once this seems to happen. I always use the back button to back out of the camera after i use it and i've gone as far as ending all tasks using the system app. Is there any way to stop the camera from using so much of my battery, or should I just stop using it?

In the past week or so, I've noticed my battery life drastically decrease. I could easily go a day and a half with moderate use (some web surfing, all my apps and widgets going, etc.). Last week, my battery was gone one day in about 7.5 hours. I thought it was from installing Screebl Lite. I disabled Screebl, same problem. So I uninstalled Screebl, same problem. I have Spare Parts installed, but it's not the most intuitive thing in the world. I try looking at the battery usage stats, but it says "Android System" is the biggest battery user. And I don't know what is good, what is bad, what is normal.
Example: Today, I had my phone at 100% charge. Took it off the charger around 10 AM. Around 11:00, I paired up the new Bluetooth headset I got for Christmas. I made a call. Listened to a couple of songs. Watched a couple of minutes of video. I browsed the Market for a few, disabled bluetooth and went about my day. By about 6:00, I was at 5%.

I know that it used to kill batteries when you would recharge it before it was low and needed to be charged. I also heard it was bad to take an item off of the recharger before it was at 100%. Does any of that hold true with today's batteries, meaning the one that is in the Sprint Hero? Can I recharge it at night if the battery is at 48% and have it not hurt the battery or it's life? Just wondering because I have a charge at work and home and wait till it is in need of charging. That is sort of a pain, I would rather turn the phone off at night and charge it and have a fresh and fast phone in the morning.

This morning I woke up and my droid had 20% charge left in it and it was fully charged when I went to sleep. This has never happened until after the update but I also got a new droid the same day. So I dont know if this is due to my new droid or the update. Has anyone else noticed this?

Once upon a time, I set up Google Voice as the voicemail agent on my phone. Now I really regret it.Every time a get a voicemail now, I receive two text messages and an email and it's annoying. So I went to call settings and changed the voicemail from Voice back to "Carrier" and I also removed the Voice number and put back the default voicemail number.Nothing has changed! Any ideas?I am running Froyostone on an HTC HD2, which may complicate things.

I am currently on a new client where it's constantly on 1X and occasionally switches back to 3G with 0 bars, then back to 1X. I got in to work at 8:30 am and by 5:00 the battery was at 30%. Battery Manager shows Cell Standby as 21% of the battery usage. I had about a 15 minute call this morning (presumably on 1X, I didn't check) and have not used the Internet at all for the rest of the day. This is obviously unacceptable. On my Droid Eris, there was a way to turn off the Mobile Network and use only 2G/1X for calls. I have researched and not found a similar option for the Droid X (Why would Motorola leave this out?) Does anyone know what my options are? I've heard you can go into the #*#*INFO*#*# menu and set it to 2G only, then restart, but that would be a pain to do every morning.

I've noticed that Google maps is always taking up a big portion of the battery in the battery menu. If I freeze it with titanium would that make a significant difference? I use it seldom enough to go thru the trouble of unfreezing it when needed if it's worth it..

I have a N7 2013 on stock KRT16S, and my biggest wake lock is AudioMix.
I'm rooted, using Greenify, and I even have Google Search uninstalled. I am not using GEL. People suggested turning touch sounds off, and I tried that too, but it didn't work.
what is this AudioMix wakelock? Is this like Audio_Out2 on the Nexus 4? Keyboard sounds or any sounds = wakelock? I also find it odd that considering I use my phone on vibrate 98% of the time, that the on my Nexus 4 and older phones, the speaker turns on when I press any button my phone. I thought system sounds wouldn't turn on? Quite interesting. Even in silent mode, the speaker turns on. I know this because my Nexus 4 speaker used to crack everytime it would turn on. To me that's an unnecessary wakelock that should ONLY happen if you're not in silent or vibrate."
