General :: Exchange Services Killing The Battery

May 19, 2014

On VZW, with a brand new Galaxy S5.

Battery will make it about 7 hours. Exchange services is using about 50%. Set to push. Got maybe 6 emails over the weekend.

Not a tenable solution , everything else is OK. Was thinking about returning the phone for another one, but , I can't believe it is the HW.

Exchange set up exactly like my old razr, also just checked with another person at work with a S3, we have exchange set up the same way.

General :: Disabled Exchange Services?

Apr 11, 2012

After an OTA upgrade to 4.0.4 on my Nexus S i started getting shocking battery drain from Exchange Services regardless of sync settings on my corporat email account.

To try and stop it i disabled Exchange Services but I cant see where to start it again? I have no Exchange Services app listed any more and cant even sync Outlook mail manually.

I've rebooted the phone and removed/readded the account but I just get a "cant connect to server" error.

HTC Desire :: Killing Calendar And OBEX Services Stops Sync

May 21, 2010

I started killing the calendar and the obex services by going into settings>applications>running services.
This is resulted in the awake times significantly lower than the up time... however today i realised it also means when i want to connect the Desire to the pc to sync contacts/calendar with outlook.. the sync software on the phone does not launch at all. I went into the programs menu, but there is no launcher icon for the sync app.

I also setup the power control widget that comes with the phone on the homescreen and enabled sync from that... no go. The Sync app only came up when i rebooted the device and *DID NOT* kill the two calendar processes on the phone.

I know rebooting is a solution, but i would appreciate if there's something quicker.

Google+ is killing my battery with this partial wakelock. Short of freezing it with Titanium (which does solve the problem for me), how to prevent this from running? It literally runs as long as my phone is on, and is just draining my battery.

General :: How Do Running Services Effect Battery Life And Responsiveness

May 8, 2013

I have been using HTC Desire S for about 2 yrs now, but since I am not a power user, I just use it as it came. Now considering to root it and was looking more closely at things and I see there are many services running in the background under "Running".

I don't know the inner workings of Android system, so would like to know if more services are running (especially from apps which I don't regularly use) then does it effect battery life and does it make the phone slower ?

For example under Calendar, 4 services are running - AutoSettingService, ImmediateModeService, DashboardService,ConnecttoPcService.

Google Maps has TrafficAppWidgetUpdateService and PrefetcherService ( I rarely use Google maps because I use offline rmaps)

Another thing is I have a prepaid connection without a data plan so I would like to control which apps connect to the net when i switch on 3G - i mean I would prefer if only the app which I want to use the data should use it, while others should not.

And there are some things taking data, which i don't really understand - but since they are related to Android system I am not sure whether to try to restrict them (Android System, HTC Function test, HTC Checkin service, Settings storage, VPN, Status bar, Bluetooth, Google backpp transport, etc, Phone, Dialer Storage, SIM toolkit)

Any general idea about these services - battery and network usage and effect on responsiveness ?

HTC Incredible :: Camera Killing Battery

Jun 2, 2010

Will take the past three days for example. Monday i took ONE picture and all day under menu>settings>about phone>battery>battery use..... it said the camera app used 94% of my battery and that was after a days use.

Tuesday then rolls around and i didn't use my camera and i had charged my phone monday night but whats weird is it still said the camera app used about 87% of my battery and my battery died QUICK that day.

Today is wednesday and so far the only time i used my camera was when i quickly opened the bar code scanner app but i didn't even scan a code i just opened it for maybe 3 seconds and today it says the camera used 47% of my battery.

Is my camera app staying open even though under running services it isn't there and neither is it there when i use task killers such as "Android system Info"

HTC EVO 4G :: Apps Running Starting Them / Killing Battery

Jun 13, 2010

I have an EVO and I have a problem with it. I downloaded the app Advanced Task Killer to take care of apps running in the background. However sometimes when I pull it up I find that things like Sprint Navigation, Qik, Voice Dialer, and sometimes others are running without me pulling them up. My question is, how do I keep these apps from doing this, because they kill my battery when they come on and I don't know it?

Samsung Moment :: How To Diagnose What Is Killing Battery

Dec 25, 2009

In the past week or so, I've noticed my battery life drastically decrease. I could easily go a day and a half with moderate use (some web surfing, all my apps and widgets going, etc.). Last week, my battery was gone one day in about 7.5 hours. I thought it was from installing Screebl Lite. I disabled Screebl, same problem. So I uninstalled Screebl, same problem. I have Spare Parts installed, but it's not the most intuitive thing in the world. I try looking at the battery usage stats, but it says "Android System" is the biggest battery user. And I don't know what is good, what is bad, what is normal.

Example: Today, I had my phone at 100% charge. Took it off the charger around 10 AM. Around 11:00, I paired up the new Bluetooth headset I got for Christmas. I made a call. Listened to a couple of songs. Watched a couple of minutes of video. I browsed the Market for a few, disabled bluetooth and went about my day. By about 6:00, I was at 5%.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Recharging Battery - Want To Make Sure Not Killing

Dec 31, 2009

I know that it used to kill batteries when you would recharge it before it was low and needed to be charged. I also heard it was bad to take an item off of the recharger before it was at 100%. Does any of that hold true with today's batteries, meaning the one that is in the Sprint Hero? Can I recharge it at night if the battery is at 48% and have it not hurt the battery or it's life? Just wondering because I have a charge at work and home and wait till it is in need of charging. That is sort of a pain, I would rather turn the phone off at night and charge it and have a fresh and fast phone in the morning.

Motorola Droid X :: Poor Reception Area - Killing Battery Life - Disable 3G?

Aug 2, 2010

I am currently on a new client where it's constantly on 1X and occasionally switches back to 3G with 0 bars, then back to 1X. I got in to work at 8:30 am and by 5:00 the battery was at 30%. Battery Manager shows Cell Standby as 21% of the battery usage. I had about a 15 minute call this morning (presumably on 1X, I didn't check) and have not used the Internet at all for the rest of the day. This is obviously unacceptable. On my Droid Eris, there was a way to turn off the Mobile Network and use only 2G/1X for calls. I have researched and not found a similar option for the Droid X (Why would Motorola leave this out?) Does anyone know what my options are? I've heard you can go into the #*#*INFO*#*# menu and set it to 2G only, then restart, but that would be a pain to do every morning.

I can't believe that Google will not use Standalone GPS services if Wi-Fi & mobile network location is disabled. So, the only way to use Maps is to put the phone in excessive battery drain mode.

Jelly Bean :: Android 4.3 / Location Services Battery Drain?

Oct 18, 2013

on my Nexus 4, it seems like the location is checked quite frequently by the phone, even if I'm not using an app that needs location, and even if the screen is off.

I don't want to turn off the Location Services, I just want my location to be obtained when I use Maps.

Anyway I can do that? I have already turned off location for Facebook and other annoying apps using App Ops. I basically don't want my location to be obtained when the screen is off.
