On battery usage partial wake - does anybody know what UID 10016 is? As this is using the most followed by android system followed by dialer. Should dialer be there on partial wake??
Also what version of facebook for sense are people using and is there a way to update the built in apps or do we have to wait for a system update?

There are a bunch of threads out there talking about battery usage and how to figure out what's draining your battery.
Almost all of them say to go get Spare Parts app from the market and check you "partial wake usage".
I did that and 95% of my partial wake usage is from "Android System".
Is that normal? Anyone who is getting good battery life (20+ hours) - what do you see in the partial wake usage?
I just checked my phone:

Is this normal?
The only widgets I have are:

I am running GDE in the background (not my default home screen).
Installed the new updated 1.3 version of Facebook for Android this morning. when i checked my phone just now i noticed battery is lower than it should be. a look at the Battery Graph (separate app) shows that it's draining constantly... so i checked the PARTIAL WAKE USE via the Spare Parts app. and voila: the new facebook up stays awake constantly. that's despite having any connectivity turned off (via the network connection switch; i only turn on when i need it to save battery).

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my last full discharge, I looked at the Spare Parts app battery history, and took a look at partial wake usage since I've read thats where you can see what apps are really draining your battery. What i saw that above everything was UID 10074, then android system, and then usual stuff. What is UID 10074? I google and searched, but the one time it was mentioned someone said they didn't know. It said something like over 3hours usage for partial wake for UID 10074. My battery life isn't terrible, but this thing seems like its hogging resources?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a desire and handcent has been pretty good to me so far. the latest update has things a bit more stable (or so it seems at least) when sending group texts, however,i woke up to find my phone had 3 new text messages..but the phone battery went down from 100% to 83%! i know it's shocking but i got up at 2pm haha today and i got the texts at intervals of 8am and 11am. anyways i'm pretty sure it wasn't any other app as i usually lose about 8-13% at most. i checked the *#*#4636#*#* and in 'partial wake up' battery usage, it said handcent had been on for 4 hours! i know the phone can still be awake even if the screen is off but my settings have always been to not turn on screen when receiving a new message. i'm guessing this problem is because of the message popup staying active? i'll see how this fairs when i wake up tomo morning and if i get any texts..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been noticing that the Calendar is always at the top of the partial wake usage when I check it in spare parts. As of right now my phone has been unplugged for 3 hours and the calendar has held a 30 minute partial wake lock. The second on the list is the Android system which has only held a 4 minute partial wake lock. Is this normal for the calendar to hold a partial wake lock like this? I heard about the Flickr bug but I do not sync my account with Flickr and never have. I'm not even syncing my calendar with Google currently.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm getting wake times near 100% with this ROM and I don't have the first clue why. I wiped and installed properly, and I have autokill set to optimal. Not runinng setCPU or anything, and I've never had this problem before so I don't think its an app.
If anyone could help, I would REALLY appreciate it. I tried dc2.05, but now I have the no audio issue on phone calls from this ROM, so I had to switch back for the fix -.- Really frustrated and really need a working ROM + phone =
AlwaysFlash seems to be the problem, uninstalled and wake time seems to be staying low under all circumstances.
The accelerometer turns off when the screen is off. I'm guessing this is a bug but I haven't seen it logged. Am I missing something?
Perhaps the power management features need some improvement - the ability to specify what components are needed during a partial_wake_lock so that power can be conserved as efficiently as possible.
BTW, there is a bug logged noting that onSensorChanged() continues to be called for the orientation sensor (during sleep) but the values are not being updated.
I have a vanilla Hero. Since I bought it (around 2 months ago), the awake time has NEVER been under 100%. I installed the Modaco 2.9 ROM yesterday (which I highly recommend; my Hero is now much faster) and it's STILL 100%.
Spare parts tell me that the culprit appears to be 'Android system'.
I'd like to reduce my wake time if it's at all possible.
I'm aware of the messaging app/dialer issue; that's not what this is, since I'm using CHOMP sms and it's still an issue.
Since 1.5 I've been having partial wake problems. My eris normally will last a few hours in airplane mode or with just wifi on before the battery drops one or two percent. Sometimes, it will drop like 5 percent in an hour with low battery usage occuring, for example, when airplane mode is on. I check spare parts under partial wake usage, and it is usually very high, sometimes 100% after hours. I have to reboot my phone to fix these problems.

Downloaded the newest update today (there were a few updates in succession, I think) and it's causing my Droid X to not sleep and it's showing up as Partial Wake Lock the entire time my phone is on. I emailed the developer, but if others are seeing this, please do so as well. It's probably killing many batteries right now.
View 2 Replies View Relatedthis thread directed at those that did not root or unlock their HTC desire but uses its original android.. before i go on, my standard usage is as follows, mostly sms using, a phone call or two, less than an hour of wifi browsing at night.. on android 2.1, my battery lasted roughly 2 days and a bit more.. after updating to android 2.2 via wifi through auto update on the phone. today was my third day after charging my phone to 100%.
its now almost 5pm, on my third day and my battery still has a whopping 40% of battery life left.. so just wondering whether anyone else have this miraculous boost of battery life with android 2.2 or not.
I'm wondering what the best charging strategy is to get the battery working at its best. Let it run down to almost empty then fully charge each time or just keep topping it up when I'm near power?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe've all heard the horror stories (I just bought my Desire and the battery lasts for about 4 hours!) and the fanboy wankery (I get at least 3 days of heavy use!) So today I unplugged my Desire at about 6am and set off for work. It's 7pmish now and here's some stuff you may like to look at. I have 3G disabled, Sync on manual, no "live" widgets (just WiFi and bluetooth) live wallpaper (nexus) and screen brightness on auto. Here's the battery status (rounded up from 25% according to Battery Info in the Testing app)
The breakdown of usage:
My phone was idle for 9 hours and 45 mins:
The Display was on for a mere 2hours and 46 mins
With only 1.5 hours of WiFi:
And 30 mins of calls:
So, that'll be less than 3 hours of usage.
I was panicking a little yesterday as I thought I would miss the delivery of my new Desire. This was not the case at 5:30pm it arrived and it truly is an amazing phone. It took me around 4 hours to totally kill the battery from new (when you get the battery it only has a little charge in it) so this I was really pleased about, this was with WiFi on constantly and using it nonstop on twitter, flicker, taking photos, android market, internet browsing and basically just finding my ways around the menus as i've been out of the game for a while. I really think that the worries I was having about not liking it and reverting back to my iPhone are blown out of the window, this device really has blown me away and the integrated twitter app Peep is also very good, although I am now using tweetcasterPRO. It had a full charge last night so I am going to hammer the phone today to see how quickly I can get the battery to go flat so I have a rough idea if one charge will last me through the day.

I have been disturbed by how much battery it seems to use while it's sleeping. After much poking around and reading and using various system/battery/monitor apps in a non-methodical manner, I think I found it. I noticed that a process called 'compass' at /system/bin/akmd was persistent in utilization on my phone. While it only ever showed like 1-6% cpu utilization, it seemed to be showing it constantly. I uninstalled a 'compass' app I had DL'd from the market, but that had no effect.
With some searching, I found some threads over at XDA that discussed this process misbehaving in some recent builds, although the conversations didn't seem to be about the EVO. Nonetheless, I decided to disable the auto screen orientation (Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Display Settings/Orientation = unchecked) and lo and behold, I'm not sure the phone even uses battery in standby now! (exageration for effect...)
Now, this will require more testing, but it seems to be at the root of *my* battery issues. And I'm thinking after reading at XDA that this could be a broad problem. I'm also hopeful though, that this could be a relatively easy software fix for HTC/Google. Especially because I don't particularly find disabling the screen rotating an acceptable long term solution... but one I can live with for now, if it makes the HUGE battery gains it seems like it might.
Is there any way to change which button wakes up the phone? It's the power button by default and I would love to also make the optical round button do the same thing.

Also to make it more stange when you get down to 15% it gives my a low battery warning i can either say yes or view battery usage.. but cant seem to find it anywhere in the menus.

Would ask this on their IRC channel but I think they would lynch me :P The max stable I get is 748 was running it for like 10 mins :P (768 wont boot) Was running mostly 691 and now 614 . But dont know what will the difference in power consumption be. For example when playing with the phone and it will have to go to the 691 will it hold a lot less? Or its just a minor difference?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was screwing around with battery usage today and here is what I found as the bottom line. Now this doesn't mean this is the same for you, but I'm sure you all know that. I changed nothing on the evo besides Gtalk automatically signing me in. (No skimping if you would) and I was at a golf club all day yesterday and had perfect signal strength. My EVO went 23hrs on one charge with decently heavy use. When I went back home (bad signal, 1 bar, no 3G) my phone's battery lasted just about 13hrs. Therefore I think TWS is one of the biggest battery culprits. Hence why if you complain to Sprint, they send you a free Air Ave like they did for me and many others.

I am using the Y5 app and my phone connects to my router when I am home. I just checked the battery usage and Wifi was showing 22%. My up time is right around 27 hours. Does 22% sound a little high or is that good?
